My Dream Up In Smoke!

I wanted to post "we are finally here!". Our house was under contract with a closing date of July 24th. The movers were called, packing had begun, and goodbyes were in process. We had arranged to stay at the home of our friends (who are up north) for three months, with our dog, while we searched for our forever Villages home.

The 4th of July we decided to have one last barbeque with my mom and my sister and her husband. Unfortunately, our house caught on fire. While there is a lot of damage, everyone is ok, including my dog. The buyers have backed out. I cant say as I blame them.
We are so distraught. Our beautiful house is a mess right now and we are staying at a hotel until the cleanup is done and power is restored. It seems our dream is up in smoke.

gerryann 07-12-2015 05:05 PM

So sorry. Don't give up your dreams. It will all work out in the end. Just keep up the faith.

mixsonci 07-12-2015 05:14 PM

How heartbreaking. Keep your dream alive. It will happen, just take a little longer than planned.

Lovey2 07-12-2015 05:22 PM

awwww....how terrible....so sorry!! BUT..."everyone is ok, including the dog", and there you have it! As long as you guys are OK, it will all work out. The Villages will be here whenever you can manage to get here. Have faith, and ... we'll leave the light on for ya!!

graciegirl 07-12-2015 05:37 PM

I am so sorry. So very sorry.

tippyclubb 07-12-2015 05:44 PM

This is horrible and my heart goes out to you. Please know everything will work out and your house will be restored to its original condition. Your dream of living in TV is still obtainable, but it may take a while longer. The good news is no one got hurt.

shcisamax 07-12-2015 06:27 PM

That is bad luck. I am so sorry. Things will work out. Keep the faith.

goldseekur 07-12-2015 06:34 PM

So sorry to hear about your house fire. But you nor the dog was hurt and "things" can be replaced. It may not look like it now, but things like this usually happen for a reason. Hang in there.

blueash 07-12-2015 06:47 PM

And it is even possible that your rebuilt home will sell for more than your pre-owned home as it will have everything new!

elizabeth52 07-12-2015 06:55 PM

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It is a really difficult time. I just can't believe it! I actually could close my eyes and see myself and my husband dancing in the square! I'm just heartbroken. But, we will regroup and who knows what the future will bring. I'm just putting one foot in front of the other right now.

Exactly. When our next door neighbors house caught fire, everything was replaced. The house looked better after the fire than it did before.

mrdarcy 07-12-2015 06:58 PM

You are loved and cared for here. We'll just have to wait a little longer for you to get here.

Christine G 07-12-2015 06:59 PM

How awful for you, but thankfully no casualties. Must be so heartbreaking, and wish you the best future possible.

Thank you so much!

coalminer 07-12-2015 07:09 PM

We had a similar experience. A pipe froze and broke while we were here. The water wiped out the kitchen 2bathrooms , laundry , and more. After we rebuilt the house at the expense of the insurance, we were able to sell the house for more than we originally expected. It was stressful and inconvenient but in the end we actually made out. Hopefully you will have the same results.

CFrance 07-12-2015 07:14 PM

Everything everybody has already said! I'm so sorry, and so glad you are all safe and uninjured. There will be a home waiting for you down here when yours is put back new. God speed.

jimmemac 07-12-2015 07:14 PM

We are so sorry to hear this-I just can't imagine what you are going through but I offer my prayers for the best!

missypie 07-12-2015 07:29 PM

So sorry that this happened. I can just imagine the stress involved. As was mentioned before, perhaps after renovations the place will look and feel fresh and you'll get more$$ If you believe, then you'll know that this happened for the best. I know easier said, but it has happened to us many times with different circumstances. Bless you and your family.

bagboy 07-12-2015 08:17 PM

Your day will come when you can call yourself a Villager. Putting one foot in front of the other will keep you going in the right direction. And that first sip of wine when you are finally here will taste sweeter than you ever imagined.

pbkmaine 07-12-2015 08:50 PM

Terrible news! Hugs to you.

Barefoot 07-12-2015 10:45 PM

I'm so sorry to hear about the fire. But it is excellent news is that everyone is OK.
Sometimes obstacles are put in our path, but have faith! It will work out even better than you imagined.
Before long, you'll be dancing in the Squares and loving life in TV.

jblum315 07-13-2015 04:32 AM

I am so sorry this happened to you. But glad you and the dog are OK. I hope you didn't lose your precious things that can't be replaced - like family photos etc. Good luck and God bless.

golfing eagles 07-13-2015 06:18 AM

Sorry such an awful thing happened to you, but objects can be replaced. The important thing is that everyone is OK. Remember, only your short term PLAN went "up in smoke", your DREAM remains intact

2BNTV 07-13-2015 07:35 AM

" Never give up on your dreams".

So sorry this happened to you but you will get here.

The dream didn't die, it just got delayed.

CathyandSteveG 07-13-2015 07:50 AM

I too am so very sorry this happened. We are still "waiting" for our buyer to come along....so I know how you feel. You want it so bad you can taste it...and waiting to get started is so difficult. I know they say everything happens for a reason....and I keep telling myself...in God's time. If i place it in His hands....then i have to let Him be in charge.

We have had the wettest summer i can ever remember and people do not like to go house hunting in the rain....our home has been on the market since june 16....and we have not had one single person look at it. So we keep working.....and when it is the right time....it will happen.

I hope and pray your repairs go swiftly and smoothly....i hope you sell your home with utmost speed.....and that everything goes your way. I rejoice that everyone is ok....Take a deep breath.....it will be ok....and dancing in the town square will be here before you know it! Best of luck and best wishes for you and yours.

elizabeth52 07-13-2015 09:49 AM

Thank you everyone for your good wishes and kind words. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. But if this is God's way of saying this wasn't the right time, A little subtlety would have sufficed. I am someone who can take a hint!

Everyone have a dance in the square for us!

Abby10 07-13-2015 10:36 AM

So sorry to hear this news. Praying that you get through it and that the light on the other side is brighter than you could have imagined

I hope your buyer comes along quickly and you're living the Villages dream soon!

EnglishJW 07-13-2015 11:09 AM

We want to add our voices to the TOTV Chorus. Thankfully everyone is fine. The house can and will be repaired. When that happens, you will get your dream back on track. You will be welcomed with open arms here in The Villages.

kcrazorbackfan 07-13-2015 06:41 PM

Oh, wow! That is incredibly awful for y'all. Keep your chin up, everyone here will be waiting for you.

caseylou5 07-13-2015 07:34 PM

Keep Dreaming

So sorry for your loss. There is something greater waiting for you.
Keep the dream alive.

Vinish 07-20-2015 09:12 AM

Dang, what rotten luck. Glad everyone is okay. My best friend in the TV and the person who introduced us to TV is from Saratoga Springs. He moved to TV about 6-7 years ago and loves it. When you get down here, PM me and I can introduce you to my friend from Saratoga Springs.

G'day,

Vinish

GeonJulie 07-20-2015 10:58 AM

In some states the buyer has to complete the sale. Insurance should cover the problem and you could move.

justjim 07-20-2015 11:42 AM

"If you do not change directions, you will end up where you were headed in the first place". I'm not sure who said that but he was likely talking about perseverence. Just a "bump in the road" so hang in there.
