Pet-Friendly Hotel, I-75, Atlanta area, Recommendations???
We will be driving to our TV house soon. We recently have been making the drive over two-days. We usually stay somewhere around Atlanta or Chattanooga, depending on when we get started.
For this trip, we will have someone with us who is bringing a little dog. Can anyone suggest a nice pet-friendly hotel. I have never had to find a pet-friendly and I must admit to being a bit persnickety about hotels. I know that those we have used on previous trips to TV do not allow pets. Any recommendations? Thank you. |
we have used the Ecnolodge in Dalton Ga as a stopping point on our most recent trip from TV to Michigan. Dalton is approx an hour or so north of Atlanta, I believe it was exit 331 on I-75. Pet friendly and clean plus lots of resturant choices with a mile of the hotel.

La Quinta. One in Morrow (south of Atlanta) and one north in Marietta. Drury Inn in Morrow. During the week they both have extensive food layout and free wine & cocktails. Two pets free to a room.
There is also a La Quinta in Chatanooga on 24 north east of 75. Also check out Best Westerns. Most of them accept pets (fee) and have been renovated. |
Best Western Chatanooga 7641 Lee Highway. City Cafe restaurant on premises, which is nice because you don't have to get in your car and go out to eat. 10% discount for restaurants.
We've stayed here with our dog and liked it very much. |
I stay at the LaQuinta in Dalton, GA. Pets are free! It is a really nice hotel and town. They have a lot of restaurants to pick from. It is about a hour north of Atlanta.

Be careful with the pet friendly sites, like Fido. I've seen some hotels that claim to be pet friendly, and it's true they allow pets in some rooms for an extra charge. I've seen hotels on pet-friendly websites that charge $50 per pet for an overnight. |
For all cat lovers, LaQuinta welcomes fur balls, too. All pet owners should remember the places suggested just in case a storm is headed this way and you decide to leave the area.
|
The Hilton in downtown Atlanta is also dog friendly. Most Hilton brand hotels take pets.

Thank you to all for your help. The info you shared was exactly what I needed to know to figure out where to stay along the way this time.

It may have come down due to competition. My favorite dog-friendly hotel is Loewes across from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. It is pricey and charges for parking, but the rooms are beautiful. And they go all out for the dog, bringing snacks, bowls & a mat, and a room service menu for pets. Plus the Vanderbilt campus is right across the street and beautiful for a walk. Well lit after dark. |

The Loewes in BNA is a fabulous hotel. Back when it was called the Vanderbilt Plaza the bar had the best selection of antique single malt scotches I I have ever seen or tasted. |

We travel with two black labs and always stay at La Quinta's. The rooms are always clean, modern and larger than most motels. Very animal friendly and no additional charge.

As things turned out, we stayed at the Drury Inn in Marietta. We liked it. It appears to be well managed. (I was wondering who owned Drury so I looked it up. Family owned. I read a short article on their history. Interesting.) The food available on site is so nice because the last thing I want to do after a long day in the car is to get back in the car and go searching for a restaurant. We will stay there again, even without a pet. Marietta is about 6 hours from TV. We used to drive to TV in one day but then I played my princess card and said I was tired of that hour after hour after hour blur of a drive down I-75. Marietta is about half way. |

That could happen, Fraugoofy. :beer3: I think we have found our halfway stop.
The thing that really surprised me was the variety of food offered in the evening as part of the stay. There were enough choices to make a little dinner, including a nice selection of salad stuff. It is fun to watch the dogs check in. I kept watching for those dogs that drive a Subaru. |
Do keep in mind that one or both of those places only does the food on week days. Supposedly it is for business travelers
|
Thank you for letting us know that, CFrance. This was our first Drury, and also the first time, in a long time, that we made the trip on a weekday. I also was surprised about the 3 free drinks from the little bar.
Drury Marietta is a place we will definitely try again, but it is good to know that my salad days probably will be only on weekdays. |
We plan to stay in Marietta at the Drury Inn again on the way back. But in case we get a little farther into the trip, does anyone have any experience with a pet-friendly hotel along I-75 in Chattanooga? (I did not find a Drury in Chattanooga.)
Thank you. |

But I may check out the Best Western based on CFrance's recommendation. Two pets free CFrance?? |
We travel with a Westie (20 lb) and always stay at a Hampton Inn. We've tried other hotel chains, but Hampton is the best: clean, great towels & shower, wonderful breakfast, reasonable price (no charge for pet), always pleasant staff. Don't know it there are Hampton Inns where you are going, but check their website. Be sure to click filter for pet-friendly (not all Hamptons permit pets). Good luck!

Even with the pet fee, Comfort Suites was quite a bit cheaper than LaQuinta. I just hope we will find some restaurants open on Christmas Day! |
We did not get as far as Chattanooga so we stayed at Drury in Marietta again.
From what I have seen, in two stays, the staff at that Drury is excellent. There was a young woman in the busy dining room that evening. She was helping people and clearing tables. Turns out, she was one of the managers..... I am impressed when I observe managers pitching in and working alongside their staff, instead of strutting around looking pompous or hiding in the office. I like that among-'em-style of boss and have always thought it has to help the overall operation of the business in many ways. |
