Really feel sorry for Steve Harvey (miss Universe contest host )

I really like Steve, he is so funny and honest. Guess everybody has one of the O SHYT monuments. IMO it's now you recover from it. I think he will. I sure hope so.

Steve and contestants are getting more press than they ever dreamed of. I didn't know the Miss Universe pageant was still in existence. (Why?) I think they'll all survive.

kstew43 12-21-2015 07:23 PM

Still cant believe they took the crown off one girl and put it on the other girl.....I would of just died.....

waiting for Steve Harvey to say....Gotcha.....just kidding...but it never happened.....

dewilson58 12-21-2015 07:29 PM

Good thing it's just a beauty contest.

kcrazorbackfan 12-21-2015 07:47 PM

I like watching him on Family Feud and his own show. He's set for life if he quit today. That was one of those faux pas moments of life that EVERYONE has had/will have.

tomwed 12-21-2015 07:47 PM

This would have never happened if Trump was in charge.

That's what he tweeted.
"Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!"

Says a lot, doesn't it?

fred53 12-21-2015 07:57 PM

Steve Harvey...he screwed up...took the blame. Let it die.

Carla B 12-21-2015 08:19 PM

Well, but did the judges hand him the wrong slip?

He is a caring comedian. They will probably take him back long before they take back the angry loudmouthed hair-challenged squirrel.

I agree. It could have happened to anyone. But for now, I don't think he'll find out if we post about it a little more.

I'm just curious how he read it wrong. I would hope they'd only have one name on the sheet just to avoid this sort of thing.

The card is out there on the internet. He actually showed the card in an interview. It had the runner-up and the winner's name on the same card. I believe he should have announced the runner up's name and than the winner is a given. Kind of funky. Maybe they will change that in the future.

Ahh. Clarifies what happened, but maybe it should be changed in the future! :)

tomwed 12-21-2015 10:30 PM

He'll never get a job as a game show host.

:agree: Embarrassing for all concerned.
Heartbreaking for the contestant wrongly crowned.

Me too, not to mention the swimsuit competition and the gown. What an embarrassing night. I hope I don't have bad dreams.

Jima64 12-22-2015 08:06 AM

I know you are being sarcastic now Tom with his Family Fued success each night. Have a nice holiday.

I admit that I haven't watched many of these pageants but I think all the ones I've seen the first runner up is announced first then the overall winner is announced. So the card was the same as its always been. Steve didn't do his "homework". This wasn't "family feud"and at this point in the pageant it was very serious. My wife watches the "feud" and she said he "messes up" on that program on occasion---she says he is funny.

I agree anyone can make a mistake. I've made my share. In this case, I don't feel sorry for him. If others want to---that is okay too. Steve didnt do his "homework" IMHO. I do feel very sorry for the two contestants. He is getting a lot of publicity for the Miss Universe Pagent.

Always enjoyed The Fued , playing along with my parents

Dumb mistake!

There are some significant monetary awards for the Miss Universe Title.

Miss Colombia is not letting go of the Miss Universe 2015 title that easily - CBS News

This does have a large economic impact on a winner's life.

Tal: I believe the Miss anything contests are silly. However Columbia takes this event very seriously. So, given Harvey's faux pas I have painted a picture to my friends of the Columbians storming Harvey's home just as they did in "Scarface" "Say hello to my little friend"

redwitch 12-23-2015 07:51 AM

Let me start by saying that I really like Steve Harvey. His talk show frequently brings up social injustices in very real ways. He's a good talk show host. That being said, this mistake was pretty inexcusable. Apparently, he missed several rehearsals while out drinking and gambling. Maybe he should have paid more attention to his job and less to his fun.

That's amusing but hopefully the class of Miss Colombia will stop anything bad from happening to Steve Harvey. Miss Colombia Speaks Out After Miss Universe 2015 Debacle - Us Weekly

I knew a Miss Nevada at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) who also went to Earl Wooster High School. She was an actress at the University of Nevada, Reno and is still involved in theatrical community productions in Reno, Nevada. She was not someone I interacted with personally though as she was quite a bit out of my league when I was at UNR. This lady was probably very much interested in getting into the movie industry but I assume that did not pan out for her.

Steve Harvey's faux pas might open a lot of doors for Miss Colombia though.

I have been trying to catch up with people I knew in Reno, Nevada via Facebook and I now have family in Reno, Nevada due to my late younger brother's recently discovered fathering of now 33 year-old woman. She had been her mother's and my late younger brother's secret until Chuck's (late younger brother) daughter went searching for a birth father. Quite an experience to discover a whole new branch of the family tree while treading very carefully by exchanging many pictures and stories and the like.

Jima64 12-23-2015 08:02 AM

Steve Harvey was able to turn his life around after many personal troubles. He will learn and progress from this. He accepted the blame and did the right thing.
