Associated Press Typo, Today

OK.

You gotta see this.

It's the "Associated Press." I am talking the AP, writers for the universe or whatever. We all have a typo or two from time to time. But the AP! I just love a good typo. It does not take much to amuse me. And it's the AP. Even better fun. This one is really out there everywhere. Unless somebody caught it by now. But I have captured it here on TOTV for you all to see.

OK.

I had to put it in political because the article is political and I was afraid somebody would get me if I put it under "Fun Stuff" or whatever that forum is called.

The article is about potential VP choices for both parties.

You can just skip all the political :edit: and go right to the last line of paragraph 10 where it talks about McCain possibly picking Lieberman.

You know, we all know that sometimes a candidate has got to do what a candidate has got to do. But don't you think the Republicans should be a little more mannerly about this one?

See for yourself: (last line of paragraph 10.)

You wonder if that was done accidentally on purpose. After all, the r is not near the p, i, c, or k on the keyboard.

Re: Associated Press Typo, Today

When I should have been doing something useful tonight, I ended up sitting here looking up stuff on Google about Nedra Pickler, the writer of typo fame in my post above.

Well, it turns out that she has been known to be a favorite of certain conservatives.

Sooooo, typo? Freudian slip? On purpose?

I guess some things we will just never know.

When I looked back at the link to check the name of the writer so I could look the stuff up, I noticed that the time on it had changed. I don't know how that works technologically. I sure hope they can't change that word in the last line of paragraph 10. It is way too funny, no matter what your political bent.

(But I don't get how that time changes in the link. I guess I don't need to know.)

Hi Boomer - a Freudian slip many people would say.

I copied the paragraph in case it is changed.

"His top contenders are said to include Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Less traditional choices mentioned include former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, an abortion-rights supporter, and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential prick in 2000 who now is an independent."

If she is leaning conservative it does not seem likely it would have been done on purpose :)

Re: Associated Press Typo, Today

But Bucco, when it comes to politics, it's all about the degree of the lean. Or at least for me that's what it comes down to. Uh oh, sorry, I did not want to get political.

Freudian?

I believe Freud said "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." so I guess a prick is a prick.

BBB I thought this topic was leaning toward the psychological rather than the political side.

But then, if you put the two together and mix them about - you get political Freudian slips.

The article has been taken off the link you provided. It must have been a good typo in an article that had too many hits!!!!!!!!!

Guest 08-20-2008 10:18 PM

Re: Associated Press Typo, Today

I was afraid that would happen. I did a cut and paste - and posted it here.

Re: Associated Press Typo, Today

HB, you are a genius. Thank you for catching it before it got away. I knew it had to be only a matter of time before the AP caught up with TOTV. But it looks like it took 'em a little while.

Hah!

For those just tuning in, the glaring typo was from Nedra Pickler, a political writer. It was on Google News and made the rounds yesterday.

HB was thinking ahead and recaptured it for us from my link. See Hyacinth in this thread at 9:27 PM yesterday.

Boomer

Uh oh, HB, what if they send someone from the Bureau of News Speak to take us away? This is a bit Orwellian, is it not?

Ms. Bucket,

You did goodly. The original story is now missing from Boomer's original link.

I would have never known.

I must need a seeing eye dog....I can't find the link. But is this the one that called Liberman a *rick?

I saved the entire article (photo and all) in a word document, and am glad I did as it's been pulled off the AP link. I just don't know how to post it on TOTV.

Travel, what about cut and paste.

good save hb. however, i believe our over-eager b3 may have made an unwarranted assumption that a typo was indicated. i personallly see it as a desired evolution of character, intelligence, and experience that Joe L could grow into a viable conservative (?) gop possibility from the dregs of being a 2000 democrat vp prick.

Hey Munc,

We (I) can only hope. I am worried that Johnny is going to cave. I got way too carried away in that VP question thread the other day. Sometimes I reveal far too much about what I really think. But I really, really want to be able to vote. McCain has shown bravery before. (Ya think?) I am a kind soul who hates ridiculous taxation. I really feel that I have nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. But for now, I really must run away from this computer before I am caught up again in a political rant like I did in that other thread a couple of days ago.

Dear Mr. Tony, Mr. Admin, Sir:

Should I expect the Thought Police or the thugs from the Bureau of News Speak to show up at my door to haul me away? Or is this considered scholarly discusion? - - Wait! I have to run! -- Someone is pounding on the door! :yikes:
