Is that the one that inserts the feather/arrow like "things" in the face and pulls the skin up? If it is I have heard that there have been instances of the feather/arrow like things popping through the surface of the skin after a while. My girlfriend back home looked into the procedure and was discouraged b/c of that. However; I'm not sure if that is the lifestyle lift. :dontknow:

No, I dont think anything like that is inserted under the skin. I be;lieve it is a pull skin up cut off excess and staple until healed process, no strings or feathers or arrows.

I would love to hear from someone who actually had the procedure done. I know they're out there!!LOL

I had not looked at this one. I thought somebody needed a ride to their TV visit to experience the Lifestyle. I really thought that.

But now that I see what you are talking about, is this the one where they drill into your forehead and put little screws or something in and then pull your forehead up with little wirelike things and wrap those around the little screwlike things? Or is that the new brow lift? I would be afraid they would drill too far or that I would end up looking sort of like Frankenstein's monster with those bolts or whatever he had in his head. Or maybe I would just end up with a look of perpetual surprise. But I, too, have given this stuff some thought. But that's as far as it ever goes. And probably as far as it ever will. But it is interesting to think about it.

A friend got one of those lifestyle lifts and they attached her upper lip to her eyebrow by mistake. ;D

Quite honestly, they couldn't give me a face lift.
Too scary, and so unnecessary IMHO. Age gives us character...and our husbands start to lose their eyesight about the same time we start to lose the tightness of our skin.

The last time I was at the eye doc, we talked about this stuff. I am curious. He started to describe some new technique that involved something that sounded like this. I have blocked most of it out.

I have found that if you just lie down, flat on your back, and hold up a mirror to look into, and blast a little Santana on the Bose, you can pretend it's 1972 all over again. And it is much cheaper than plastic surgery.

(Are we in that Girl Talk thing? I sure hope so.)

Boomer you are actually onto something that is quite true. If you sleep on your back, gravity helps to pull your face back to a younger look. Try it.

OMG Bare I remember the first time I looked into one of those magnifying mirrors...I had never imagined that a person could see to the bottom of one's pores...but I did. Horrifying!

IMHO, for the money and after reading/looking at this personal experience, I'd opt for a full facelift and not the LL if I were inclined to have any procedure. I did find other personal reports that expressed dissatifaction with the procedure.

A nice smile makes all those wrinkles and sags look so much better. I'm picturing my elderly aunts and how sweet they look when smiling, I can't imagine them having it "cut and pulled tight" and yet I've often thought about doing that. I must be nuts! :o

One more thing ladies..I have noticed that after I know someone for a while, they are beautiful and they don't change. I do not have any old, ugly friends. Are many of them wrinkled and heavy? It could be, but it's not something I really notice or think about.
If you have a negative, mean personality, then I do notice your appearance. So, my friends are all beautiful, vivacious, caring, nurturing, loving incredible human beings and not one of them needs anything lifted or tucked. They have no need to impress me. They already impress me.

Sam you expressed that sentiment beautifully! Isn't it remarkable how exciting it is to meet wonderful people with terrific souls that we may have missed when we were working so diligently in our younger years to be the thinnest, most stylish people in the room? This is one of the very biggest pluses of growing older. :bigthumbsup:

ON THE OTHER HAND!( As they said in Fiddler on the Roof,) If there is something really bugging you about your appearance and its something that makes you very self -concious , I see nothing wrong with a little nip or tuck here or there to make you feel better about yourself. Its a very personal choice and I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above and I for one do admire inner beauty far more then outer appearances but whats wrong with a little nip and tuck if it really makes you feel better about yourself. PHEW! Was That all one sentence??? LOL

Nonie, If the nip and tuck makes a person feel better, so be it. A nip and tuck will not however, change any underlying unhappiness. It could become a never ending battle against time. I have put on 50 pounds since menopause. Does it cause my friends to like me less?
Get to good looking and you may become threatening to your more insecure friends. How my husband feels about me if very important. My GFs are next in line. (I have excluded Grands..they love you anyway) My friends do not care if my eyes bag or I am chunky. They accept and love me as I am. I really don't care how strangers perceive me and I could totally care less if other men think I'm cute, hot, good looking or whatever.
Many of us have to undergo necessary surgery. That optional stuff is just that..optional.
Nonie, you are so beautiful now. If you get any prettier, I might be jealous. :-*

I'm not anti plastic surgery, only the individual can make that decision. Heaven knows I could use some, but I think about my dear friends and how unimportant their looks are to me. (I do like clean and smelling good, though!) It sounds like you've given this idea quite a bit of thought, Nonie, and you are the only one to make the final decision. We're not judging you at all. :#1:

Thank you all so much for the input, I am only in the thinking stages right now! I doubt I will ever go beyond thinking about it. Just having a little problem (mental) getting older. Mabe a psychiatrist is in order rather then a plastic surgeon hu? :dontknow:

Nonie, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!! Sure things are changing! I'm 50 lbs heavier than I was before the big MENopause, also. I sag, eyelids and chin bag, stomach is roly poly, I am starting to wrinkle and my hub and friends LOVE me. I am 52 and know the bags will get baggier, the skin will wrinkle beyond hope, and I accept it as much as I don't want to. I also love me, now you better love YOU!!!! Got it? Cause we love you just the way you are. THAT IS AN ORDER! When you are here full time, we can do jane fonda workout 2 times a week to get the bod back somewhat???!!! Or just dance, dance, dance!!! LOL LOVE YOU GIRLFRIEND, I mean sister!

does anyone else ever watch those "make-overs" on TV where they completely change the appearance of someone---plastic surgery, teeth, etc? I have to admit, I am in awe of the plastic surgeon's skill but don't think it is for me. Can't afford it, don't want the misery that is involved in the healing process, etc., so I will continue to sag, wrinkle and hopefully live to be quite old here in the Beautiful Villages. There are some benefits to the sagging--according to the great Phyllis Diller. "You can have a mammogram and a pedicure at the same time."!!!!

You're right--I have noticed and most of the corrected problems were probably genetic and not due to age. Maybe "our age" would be too much of a challenge for them!!!

Nonie you are such a dear and wonderful, genuine, warm and bubbly person. You make people laugh, smile and enjoy life more. I hope you can see that when you look in the mirror. We all do when we see you. You also have an inner child that you are free to let
loose. I admire all of these things about you.

I have friends, both male and female, who have used hemorrhoid creams to tighted up loose sagging skin. I no longer recall if it worked.

A cousin of Sid's had her breast enlarged and lifted when she was in her 70's - it was something she always wanted to do. She also slept in a round bed.

The idea of going through all that pain, discomfort and swelling is not for me.

I was at the Dermatologist and asked about the lifestyle lift. They also do cosmetic surgeries in the office and the lifestyle lift. They said the lift does not last very long, maybe two years, they have started discouraging folks from getting the lift. Better to spend a bit more for longer results. Also, depending on the amount of character that is in your face, you may end up only draping it and not smoothing it out. Also the lifts have actually been known to try and escape your face and you have to go back to have them tended to.
That's what I found out.
