Baby Boomer Gals!! New Club Idea
 

I started a club for gals born 1946-1964 - (Baby Boomer Generation) It is difficult to make friends in our age group especially if you have moved into an established neighborhood. A new social club where once or twice a month to get together to do something different based on the groups interests. Perhaps a golf scramble game, lunch & a movie, thrift shop trip, etc. A variety of activities that are fun and non-competitive for gals.


UPDATE February 20, 2016: Over 165 gals are part of this group now. We are not registered with The Villages as we do not want a regular meeting at a rec center and we are growing very quickly simply by word of mouth.
We had our first get together at a luncheon at The Waterfront Inn at Lake Sumter Landing on December 17th and 37 women attended! We have various events; monthly luncheon at The Waterfront, potluck dinners, golf scrambles, various day trips outside of The Villages, mahjong, small book club. We don't have an event committee - every member is welcome to organize an "event" and several have stepped up to do just that. We have a closed Facebook page for our members to post various events, invite others for smaller group activities, etc. At this time no dues, no board - trying to keep it simple and keep politics and ego out of it. We have a few gals that each handle a task like FB admin, new member info, golf scramble scheduling, etc.

Hi everyone...my name is Annette, and I was born in 1954. I would love to be part of your group. However, I am only here for short periods of time, as I rent out my house during the winter months, but would gladly participate when I can. There are hundreds of clubs in the villages that people don't fit into. Why is this one so bothersome? I don't get my feelings hurt because I'm not invited into a mens billiards club.

Great to hear from you. I'm compiling a list of gals and you are #19 !! I will keep you all updated via group email. The Rec Dept will be advertising this in the next couple weeks but we certainly have enough interest to make this happen.

No! At first I thought I would do that but it is apparent there are lots of gals all over the Villages and we will be doing a variety of activities so where you live shouldn't matter!

No. I quickly modified after the first day due to interest throughout the Villages! We will be doing different activities most likely so our location can be flexible for get togethers!

Sounds like a great idea - born in 1952 and live in the Village of Duval (a snowbird but here for about 6 months of the year and off and on. I don't golf but love any kind of social get together - thanks.
