Twilight Golf Group?
 

Would anybody be interested in starting a weekly twilight golf group...playing 9 holes at a championship course through the summer using the twilight rate? Mallory would be my course of choice, but I'd be more than willing to play any of TV championship courses.

The rate starts (I believe) at 5:00, but what I'd really enjoy is starting as late as possible so we could get in nine holes as the sun sets. As late as 6:30-6:45ish would be perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Anybody?

Well, to tell you the truth, for the champs down here I would like to walk tee to green with a club or two and hop in a cart for green to tee if it's a hike. I'll also help move the cart around the greens as needed to make it easier for the cart owner and to speed up play.

When you have 2 experienced golfers in 1 cart the game goes faster then 2 golfers in 2 carts.

That's cool. Champs are of course a different beast altogether. I like walking, but I'm always ready to take my (gas) cart on a championship course.

Three possibles and counting. I'd be glad to set up a tee time pretty soon. For those of you interested, could we start discussion of day-of-week? Location? Anything else?

We are excited to announce the return of Twilight Golf, beginning
Monday, June 1st through September 30th.
Between 5:00pm and 6:00pm at all of The Villages Country Clubs we
will extend discounted greens fees for Villages residents for unlimited
play for the remainder of the day! This year, the greens fees for
Residents are (tax inclusive):
Orange Blossom $5.00
Tierra Del Sol & Hacienda Hills $6.00
Glenview, Lopez Legacy, Cane Garden, Mallory Hill
Havana, Bonifay, Evans Prairie & Belle Glade $7.00
Palmer Legends $8.00
Guests will pay the prevailing rate. Make a request 4-7 days in
advance of play, pick up an open tee time 1-3 days in advance of
play or call the course on the day of play. Come out and enjoy an
evening on the golf course!
For further information or questions, please call any of the Golf Shops
or the Tee Times Office Monday through Friday, 8-5 or Saturday &
Sunday, 8-4 at 750-4558.

Will the Tee Time office allow groups at the special rate?

I have standing plans every tuesday and saturday evening.
It looks like the latest tee time you can make is at 6:04. I can't play this sunday but I wanted to see availability 3 days out. There's a lot available at the end of the day.

Tee times after 5:00 are at the Twilight Rate. I think it's as simple as that.

I don't think there's a chance they'd cut the price from the already low price of 6 bucks!!

The rate varies a bit this year...from $5 to $8 depending on the course.

I think the question was IF groups can take up the allotted times for the special rates. This would take away from more individuals who are not part of groups.

Do not think it meant another special rate for groups.

I'll find out for sure, but I don't think they're differentiating. If it's after 5:00, it's simply the twilight rate...pretty sure that's the case. I'll find out for sure and post.

I am part of a group that plays twilight once a week. Couple of years ago someone questioned the tee time office about playing a shotgun start and I think the answer was we needed a minimum of 32 players to do that.

My husband would be interested in playing on Monday nights. We live in the Pinellas area.

Okay folks, I've got a busier week than I had hoped for, so here's my proposal...

I'd like to set a time for June 18th...a week from this coming Thursday...at 6:00ish at Mallory CC. So if you're interested, please let me know. I'm a bit new to setting up times for others, but I believe I'll need Villages ID numbers to set it up.

If it works out, I'd like it to be regular weekly thing through the summer, so let me know.

There's another golf thread going on about divots and repairing ball marks. I told the group about this thread and asked them to join us.

I mounted a green repair too on the handle end of my ball return. There is a photo on the other thread. My plan is to repair ball marks all over the green while others are putting. I'm in the exec tourny tomorrow and I'll try it out. Maybe it will catch on.

We have a foursome. I've sent each of you a PM. Just to verify, I'm going for Thursday, June 18th at about 6:00ish. I plan to request Mallory, but I'm not sure if it will be available, so if you'd like to message me (or post...heheh) alternate courses just in case, I can add them to our request.

For everybody else, we could always go for another group if there is enough interest. Keep 'em coming!!

Can I share someone else's cart? Mine's in the shop. Well not exactly the shop, it's in the showroom. I don't have one yet.

It'll be hard for us to do. We're playing in the Sunset Golf - Mixed Scrambles on Thursday nights; it rotates between Havana, Mallory and Cane Garden.

I've submitted the request for Thursday, 6/18 around 6:00. I'll post as soon as I know the results.

By the way, I'm envisioning this as something with some flexibility, even possibly more than one time per week. So somebody like kcrazorbackfan can play even if this first tee time doesn't fit. We'll see. :)

Keep me in mind; we got kind of got a bad taste in our mouths tonight because of an issue. We're going to try it one more time next week and may join yall the 25th.

I have to make an unfortunate post regarding our 6/18 twilight group. I've had a death in the family and will be out of town. (Thanks in advance for your thoughts...my brother's been sick for a long time and now his suffering is over.)

I'm fairly new to the tee time system, so I called regarding how to handle such an occurrence. I was assured that if I modify the request to drop myself out of the group, the remaining group members will be able to add a player to fill out the foursome, or just play as a threesome...the request will still be in place.

I'm very sorry, especially being the initiator of the group. But obviously the situation is unavoidable. I'll modify the request shortly. I would only ask a favor. Since I won't have access to the request on thevillages.net any longer, it would be nice if somebody could post here or pm me...I'd be very interested in seeing how the group proceeds.

And I still hope it can be a summer-long thing, possibly on other nights to accommodate all that are interested.

I'm working with a very nice lady at the tee time office to see how it can be handled, but it's not really that big of a deal anyway. Worst case (assuming the tee time is approved), the remaining three show up and play, and if they bring a fourth he/she should be able to join.

One obvious option is for somebody with a thevillages.net account to go in make a totally new request. I won't delete my request regardless and will keep you updated as things change. especially as the request is approved or not, which should be Monday.

Bottom line, this should not keep the group from playing...and having fun!

As a backup, the request I made is still good and will be approved (or denied, though I don't think denial is likely) on Monday. So if tomwed makes a request too, you may actually have options. :)
