I found my Heart
We lost our little guy 13 months ago and have had a large hole in our hearts all this time. Today we came home with, not a replacement, but a way to both respect his passing with the love we had for him by giving that love to another special family member. Although unsure at the the time of adoption, just 8 hours later, we are both for sure we did the right thing. I feel that special love coming back into my heart that has been absent for 13 months. If your grieving for the loss of a four legged family member, honor that pet by jumping in again. I know already, we will not regret doing so.

I remember when your little guy died. He was around 17? and used to eat an egg in the morning. I'm very glad you've found someone new.

Such good news. Congratulations on your new addition. I couldn't live without my fur babies. :coolsmiley:

I'll add my congratulations as well. May your new friend bring as much joy to you as you will to him/her.

When you lose your baby only you can know when the time is right. We too found our new babies and never regretted new dogs in the family.

I wish the best for you. |
Ah, Grandfinch, I am so pleased for you. I remember when your other precious baby passed, and felt your grief. Our Little Bear, adopted by us when he was 12, also had heart failure as well as kidney disease. (we knew that when we adopted him, but he was about to be put down) We had him for 3 wonderful years, and he gave us much more than we felt we gave him. He was well loved, and spent his remaining years in a happy home. Our newest baby, Jaspar, is also helping to fill the hole in our hearts left by Bear's passing. Every day is an adventure, and from my own experience, I know you will come to love your new baby more with each passing day.

Lucy is very lucky to have a new home. It only took us five days to find someone to fill partially the hole left by Sport, but Beau has pushed his way into our hearts so much I have sometimes felt that we did not give Sport enough time on bereavement.

Heck, I still miss our 20-year-old cat Fletcher, who died in 1990. Best cat ever. Acted like a dog. Followed me everywhere. Sigh. |

I now have a 15 year old dog who is deaf and he has very bad cataracts. I love and treasure him even more than I did when he was a puppy. I know the sad day will come when he'll pass over the Rainbow Bridge. I will miss him dreadfully. From a lifetime of having dogs. I know that the best way to lessen the pain is to get another dog. Not as a replacement, never that. Every dog is unique and holds a special place in your heart. We've found that it's especially rewarding to adopt a rescue. Best of luck to you and Lucy. I know you will give her the best of homes. And I bet Mr. Buster is smiling. |
We lost our beloved Shih-Tzu, Sable, 2 yrs. ago this last week. We had rescued her and a Cairn Terrier, Chloe, on the same day since they had been raised together. It broke my heart to have to put her down (cancer). Chloe was really lost as she didn't have her playmate anymore. After a couple of months of showering Chloe with attention, she was still lost, so we rescued a 6 month old Morkie and named her Trixie. She has been a godsend for Chloe and for us, but, every time I see a Shih-Tzu, especially a black one, I still get sad.
