I don't really need to say a whole lot here....as I am sure everyone else will....but tonight's DNC speech by Obama was INCREDIBLE!!!

One Speech Was Better Than The Next
 

Man, there were some real stem-winders during that four-day convention. I'll be watching to see how the GOP counters next week. It'll be interesting to see how John McCain tries to separate himself from the eight-year Bush administration, but still tries to maintain conservative principles while countering Obama. Unlike an overtime football game, it might not work out to the GOP advantage to have had the Democrats "go first". But we'll see.

I'll be particularly interested whether they can line up speakers for their four-day affair that are as effective as the lineup the Dems put up.

How in the world did Al Gore ever lose to George Bush anyway? He was terrific tonight. As I recall he was "wooden" and had no personality eight years ago. Tonight he was very effective, I thought.

We still need a whole lot more detail from both candidates before Election Day, though.

Senator Obama took the gloves off! YEAH! This was a historical night, indeed. IMHO he hit every point from the past and every point yet to come. He certainly took the wind out of McCain's sails. Again, I can't wait for the debates. The speech tonight was the one, two punch. The debates will be the knockout!

You know I was thinking about how great he was too. And asked myself the same question....and here is what self answered back.

"Ofcourse he seemed boring after good old Bill! We had 8 yeats of Bill Clinton....the ultimate speaker! Poor Al never had a chance....but he has come a long way....winning an Oscar, etc!"

I thought that was pretty good insight so I thought I might share with you Kahuna!

We have a lot of things that need to be fixed in this country. I hope that one of the candidates has the leadership capabilities to direct efforts towards the oil crisis, the trade crisis, the war, and the economy not necessarily in that order. Being at times a liberal, other times a moderate and a fiscal conservative at all times, I think our problems are going to need the combined efforts of both parties and all people.

I don't know who I will vote for.

I have just written something in the political forum. I have completely been taken over by TOTV. OMIGOD.

I am a "proud American" too. Proud that we finally have an All American ticket for which to vote in November. NO MORE questions about change, we are going to have it. McCain/Palin in November!

No code to it. Obama is a globalist/multiculturalist with a vast and varied array of colorful and not so American friendly associates, not to mention Davis, his Communist mentor and other friends with terrorist connections.
Obama is a very insecure person with a severe complex that stems from his African father's abandonment of him. At the same time, he is a hater of white people, this stems from his connections with his black grandparents and parents Luo tribe in Africa. This we do not need or want as our President. There is a hidden agenda, read all you can about him and you will find it unbelieveable, if you are a true American.
I can't believe there are a handful of so called Americans who would vote for the guy, he is so un-American.

If black folks born and raised in the USA call themselves African American.....what are white folks born here in the USA called? Spanish American? Italian American? French American?

I find the much simpler, unifying term of....American...more defining of the born here citizenry.

Sorry, but I find this to be a completely racist statement. Also, like to point out "A handful of Americans" Over 100,000 people will go out of their way to here him speak. Today, McCain had to bus in people to try to fill a high school gym. I think you're going to find more than your "handful" coming out on Nov 4th to make Senator Obama the next President of the United States. I will vote for him and yes, sid, I am a true American.

Thank you Chelsea...I can't beleive that we have to listen to racist comments like this. It is the year 2008....don't you think it is time for everyone to grow up. Color of skin just doesn't matter anymore. There are many white people in this world that are that are much less educated then Obama and still think they are superior. After seeing the crowd in Denver I would agree that there are certainly more than a handful of people voting for him...I will be in line~!!

I fear that many white men on the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder are very resentful of his education, class, success, etc. What a shame. I think he took out huge loans to pay for his education. Most of us make our choices in life. He made the right one.

While I do not condone racist remarks in any way,wondering why you folks who are expressing disgust with this comment dont do the same with the AGE comments or the various comments about Gov Palin...I just read a poem making fun of age and such and it recevied kudos !!!

You are all entitled to your opinions about what ever YOU measure with and then put my question in it that suits your interpretation. But, please, do allow you may be wrong!!!!!!!

Too many these days are much too quick to read between the lines or judge based on their PC quotient (I have no use for PC as it hides the truth) or some other influential bias.

I wonder....if I had asked if an American born person had European lineage, lets say Germany...would a question about why would such a person refer themselves as German American be considered as racist....I seriously doubt it.

I find there are way to many folks these days who are totally and completely incapable of fielding ANY question at face value. :dontknow:

I've wondered occasionally if some people just sit at the computer and really stupid things come to them on the spur off the moment or if they sit and think as hard as they can to come up with dumb ideas and comments, collect these droppings, and then later log on dump them willy-nilly. It's not a quandary that has kept me up nights, but I have wondered.

No, I do not and would not "hang with him". I read, read and read some more to totally inform myself about candidates. I refuse to make comments and give opinions that are uneducated. Obviously, many people choose to do just that.

Sorry to hear that you take everything you see and read personally. This is not at all a racist statement and wasn't meant to be. I am simply trying to educate those who are not as aware of some of Obama's issues that I have found thru reading many books and articles by those who have studied him. Good grief, is that so wrong?

foreclosures are at 1% of mortgages
the Dow is at 11,300

In 2006 we voted for change and we sure got it.
Now Obama promises more change...HOW MUCH MORE CHANGE CAN WE STAND?

We can all read about the candidates until the cows come home and still know diddily squat. Writers have opinions also. As far as voting records go, there is usually so much crap written into every bill that it makes it impossible to know who voted for what..and I think that is done on purpose. Before you get on the soapbox for any candidate, how do you know for sure that what you are posting is even correct? Just because it was in a book, on TV, etc, does NOT make it fact. Ann Colter makes big bucks to sound like Ann Colter. Ditto for Bill-o, Keith O and the rest.

Ok so I am not sure that your comments earlier are something I would consider to be racist...I keep reading it over and over again....changing my mind....but I lean toward thinking they are....

However while you may not have intentionally meant to sound racist....the comment about his WHITE grandparents paying for it could also be taken as racist, even though it is just a fact...they were white...but I find the fact that you had to add in that one word "WHITE" made it sound a little racist.

It could have been said that his grandparents paid for it....does it really matter whether they were white or not?

Second: I don't know if the comment on his financial college payment is even all true...as he did say he had loans, scholarships and help from his grandparents. He stated on national television in front of millions of people....that he had student loans. Perhaps both of you are right....

I guess my point is that chels may have taken your comments as racist. I think you probably could ask 50 people if they thought it was and you may get mixed reviews. We are allowed to have our opinions....just like you are...but we are also allowed to disagree. Chels thought it was racist....she was offended and told you so. Period. Perhaps explaining some of your comments in a different fashion may help the situation. When discribing McCain his whole genetic make up is not brought up.
