ANOTHER...Coloring book group?

There is one coloring book group who meets at Captiva, but it is full with a waiting list according to the rec news.

I bet Santa is going to bring a lot of grown up's coloring books this year.

Any interest in trying to start another coloring book club?

Just for fun and doing together as a group.

I would ! Love to color because there is no pressure except staying within the lines. Otherwise, the sky is the limit

NotGolfer 12-01-2015 09:12 AM

I think there is at least one or two other of these clubs. I believe one might meet at Odell. You can call the rec department for more information I'd imagine, rather than starting yet another club.

You are correct about the one meeting at Captiva being closed. It has a waiting list.

THANK YOU !!! You are right! Odell has one at three on Wednesday Afternoon. No time between dentist and doctor tomorrow. DANG. Maybe next week. :)

Yes I run a zentangle group the fourth Tues of the month and I am going to incorporate coloring into it also and call it Zen art therapy. Everyone welcome to come

hulahips 12-01-2015 08:51 PM

Gracie. I will post something under clubs now!

PeggyS8 12-06-2015 02:26 PM

I submitted a request for a new group the second week of Nov- still waiting to hear back....

ahayward65 12-06-2015 02:50 PM

I'll try it, I just bought crayons and colored pencils. Just need some books now.

When my wife got me a coloring book I thought the poor girl's cheese slipped off the cracker. I can wear a pink shirt and nobody would question my masculinity but coloring, come on. Well she is a sport and watches my dopey television shows and sporting events so I decided to give it a try for the wife. It automatically takes your mind off all the things that people normally worry about. Amazing. Also while looking at homes for sale in TV I have noticed many fine paintings and coloring book work by Villagers. Men...give this a try, your gonna love it. Painting is next for me. Like that guy Bob on a painting show 20 years ago who passed away. Can't remember his last name but he had a voice that would relax you to sleep. Wish we were there to join.

How do you find out about Coloring Groups?

Hi,

I looked in the recreation news and the activity search on this site and I can't find any coloring groups. How do I find them?

Thank you for any enlightenment you can provide.

I love coloring. Am in all of them!! One meets at Odell 3pm the first and third Wed. The other at captiva is closed. My group meets the fourth Tues at colony at 1pm. You can come and tangle or color. Will be called coloring Zen therapy and will be in rec news Thurs Dec 17. Two more groups trying to start up are advertising in this week's rec news. Hope this helps! Hopefully there will be one everyday of week so everyone can fit in their schedules

Pencils or crayons?

I've noticed the really creative coloring books out at stores lately. You who are already into this, what kind of medium do you use? Crayola crayons? Colored pencils? What brands do you prefer? Think I will try this.

If a new club gets started I would be interested. Just let us know on here.

Coloring book clubs?? This must be the circle of life to which people refer.

Post #5 called it zentangle, which I've heard of. Did you try looking under that name?

K.C.Boyd 12-07-2015 08:20 AM

Gracie would also like to start coloring, have been looking at the books but have not bought any yet. I think a group would be fun, can not do Wednesdays but hopefully another day would work, maybe we will find one.

graciegirl 12-07-2015 08:26 AM

Zentangle is nice......but

I would like to have coloring books, even the old fashioned kids ones and the new fangled ones and one group is full with a waiting list at Captiva and one meets every other Wednesday at Odell. If someone is trying to get another one going, you really don't have to ask for the art room in the large rec centers, any room with tables would do because coloring isn't messy and wouldn't hurt the tables.

Just getting together and doing something together, even without teaching is fun, because after awhile the chatting builds new friendships.

A treasured poster brought a wonderful coloring book to our daughter from her recent trip to France. There are all kinds of wonderful coloring books and all kinds of folks who enjoy coloring.

My table mates at the captiva coloring group told me about 2 groups forming north of 466 one was at Paradise and one at Chula Vista. I didn't pay too much attention as to the particulars but the rec centers would know the details. I'm thoroughly enjoying the new friendships forming in our group. Lots of time for visiting.

The fad mystifies me, possibly because I am terrible at coloring.
My brother, in second grade, returned a coloring book page to the teacher with a large X he had marked on it. He said, "Can you give something I can learn?"

tomwed 12-07-2015 01:12 PM

Have you ever considered making your own coloring book? This looks interesting.
How to Make a Coloring Book

I'm not one for coloring but I was thinking of fun things for a 9 year old in another thread and picked the Butterfly Rainforest
4.5
(24) · Tourist Attraction
Interactive butterfly & bird exhibit
3215 Hull Rd · (352) 846-2000
Open until 5:00 PM.

I recommended buying the kid a kid's camera. Now I think the kid could take pictures of butterflies and the software will turn it into a coloring book. So anyone can color it. Nothing is too expensive and it makes great memories that are personal.

There is room for creativity in anything we do, even coloring in coloring books and there is room for another thing which is enjoyed by many; coloring within the lines and following directions and in the end having a pretty picture. I don't think I could quilt. I have to have quicker gratification, I don't think I could needlepoint for the same reason. It isn't lack of character, rather a certain way my brain works.

We are all different and that can be good.
