Grateful for Rain!

So many storms passing nearby recently missed us! Today I had many perennial butterfly plants installed. Hurray for the rain!

No need.I have a sensor that decides if the grass needs watering or not.

A couple of the rains last week, happened overnight. Sun all day and rain, while we are sleeping.

It doesn't get better than this!!!

That's the way I like it 2BNTV. Rain at night, sun in the day. Skip the lightening though.

Is that a rain sensor on the gutter or something else more sophisticated? Thanks

Those sensors are about as reliable as a long range weather forecast. They use a sponge or cork like substance, from what I read, that deteriorates over
time then don't function. They should be serviced yearly. I've had them on my past 2 homes during the last 15 years and turned them off.

Rain sensor connected on home next door, irrigation came on last night as usual almost before the rain ended. They are snowbirds.
Sun sensors and rain sensors are a good idea if only they actually worked...

I've never heard a positive comment about rain sensors except for Bosoxfax's post.
Bosoxfax, was your rain sensor an original installation by TV?

Yes it was . It's just over 2 years odl .I've never had it serviced & it does what it supposed to do.

I can't seem to trust our rain sensor enough to leave activated while we are away.... And the brain surgeon that put ours in did so under a large tree. Neighbors I talked to don't trust theirs either.

Kitty - show us some pictures and name the plants.

Jima64 07-19-2015 08:58 AM

The real name?

Are they called butterfly plants or is there a name I should ask for at the plant store. I do have a lot of four o clocks all over the fence line and yard wyich they seem to like.
