Guns for Seniors?
I read that the Social Security Administration is considering removal of guns from seniors too incompetent to handle their Social Security checks.
Excellent idea! If someone is too far gone mentally to handle their money, they are a great risk to themselves or others if they have a handgun. |

Why not remove from illegals and criminals?

But, in the world of liberal insanity, this idea is always floated as a seemingly rational policy. WTF? |

Nothing else going on right now so I will play in this silly game/thread/bait!
How did one blow by one of the reqirements of this new startling rule/law/whim? As in how is it determined who is incapable of handling their money? Who would it be that determines/makes that judgement/WAG (wild a$$ guess). And assuming that ever got off the ground which it would not. The next hurdle is how to determine who of the folks on that list have guns? Or maybe it starts out with determining who of all seniors getting SS own guns? And if anyone still willing to continue playing the already lost cause game, just how would the government go about getting these guns from those determined incapable of handling money? If the lark ever got that far which it would not, it would come down to enforcement. So we know right there is another set of decisions, right. Is this one of the laws to be enforced? Another precedent that most of us do not like is the illegal aliens allowed in this country with no enforcement. So if our name is on the can't handle money list, and you have a gun, whether they find out about it or not, no worry....right? To keep it and violate the law would be illegal, right? no problem. The illegal aliens have set the precedent for us so don't worry...just squander your SS and go out and get another gun! Maybe the stupidity of the premise of this thread comes across in the above. If not, somebody will have something rude to say about it any minute now!! :024:  |
Sounds good to me that those too mentally far gone to handle their money should have their handguns taken away. Hopefully, their family would do it out of good sense - just as taking away car keys when someone gets too old to drive. If the family won't do their duty, call in the police or some government agency. You do know that the Motor Vehicle Dept has the authority to do that, don't you? The car is a deadly weapon in the hands of an incompetent person just as is a gun.

I am hopeful that Pres. Clinton will do an Executive Order to remove handguns from all citizens over age 70. No need for old timers to have guns. They will just shoot themself or others by accident - or while in an age induced rage.

My grandparents live in The Villages and I have seen too many geezers swilling their cheap drinks and driving thier golf carts while drunk. They should be jailed for the safety of all villagers. Everytime I visit, there seems to be more. When these old vets start drinking, they re live thier glory days in the military even though most, I expect, were drafted and went in kicking and screaming for thier two years. I vote Democrat and we young people are the new "we, the people". Get used to it. Hillary in 2016! |
Hardly any seniors incapable of doing their finances own a gun. Probably most in nursing home. How ridiculous. I would worry more about them driving

Yes, poster 17, I started the thread. Someone asked for the link and I provided it. Doubtful if the "proposal" was anything more than a paper some office in
SSA wrote and it certainly will get nowhere. Why would any news organization even put it out - except to get more conservatives angry at the Administration? Well, no matter, nothing will come of it. Yes, I would be more fearful of people driving cars past the time they should give it up. Taking keys away from a parent or spouse is a terrible thing. It makes them feel useless. I imagine most of us had to do that with parents sometime. Someday, it will happen to us, too. Next topic? |
So how well do the armed elderly do with their self defense weapons... I offer this recent case where once again no gun would have been a far better choice. Fortunately this gun toting senior survived...

You can vote and have your opinion. But you have zero credibility based on the mode of discussion you use. You think belittle folks like calling us seniors geezers. In a rare moment when you are in thinking mode here is a revelation for you. I am a grand parent who lives in TV. And you have categorized some of us as geezers. Hence you are calling youe grand parents that as well. Only confirms your characteristics. Your last statement also needs some thinking about to be valid. "I vote democrat and we young people are the new ...." Don't you mean to propose " we young democrats..." Because you sure as hell are not including the young republicans in your wishfull, disrespectful, name calling catharsis. Disrespectful to your grandparents. Disrespectful to your party. You need to change your outlook which is limited and understandable when the only view is through your bellybutton! |

They will also have their very own group of 'old vets'. Will the poster continue such disrespect for their own age group? |

I also don't think you have the balls to confront any one of us draftees face to face and make the same dumb a$$ comment. Coward persona hiding behind the keyboard as usual. |

Why would I give you any personal information about me? Forget it. Ageism? I stated there are lots of old geezers who get drunk on thier cheap drinks and drive thier golf carts while drunk. These geezers should be locked up. What is the problem with that? Do you want them driving drunk in thier golf carts? I also said that the old vets gather to relive thier glory days in the miltary - even though those glory days were 50 or 60 years ago. How many of these old vets went into the service on thier own volition? Not many, I guess. Nothing ageist there. Are you for driving drunk in a golf cart? Did you enlist? Do I really give a rats ass? |
