Snowbird Club
Is there a Snowbird Club in The Villages? If not, lets do it!
|
Ooooh... I like! :a040:
|
Sorry, totally disagree.
1. During snowbird season, rec rooms are filled to capacity all of the time. 2. It creates another divide between frogs and snowbirds. I wish the frogs would rejoice in the arrival of snowbirds, see the vitality they bring to this community. Personally, I'm thrilled when snowbirds return and sorry to see them go. So, please don't create something to exclude others for whatever reason. |

I like snowbirds. They are a bunch of really nice people who are fortunate enough to be able to afford two homes. We socialize with many snowbirds and become attached to them and are sorry when they leave. This summer has been really hard on me with the heat. I'm wishing I were a snow bird.

We are torn between being snowbirds, or frogs. One of these days, I may get too old to be a snowbird!
|
A club exclusively for Snowbirds would be as ill conceived as the "Black Miss America" contest. Beauty is beauty, and people are people! We need to be generally united whether it's our Country, State, or even a "Village". Why promote another divisive element in our lives?

I thought I was joking when I started to write this post. Now I'm beginning to wonder. Hmmm. [emoji196] [emoji213] |
I like your thinking o.p. and I don't think it would be divisive if it were for snowbirds that own , not rent... After all, all owners have the same vested interests in TV but snowbirds have issues/concerns that are unique to them. Having a forum to meet, discuss and share those concerns would be a good thing!

I came across a quote not long ago that got me to "thinking". "Great civilizations became great because of commonality; their diversity cause them to fail". Berko
What do you think? I see nothing wrong with a snowbird club. However, it could be pretty big! Lots of snowbirds. |

Please don't create exclusionary practices.
How would snowbirds feel if there was a club just for "frogs"? .... "excluded" is my guess. :(
|
Oh Boy! We are going to need to build more meeting rooms and the scheduling will have to be very precise in order to not exclude any of them, but, there may be a great need for the Snowbird RENTERS only now.
They probably would not be appropriate for the Snowbird OWNER's meetings. And maybe how about a club for people who cut their own grass, etc. If we play this right, we can eliminate golfing and all that kind of fun stuff, and just attend meetings of our exclusive clubs. I love it. |

There are a number of clubs aimed at special interests. Some are for card players, other for politics and some for the state you came from. I think anyone that once to try and get a club going should do it. Why should we discriminate?
|
Why would anybody want to join a club if it doesn't pertain to them. I don't see any problem with a snow bird joining a froggie club or visa versa... but why??? And besides... who really cares?
|
I wanna join the Looneys and Tooneys club, but Bare won't let me.:rant-rave:

AND grown up! (That means a little older) But I don't want to join the Snowbirds Club. I hated leaving and driving up 75, I don't have to do that anymore unless I go to visit the kids. |
I was thinking about organizing a siblings club in the Villages. At first, I believed that having a brother also living in the Villages was unique. It didn’t take me long to learn that we are not alone. Is there a club of brothers and sisters? If not, I may inquire this winter from this band of brothers/sisters if there is interest to meet/greet and share our stories.
P.S. I looked through 112 pages of clubs and could not find one by looking at the club name. |

All we do is moan about the fact that the U.S. government refers to Canadians as "resident aliens". And the fact that we're limited to 182 days in a calendar year! And while we feel privileged to be able to own a home in The Villages, six months isn't long enough! Fingers crossed, there is a bill in the House right now that would allow us to stay for eight months! But similar bills have been defeated in the past. Seriously, we have lots of fun at the Loonies and Toonies Club. I think our membership last year was around 650. Meetings start in November and all Canadians should come! |

As long as you wear a kilt and dance to bagpipes, you'll fit right in. Most of us don't speak French in spite of the fact that French is Canada's second language. As long as you don't sit at a table with Quebecois, your gutteral French will impress us all. |

Absolutely. And especially regarding Trans-Canadians. I really like that railroad.!

As a frequent visitor to the Villages, I have found most clubs discourage non-residents from participating. Very Cliquey. When non-residents try to get together it's frowned upon.
Better keep the nice weather or it's Hawaii next year. |
