New construction east of Bob Evans restaurant

Does anyone know what they are building east of Bob Evans restaurant on the south side of 466? It is the land where the buffalo used to roam.

coach 08-21-2015 01:47 PM

Assisted living and skilled nursing.

cbandjj@hotmail.com 08-21-2015 02:26 PM

New Construction

I was hoping it would be a restaurant or store, not happy about another assisted living place. Instead of Florida's friendliest Hometown, we are going to become Florida's most assisted Hometown!:grumpy:

David Moon 08-21-2015 02:46 PM

They are building a PDQ over there somewhere.

A PDQ is under construction in Colony Plaza off 466A.

Bogie Shooter 08-21-2015 03:33 PM

It looks like a billboard.

I guess I don't. I won't go that far for, essentially, fast food.

I've eaten at PDQ many times in Tampa.

There must be a need for them, if someone is investing that muchmoney in them, wouldn't you think?

The prices seem to be better than in the north. I may have this entirely wrong, but I seem to remember that the new Providence Senior Home that opened last year in Wildwood, it's at the corner of 466A and Powell Rd., advertised one BR apartments starting at $1900. I seem to remember reading that Sumter Place on 466A inside TV had units starting at $3100. I know from first hand experience, in Baltimore to put my mother in a nice professional assisted living home was $6,500 a month. The cheapest option was living quarters in someone's home with 6 to 8 patients and that was $3,000 a month.

Smart investors apparently know that in a retirement community,
doctors + churches + assisted living facilities equal a winning combination.

DonH57 08-21-2015 07:38 PM

So is PDQ like Sonic or Steak and Shake? Must be a southern based establishment.

I think it came from a former partner of Dardin. It's more Steak 'N Shake than it is Sonic.

Especially with 100,000 people living in a 8 mile by 17 mile patch of land, most turning at least 85 years old within the next 20 years.:MOJE_whot:

They are building a room for every one of us!

Not sure, but I think there was a billboard there and they are taking it down.

They were taking it down yesterday when we went to Crispers and when we came back from Crispers it was down and the fence too. Things move swiftly around here.

You are so correct after all I would like my parents to be close while we're living in the villages. I think having on property for seniors who can no longer take care of themselves A perk for living in the villages

cquick 08-22-2015 09:12 AM

I think there's a real need for the ALF and memory care facilities around here. So many people who moved here 20 or 25 years ago were in their 60's and now they need different living situations. When we starting looking at The Villages about 10 years ago, we visited Freedom Pointe and it's rehab and assisted living facilities. We noticed that there really weren't any others near or in The Villages.

I know it seems as if all the new places are popping up suddenly, but it takes years of planning and applications to build one.

JCM200 08-22-2015 04:28 PM

I'm hoping it's another mattress store.

TheVillageChicken 08-22-2015 04:49 PM

I don't have a clue what is being built. Sometimes I find that the process of elimination is helpful. We could brainstorm together.

I'm guessing it ain't

a fertility clinic
a teen center
a FUBU store
Toys r Us
a Bridal Gown shop
a Hip Hop music store
Trader Joes
Costco

The next gold mine! @ 300K and above, plus extra charges for the service.

Jima64 08-22-2015 06:31 PM

A much needed pawn shop for all the lifted items.

Providence is an INDEPENDENT LIVING FACILITY with fewer services; an ALF has 3 meals/day, cleaning & laundry. Extra services would be help with meds, dressing, bathing, colostomy care, diabetic care, etc. That's where they get you in the pocketbook.

Why would people waste a large commercial tract on a busy County Road for Assisted living, would be more profitable as restaurant(s), shops, etc. How about Red Robin and Bahama Breeze. Site the Assisted living in the back.

rtime 08-25-2015 03:15 PM

ALF according to the county records.

I can understand your next day "quarterbacking" but we are not privileged to all the information to make that call. I too would like to see more restaurants but not necessarily along 466, rather, down South along 466A or 44.

Apparently there is more demand for something else----at least at the present time.

I agree! With the build-up in the southern end of TV it would be nice to see the restaurants, etc to support the growth.

I trust that is a joke, ALF's make buckets of money, restaurants, just a shot glass full!!

Everyone has to live somewhere. I hope there's a space for us in one of them when we need it!

DonH57 08-25-2015 11:06 PM

I'm betting between another assisted living facility or a medical complex but I haven't giving up hope on a Hooter's restaurant.

asianthree 08-26-2015 06:01 AM

Build it they will come. Assistant living 100% full year round. Restaurant 100% four months out of the year.

Restaurants are used year round by all of us here year round. So what is your thought. We eat out year round when we want, especially when evening rains drown out our charcoal fire in grill.

I still say this would be a bad place for Assisted Living right on Highway, too much noise.

golfing eagles 08-26-2015 03:56 PM

Personally I was hoping for any of the following:

Walgreen's
Citizen's First Bank
Village golf carts
Publix or Winn-Dixie
Nail salon
Investment firm
Insurance agency
medical offices
or my all time favorite---a third Walmart

kcamps 11-04-2015 12:10 AM

It's going to be an independent living, assisted living and memory care. The feel is supposed to be more "Villages like". Hospitality driven with care if needed.
