Stainless steel
Ladies. What natural cleaning products do you use for your ss fridge?
|
Mineral oil. Put a small amount on and wipe most of it off. It leaves an oil film which makes wiping small smudges off easier. I used to have to clean the darned thing every day - now it's just an occasional wipe.
|
a damp "magic" rag, like a chamois
i've also heard rubbing alcohol works good, too |
A damp cloth with a little Ivory Liquid then dry well with a clean towel.
|
I use a little bit of baby oil. I do not have to clean as often.
|
A good microsoft towel rinsed in water followed by a dry microsoft towel. Works great!
|
It is not Natural but it is the best to clean SS.... "Shelia Shine" Nothing works better.

WD 40 works very well.
|
All of our previous stainless steel cleaned up nicely with a clean cloth dipped into a solution of dishwashing liquid and water followed by another clean cloth to dry.
These appliances are always streaked after I use that method. I have tried all kinds of cleaners with the same results. I don't want to put oil on them. I want them to FEEL clean to the touch. They are driving me CRAZY. |
I use windex, not natural, but works very well.

I have tried Windex, doesn't work either. it leaves streaks too. I don't care HOW unnatural it is, I would like it not only to BE clean, but to LOOK clean. I often wonder if the folks who design our kitchen appliances have ever used kitchen appliances. I have had stainless steel appliances in the past in two different homes and they cleaned up nicely with soap and water and CLEAN rags. |

In our last house, I tried many things. I found that once you go with the oily-type stuff (Weiman wipes, Pledge, etc.), you should stay with that type. A spray will then not work because you have effectively put a protective film on with the oily-type stuff. You would have to somehow get all of that off, I guess with really hot, soapy water. I might try the mineral oil thing and see what happens. |

I have heard that our pooches like the taste of mineral oil. [emoji2] |
Also wondering if there is a solution to....
The ding in stainless steel appliances. Have tried dry ice with no success..
|
Would vinegar mix work? Trying to stay as natural as possible? Tks ladies

I asked at Lowe's what they recommended, and they demonstrated for me how they clean their SS appliances in the store. It's a smelly, oily spray they sell there, not cheap, but effective. You use just a little on a soft dry rag; it lasts a long time, and the smell and oil disappear quickly. The clean surface lasts for weeks. Steel Meister. I use it on appliances but not on the stainless steel sink.

Twenty girls are coming to my house in an hour. I hope they like the food but not notice the streaked, but clean refrigerator and ovens. sigh

Somehow I suspect your gathering will be a smash hit. |

I hope it works as well for you if you try it. |

We had no issues with stainless in our previous house. We also have another issue (need a separate thread) that our Whirlpool electric stove top (black) never wipes clean. |
I use a product from Walmart or Lowes called Weimans stainless cleaner. Was recommended by a clerk from Best Buy. Works great.

I have nothing useful to add but am so impressed that you lovely ladies clean anything every day! What else gets a daily doing, out of curiosity?
I don't even make the bed every day, so that's my baseline. :) |
Another vote for "Sheila Shine",
I have black appliances and a black quartz sink, a little Sheila goes a long way. The plumber suggested the product. Home Depot sells it, and also on line at Amazon. Spray on cloth, wipe and bluff. The shine lasts and no finger prints. |
I think it depends on what "kind" of stainless steel surface you have. I used Sheila Shine right off the bat on our brand-new LG s/s fridge in 2007, and it left a horrible, streaky mess.
Some brands' s/s has a fingerprint shield coating on it. Some brands' s/s isn't even s/s. |
WD works for me no streaks wipes clean
|
I never found that using "oil" leaves an oily surface. It just takes the fingerprints off, and you buff the surface to a clean shine, the same way it works when you polish your wood furniture. Clean as a whistle and very little effort.
I've used Pledge. Now I use the Weiman wipes. The mineral oil idea sounds good too. And mineral oil is natural, isn't it? If so, OP's question is answered. |

Only one poster recommended what I use daily in my housekeeping business; Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish.
Stainless Steel Polish | Stainless Steel Cleaner It is petroleum based, which is natural. I prefer the aerosol to the pump sprayer: http://weiman.com/Weiman/files/42/42...59d3513943.pdf |

I don't like the wipes. I guess that is why they make both types of cleaners.
I clean the glass tops with Softscrub. I wipe it on with a paper towel and rub and rub until it dries into a thin film. Then I continue wiping with a clean paper towel until the top shines. Next, I wipe it with window cleaner. I don't use Windex since I discovered Sam's Club brand of window cleaner. It is amazing. |
