Alf Needs a Home

I am moving back to Connecticut and cannot take my Alf with me. He is a pug/corgi mix and looks mostly corgi. He is almost 6, well behaved, very house broken, good around other pets, walks on a leash, crate trained, sweet and very loving. I originally rescued him from the Humane Society and that would be my last resort before I move in September. Please help me find Alf a loving home. Email me at raccugliag@hotmail if you can help.

You definitely need to post a photo of Alf. You can click on Edit, go advanced, and click the little paperclip and attach a photo.

jnieman 07-30-2015 08:22 AM

Actually instead of clicking the paperclip, scroll down to manage photos if the paperclip isn't there.

Stoneybrook 07-30-2015 09:50 AM

Unfortunately I do not have a digital camera and would not know how to get the picture on the internet if I did. However, I have pictures of Alf on my camera and could text them to anyone interested. Alf is red/beige, 35lbs , has the true corgie bat ear and is absolutely adorable.

jnieman 07-30-2015 10:12 AM

You could email the photo to yourself off your phone. Then download it and attach it to the ad. Just want to help Alf. Pictures speak a thousand words.

Stoneybrook 07-30-2015 11:28 AM

I don't have a smartphone so I don't think I can email from it, but I will try. Thank you for your concern and help.

Avista 07-30-2015 01:21 PM

Call pug rescue of Florida. They place pugs and pug mixes. Also check, and see if there is a Corgi rescue n Florida.

GeoGeo 07-30-2015 01:24 PM

By any remote chance do you have an actual photo of Alf....not one that is on the camera, but one that is printed on photo paper. And do you have a scanner? If you did, you could scan the photo and save on your computer, and then be able to add it to your post.

Perhaps you could have a neighbor take a picture of Alf and email it to you.
I'm in Canada right now or I'd offer to take a picture for you.
Jnieman is right, a picture speaks a thousand words and will definitely help Alf find a new home.
Best of luck to you.

Photo of Alf

We sent you a PM. We would be happy to meet up and take a digital photo of Alf and help you to post it. Agree with the comments that a photo will greatly help your chances to find a new home for Alf.

Stoneybrook 07-31-2015 07:24 AM

Have spoken to both central florida pug rescue and florida corgi rescue. Both were sympathetic but said they do not take in mixed breeds.

CFrance 07-31-2015 09:20 AM

I have pictures of Alf that Stoneybrook texted to me. Unfortunately, my smartphone does not allow me to forward them to myself so that I can put them up here. Does anyone have that capability on their smartphone (mine is very basic) that would agree to PM Stoneybrook with their phone # so she could text the pictures? Then you could either put them up or email them to me and I will.

He's really cute and looks kinda like Alf!

Crosby sent me a PM - what a smart dog he is!
Cros told me he would really love to have a little six-year old brother called Alf.

And did Crosby give you any suggestions as to what to do with Isa the Cockatiel in order to stay legal with the two-pet rule?:ohdear:

Don't answer that.

Here's a picture of ALF.

Lovey2 07-31-2015 07:20 PM

Aww...he is the cutest. I think my Babydoll (cat) is as big as him, tho. I wish I could take him, but I can't. I think the picture will help...he's adorable.

Bonnevie 11-12-2015 04:08 PM

poor Alf never found home

when I was looking at the Humane Society website for what items they need I couldn't resist looking at the dogs. Poor Alf was there. It breaks my heart. The picture doesn't do him any favors. He's not a "pretty" dog...but would make a great pet. If I didn't already have two, I'd take him because I'm a sucker for a sob story. I worry that the shock of being in a shelter after having a nice home will make him withdrawn and further hinder his adoption chances.

plimit56 11-12-2015 07:30 PM

He is doing very well there, gets lots of walks and exercise and attention. Hopefully he will get adoped soon. He is a corgi mix.

Thanks for volunteering there?

Maybe we can get the word out about Alf.

plimit56 11-12-2015 08:59 PM

He was in Sunday's paper, nice picture of him. Really is a nice guy. Yes , I volunteer there.

It breaks my heart also.
I feel very sorry for Stoneybrook, it must be extremely painful to see a beloved pet go to a Shelter.
Alf sounds like a well-trained dog, I hope he finds a home soon.

Taltarzac725 11-13-2015 07:34 AM

I'm so glad to hear that. I really hope the right person sees the beautiful dog in him and adopts him. My recent rescue had been in various shelters and rescues for over a year and a half. was adopted out and returned one month later--the adopter said he was a crazy dog. He looked so sad and dejected when I saw him and was immediately drawn to him. he's the sweetest dog ever. he's still adapting--tends to get nervous, but slowly realizing he finally has a real home for good.

Sometimes it does take time for dogs or cats to get adjusted to their new homes and environments and day to day changes. You have to give them a chance to be themselves because you do not know what their previous life was like and all they want to do is show they love you in the end.

This post was written July 30.
I guess poor Alf has been at the Humane Society since September.
Fingers crossed Alf will soon find someone to love him the way Stoneybrook did.

I was just about post that. I hear his belly now clears the jump by more than an inch :)
