Where are the parents of the normal kids?

If they had to address it at all, they could have had a 3rd category and not eliminate the existing facilities. They could have put porta potties outside for those who do not like the ones in the school.

Yes, it does seem strange until you realize a few things. Go to the Miraloma school website and read all about it. It is a small private school. Boys and girls will not be in the bathrooms at the same time. They are single toilet bathrooms.

So, at a private school, the parents can opt out by havings their kids go to another school.

Even IF they were not single person bathrooms, they would have separate stalls. Nothing to see.

Seeing something would be one of the least issues!

Well then, what would be the issues? Remember, this is a 200 pupil private school. The gender neutral bathroom is a single toilet bathroom and is used by only one student at a time. Just like the gender neutral bathrooms on the golf courses in The Villages.

First time I went to school in the USA, I followed a little boy to the bathroom -- gender specific didn't exist in Germany, France, Iran, Russia., at least not in the schools I attended. You should have heard the little boys shriek!

Like so many things here, this is a big brouhaha over nothing. As has been repeatedly said, this is a small, private elementary school with private stalls and bathrooms.

And making derogatory comments about California is showing nothing but bigotry and ignorance. Yes, it has gays. Yes, it accepts gays and transgender. There are more straights than gays in California by a large margin. Even the Bay Area has a large Republican contingent. It also has conservatives, a lot of wealth and many resources. Way too much posting about why it is OK.
My major concern is about how the school administration rolled over to make these changes for 8 students.
If there were 200 then the other 192 need to change to accomodate the 8.

There is no way that is the right approach.
Provide the 8 with their own unmarked toilet. Leave the other 192 called the majority with what was and has been OK with them.

The issue is the number of decisions being taken for the sake of onsey twosey complaints and then changing the other 98% to accomodate the minority or special interest.

That is not right. And it is what is wrong with America today.
And what is even more wrong is the silent majority that just sits back and goes along with their rights, freedoms and beliefs being mauled by the few.

No big deal? Some are obviously not getting the real issue or like the apparent majority in CA don't care enough to do anything about it........changing the rules of 200 students to appease 8!!!!!!!

Leave the rules for toileting the same. Find a bucket or something better for the 8 that have a problem.

I live in a home that is gender neutral. It is a one stall. We close the door for privacy and only person uses the bathroom at a time. There are family bathrooms in many large department stores like Kohls or Walmart. Whole families go in there at one time. They have taller toilets and smaller toilets. There are handicap accessible stalls for this who need it. There are port-o- potties for outdoor workers or stadium goers. They don't even flush. There are outdoor outhouses for campers. There are unisex bathrooms in some churches because of space issues. On the airplane last week I used a unisex bathroom. Our society provides for all kinds of people, since we have all kinds of people living in the USA. Happy to be living in the Land of the Free, where my choices for toileting abound!

Now I read that professors at the University of Washington have instructed white students that unless they remove/show understanding of race gender and immigrations issues they will fail their classes. In other words agree with us or fail. and this sort of thing abound in the education community

Our schools have control of our children. We trust that they will do them no harm but clearly the radical left have been feeding our kids with multi-cultural nonsense that does little good for preparing them for the business world outside and harms them because they have insisted that any view but radical leftist agenda is wrong and so our kids have lost the ability to debate, do not understanding civics, have lost of critical thinking, view America's history as repressive and colonial. Why is it educators believe they have a right to indoctrinate other people's children on their interpretation of morality? Isn't the purpose of education to show kids how to analyze, interpret and come to independent decisions on their own.

Teachers unions concern the heck out of me because they interfere in the school selection process by parents and in our election process . They protect incompetent teachers and have in many instances backed teachers who have otherwise damaged a child. I do not abide interference of the election process by big corporations/lobbyist nor do I want union leaders deciding. It is pure and simple corruption
