Why Won't Governor Palin Speak?
Following the debate Joe Biden agreed to make the "Republican response" to the debate. Governor Palin was offered the same opportunity by CNN, but her campaign declined. Rudy Giuliani presented the Democratic response.
Isn't the "protection" being provided by the Republican campaign managers bothering anyone? If McCain is elected she will be "one heartbeat away". If those that know her best don't believe that she is competent to even extemporaneously submit to media questions only three months before inauguration day, isn't that a concern to anyone? |
Yep!
|
I am very concerned about her obvious inability to speak extemporaneously.
|
Absolutely!
This should be bothering everyone! IMHO you could've thrown a dart at a phone book page and come up with someone more qualified than Palin. But this is serious, very serious. It is my sincere wish that all "staunch" Republicans, take a breath and think about this woman up against the leaders of this dangerous world we live in. This country's beloved Tim Russett died in the blink of an eye, still in his prime. McCain is 72 years old. If people really want to put "Country First" they must consider all ramifications of this ticket.
The choice of Sarah Palin as V.P. goes directly to the poor and impulsive judgment of McCain. He is known for impulsive judgments. The world today is much too dangerous for this kind of crap shoot. :( |

Sleepless in The Villages
I never, ever slip into this political site, although I read it.
However, after the Couric/Palin interview, I am a very unhappy frightened camper. To me, it is just one more big spiraling step down our country's ladder. |
My brother is mayor of a small town twice the size of hers. I don't know why he can't be the VP.

I was reading on CNN that even the arch conservative leaders of the Republican party that were praising her a couple weeks ago, are now calling for her to resign, saying she's out of her league.
|
It is the same reason that they are not letting Sen. Obama take part in the series of Town Hall Meetings that Sen. McCain suggested.

I Have no intention of joining the political discussion but I did happen to read this article on line yesterday. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q...MyYTUxZDkwNTE= |
For those who take great stock in debates, Oct 2 should prove interesting.
I have fewer problems with Gov. Palin not being a foreign policy guru than I do with Sen. Biden not having domestic operations expertise. The ivory tower that the Senate is makes for little concern for the common man. The longer one resides in the "100-Club" the more distant one becomes to the common man and his situation. I like having at least one person who knows and is part of that "common man" society. While all of the others look down upon the land from on high and measure their portfolios in 7 and 8 digits of value, at least there is one person whose feet are on the earth with the rest of us. Politics at the national level should not be the private turf of millionaires' row.... |
It's pretty evident Sarah Palin will not go on any televised show (Meet the Press, etc.) because she is not qualified to answer their questions; and when she gets flustered, her neck gets red & blotchy--just my observation). My husband commanded a small air force reserve base that had more reserve members than the total number of Air National Guard members in Alaska. BTW, the Guard in Alaska has problems meeting their quota of maintaining their number of Guard members. The two-star general there is "in charge" of the Guard members, except for when there is a crisis within the state of Alaska (then Palin would take over).

Because he's not a female! |
It's beginning to seem that Gov. Palin is taking a lot of grief because she is personable and more.
Perhaps if she looked like Michael Moore in drag and sounded like Rosie O'Donnell when mad, her support base may be larger. Yes, I expect flak over this comment, but from reading a lot of the posts, they are very catty and gender-demeaning of a person who has more political success than many others, gender notwithstanding. |
"personable and more"! So Steveo, what's the "more" your are referring to?
In the corporate world we referred to people like her as "grippers and grinners". A smile and a handshake and no depth beyond that. They are all personable but not much "more" is there. She's clueless and that's the problem! The good news she isn't running for president. McCain is' and just two weeks ago today he stated "the fundamentals of the economy are strong". Great pair! |

__________________________________________________ ___________ I am sure this is my naive attitude with this economic stuff, but what I read has nothing to do with the fundamentals of the economy being weak...fact is I have heard folks from both parties say so. This has more to do with greed within the system and lack of someone watching the store, NOT the fundamentals ! |
Catty? Moi?

But, Chels, when one compares Sarah Palin to the bumbling, not on the same page as Mr. Obama, been on the government dole for a long, long time, other vice-presidental candidate with more nips, tucks and hair transplants than Sarah, she looks darn good. :1rotfl:
Thankfully, this election will be over shortly but our problems will be huge for whomever wins. |
The debate about Palin will be silenced after Thursday's debate. Let's wait and see...it will be a no-contest. Palin has no chance.
|
That may be true, Bright, if Biden can remember where Obama stands on the issues. He had some big missteps last week...
|
It's very simple. They keep her away from the media as much as they can because even if she said the sky is blue they would find a way to rip her apart for saying it. She's a white female Christian pro life conservative and the far left including the media hates her with a passion because of it.
Have you seen the footage of some of the far left liberal Hollywood types and others calling her names like a B_____ and even worse? You may disagree with her politics but what did she do to deserve that? I think they hate her more than Bush. Why? If she's so incompetent, all they have to do is sit back and watch her loose the election for the GOP. Easy as pie, I'd think the Dems would be happy about it instead of so down right mean and nasty. |
If Palin is so competent then why is she at a "Debate Boot Camp"? She needs educating...that is not debatable.
Sure wish I could see other's posts to refer back to as I type. Any way to do that like it was in the other forum? Would be a nice perk. |

But, Bright, look how long they have been schooling Obama so he can finally respond to some questions and not just give canned speeches. They are both coming from the same class, "early politics".
|
Come on Peachie
Are you actually saying Palin and Obama have the same background experience? I can't believe you would say that! I'm disappointed with you, Peachie. Thursday will be the eye opener...just wait and see. Even Republicans are backing off. |
I think Tina Fey should debate Joe. ;)
|
I think they have been working with Mr. Obama a long time, he was not at all impressive off script earlier and is coming along nicely. Sarah may do just as well with as much time. But, Bright, if you read my earlier posts on different threads, I did indicate the debate Thursday night will tell me a lot. She may not be the candidate I want at all but also as I stated in an earlier post, the hatefulness and ugliness directed toward her is amazing. I would like to watch the debate with as open mind as possible because Joe could be my candidate. I also indicated earlier, my husband and I can't afford to live in retirement and fund Mr. Obama's endless projects. I don't think many people living in retirement can but soon it will be over and the real mess will be upon us.
|
Many of us won't be able to live in retirement if the bailout plan isn't approved by the Republicans. What were they thinking?....OH! I FORGOT...it's election year!
|
But you're missing the fact that the Dems could have passed it, and you're right... an election year. But it is fun debating with you, Bright.
My problem is I'm old school, I don't think like the Hollywood group. We lived through and supported the welfare system in Wisconsin before it was improved so we're leary of handouts without handups. |
Agreed!

I thought it was interesting that Palin admitted to watching Tina Fey with the volume off. ??? and again ??? Cared about how she looked I guess and not about what she said. How weird is that? :icon_wink: |

I believe 94 Democrats also voted no for the bailout. Last time I checked the Democrats have the majority so they don't need the Republicans to pass the bill. Why won't they pass it on their own? 1. Because it's a bad deal and they know it. 2. As always they can blame the GOP and get away with it. |
Now do we really want to base our unbiased, intelligent opinions for our candidate choice on how a candidate views SNL? I'm more than amused at how important the irreverent SNL show has become a major factor in electing our next president.
If we are to elect wisely, watch the debate Thursday evening. Joe Biden should NOT get a pass because he is an old Washington insider, listen to the man and Palin. Realize that John McCain and Barrack Obama are the same heartbeat away from death, one! Being younger does not guarantee longevity. God forbid anything happen to either one of them but I have seen enough to know that anything can happen to one or the other at any moment in time. |

I do not pass on emails I receive but the below is interesting and I am not comparing Gov Palin to anyone...just passing on a thought... "Who Am I? I am under 45 years old, I love the outdoors, I hunt, I am a Republican reformer, I have taken on the Republican Party establishment, I have many children, I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office. Have you ever heard of me before now? I am Teddy Roosevelt." |
