What is a moderate
This was posted on another thread, and is reflective of the thinking of the far right. The problem isn't in the "far right". Everyone else is the problem.
" The problem is the supposed moderates saying they are conservative, when in reality they are just RINOs. The so-called Independents are just liberals that are trying to camouflage the fact that they are left. Most Republicans today are not "far right" but have just had enough of the left wing bullying attempt, where liberals accuse conservatives of being at war with women, war against the poor, in the rich's pocket, racists, gay bigots and religious fanatics. When the reality of it is that they are just plain ole Christian conservatives maintaining the same old morality they have always had, but had up until now, keep their mouths shut. Just because liberals have been running roughshod all over the constitution in the past decade or so, does not mean that anyone that opposes them is a far right radical. But, make believe you are average and normal all you want, and watch America go European. And I say European as a slur intentionally. It is you liberals and so-called moderates that have changed the norm with the media tool. We conservatives have remained stable and patriotic, while you have made a big to do about regressing to European socialism and calling it being progressive. It is you that have changed American morality by insisting that the Bible is fiction and that God is a myth. It is you liberals that have tried to convince our children that being homosexual is normal, that abortions are not sinful, that drugs should be legalized, and that vulgarity is common place. Don't blame America's downfall on the conservatives. If my opinion is deemed evil to you, then I wonder what you base your opinion on. It certainly isn't anything American Everyone else is the problem and not us." How can anyone say the above is rational thought? Give us everything that we want, and we will call that a compromise. Everyone that doesn't agree with us 100% of the time is the problem. Members of the Republican party that don't agree with us 100% of the time don't belong in our party, and will get rid of them. Freedom of Speech only applies, if it is speech that we agree with. Everyone else should shut the hell up. The only press that should exist is Fox News, because it is "fair and balanced". A perfect example of this was on the morning show that said they were going to have a discussion of both sides of issues with their two guests, because they are the "fair and balanced" network. Their two guests agreed on everything, and that is their idea of both sides of issues, and being "fair and balanced". Only our opinions matter. This is democracy that the far right wants in the US. I am a moderate. Whether the person that wrote the post that I referenced wants to believe it or not. A portion of the Republican party has moved to the far right. They are kicking moderates out of Washington, because these people want to work with the Democrats. Trump is feeding thought, and doing very well. Washington is broken. So, we should elect a dictator, and get our way on everything all the time. The reason things aren't getting done is the far right idea is only their opinions matter. When the Hastert rule gets put into effect, the far right wins, and Americans lose. Whether you want to hear it or not, the far right is the problem. |

I'm sorry that you feel so slighted. But, as you know conservatives are mean spirited and we do have to keep up our facade. Free advice: If you don't like a political forum, go find one that you DO like. I understand that Huffington has one that should suit you. |

Isn't it interesting, you completely ignore the statement that I referenced, but I need help. Why don't address that statement? You didn't in the either thread. Seems like, you are really either running away from it, or totally agree with it.
The standard operating procedure on this board is never, I mean never, address the comments made by a poster, but always degrade him. Conservatives and the far right Republicans are two different animals. |

The Republicans may have moved a bit right, but the Democratic Party has moved way, way left Fox News does so well because all the other mainstream media is in the tank for the progressives Freedom of speech is being shut down by the liberals, especially on college campuses. Anyone who disagrees with their progressive thoughts is a racist Like I said, get help |

What is a moderate? I consider Rockefeller Republicans moderate.

This is an interesting and timely topic but it is not getting the necessary and thoughtful process it requires.
First and least important many people may be liberal on some issues conservative on others, etc. Secondly defining someone's beliefs, is like defining beauty which is in the eye of the beholder Third, mores and customs alter such terms. At one time a moderate was a traditionalist. Today a traditionalist is considered to be far right and a progressive is far left. Socialist and progressive are co-mingled Fourth our demographics have radically changed, age, sex, nationality and have as a collective, altered our mores, traditions, beliefs. Having said that I consider myself to be a moderate (traditionalist) believing in one's rights and freedoms of speech, religion, etc. I believe marriage should be defined as a union between one man and one woman . I believe I have the right to own a gun (s). I believe that the nuclear family is the unifying requirement for a nation. I believe that the 10 Commandments are excellent guidelines. I believe in the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence and while thee documents ought to be argued as to their intent and meaning they should not be altered. I believe in patriotism and America's exceptionalism. Label me as you will but do not underestimate my love of country. Personal Best Regards: |

The comment that you are trying to dissect, that offends you is pretty much describing the liberal on here, and many of them in D.C. You seem to have a problem with the truth, so how can anyone argue with you? Your first two paragraphs can also be used back at you. I am sure you agree that there was NO compromise by the Democrat controlled congress OR Obama in the first two years. So, your statement is a double bladed sword. Fox cable news network is the number one cable network in the world, not because ONLY conservatives watch it. If not for liberals getting their information from it, it could not be number one. Liberal, mainstream media is not informational and does not give anything other than a liberal slant. If you don't like the ONE conservative network, then don't watch it. Why should FOX compromise for you? Are you really that naive? You call yourself a moderate. Fine, that's great. Apparently moderate has a different definition now. Am I allowed an opinion, or does your comment mean that if I don't agree with you, I must be right wing? My opinion is that conservative is the same now as it was forty years ago. Unfortunately, the Republicans in congress are mostly moderate to left leaning, with a sprinkling of new freshmen conservatives. Most Republicans that I know of are RINOs. Being pro-life is NOT being right wing. As a Christian, it is not optional. Wanting a smaller government, less expensive is being conservative, not right wing. Wanting immigration laws that are on the books, enforced is not being right wing. Wanting a balanced budget is not being right wing, it's being conservative. Keeping dangerous drugs from children is not being right wing, it's being a responsible adult, usually and mostly coming from the conservative side. Believing in the Bible is not right wing, it used to be from both the Republican and Democratic side. Communism was ALWAYS our enemy. Believing that slavery was wrong, is a conservative trait, not Right Wing. And was not endorsed by the left either. I can go on and on, but I believe you get the idea. Maybe, just maybe you should examine the current state of affairs in this country and think about what makes a fanatic and what is normal and conservative. I do not belong to the Tea Party, but from what I have read, they are both Republican and Democrat with a sprinkling of Independents. From what I read of what they believe, I do not see one issue with what they profess. Now, if you want an honest debate, which I doubt then why don't you give me an idea what you would define as Liberal versus moderate? In stead of baiting everyone with your attempt to make one comment into a whole thread, a comment that you didn't originate, why don't you do some explaining, instead of crying about how you are misunderstood? It seems like you are trying awfully hard to convince others (or yourself) that you are not liberal. Does anyone care on here where you stand in politics? It's just a conversation related to politics, not a resume'. |

I agree the micro aggression BS on college campuses at this time is just ridiculous. Now that no liberal would ever dare to make a racist remark the now non oppressed have to come up when something new. However your comment that freedom of speech is being shut down by progressives is just a bit silly. We all the right to freedom of speech but they have the same. Now me I'm a self proclaimed Democratic moderate as I am socially liberal, fiscally moderate and hard right on immigration. I would never vote for Bernie if I had a choice. I found myself in that situation during Carter's reelection, I couldn't vote for him but I had a choice and I made it. |

The one thing that may be in dispute is marriage being between a man and a woman. I am from Mass. almost the birthplace on gay marriage. The Mass. State legislature stopped the initial petition to cancel gay marriage, because they knew Mass. citizens would have vote the law out. Then, gay marriage took off in other states. So, Mass. took a pat on the back for a job well done. I could care less about gay rights. When you feel you have the victim of injustice, and now things are starting to go your way, you are going to push real hard not to return to the old ways. I will cut them some slack. I don't think that most people put conservatives/moderates in the far right category. These two categories certainly, and rightly so, don't consider themselves as RINOs. The Tea Party, or whatever they call themselves now are the far right. They are getting traction by making a lot of noise. Trump, and Cruz are feeding on this. I can't believe that if either of these two are elected how anything will change in Washington. |

I am laughing at you. You start very post the same way. Although it is totally beneath me, and a total waste of my time, I will show you what an idiot you really are. I don't give a damn what label you want to tag me with, because I will consider the source. "Conversation relating to politics" read the first 3/4 responses in this thread. What conversation would that be? There was no compromise in Obama's first two years, because it takes both parties to give a little, and the Republicans would not have any of that. He worked hard to get Republicans on board in the AFC, and the only one that would even listen was Olympia Snow from Maine. Obstruction was the name of the game in the first four years of his presidency. Being called a liberal doesn't bother me at all. The truth as you see it isn't the truth in the real world. I could be wrong, but I don't remember word one about my political beliefs as being liberal, conservative, or far right or left. Reagan was a conservative Republicans looked up to. Now, he would be considered a moderate due to his working with the Democrats to get things done. Republicans that want government to work by working with the other party are RINOs. They are realists. You are not going to get your way 100% of the time in a two party system. Concerning Fox News, they call all the other news organizations the liberal press. Maybe they are number one, because, in their words, they have no competition for the Republican viewers. The problem that I have with Fox News is if you are going to say that you are "fair and balanced", then act that way. Is that being naïve? "Fair and balanced" has no meaning. I have said it many times the only news program I watch is Morning Joe. You know Joe Scarborough, the RINO. You will get both sides of an issue there. At the gym, and dentist office, I have to watch Fox News, and I go away shaking my head all the time. Wanting a balanced budget isn't the sole goal of the far right or the Republican party. It is the goal of both parties. The problem is on how to get there. When you sign a pledge that you will not raise taxes, that trumps your belief of getting a balanced budget. The Democrats will not allow you to cut social programs, and social programs only to get to a balanced budget. Wanting a balanced budget, and being totally inflexible on how to get there is stupidity of the highest order. Who the hell wants dangerous drugs in the hands of children? Where did this come from? The Bible, Communism, and slavery when have they recently ever become an issue? Concerning immigration, deporting all illegal immigrants is a right wing belief with some conservative, and moderate followers. The bipartisan Senate bill gave a path to citizenship for the illegals as long as they followed the steps in the law. The Senate bill was not brought to the floor by Boehner, because of the Hastert rule. The far right was the one that blocked the bill going to the floor for a vote. Isn't helping the less fortunate a Christian belief? Then, why are social programs that help the less fortunate the first ones on the chocking block to go? I am not trying to convince people of anything. If they think that only their views are correct, then they won't listen to a word that I say. There is a world that exist outside of their bubble. Whether they want to believe it or not is totally up to them. In any case, I really don't give a damn. |

I believe that many on this forum are here to point counter point on the current issues of the day. Unfortunately we have a few who either like to play the childish game of "dirty dozen"or who clearly suffer a deficit. I don't like labels on people, in some respects, because they attempt in one word to define a complex human being. so I work hard at labeling each thought or idea streaming from a person separately As to the gay issue I never viewed it as a civil rights issue and I don't care what people do in their bedrooms . However I do care how this movement is damaging our society everywhere. I do care that they attempt to eliminate gender and I do care that they demanded the definition of marriage be re-defined. Opponents will label me bias, a homophobic etc but its not the person its the act. Gays thrived in corporations to wit look who runs Apple today. No their quest was to demand that their lifestyle be viewed as normal hence their need to re-define marriage. Hollywood et al continue to push this movement into mainstream America because to normalize it is to socialize it and isn't it great to have a gay friend. conversely I would speak out against anyone who would attempt to humiliated, bully etc Again the problem with labels are they are too confining. Not all Tea Party members totally believe in all the same things. People join or support an organization because they may find some of what they believe etc. I am a Catholic but I do not believe everything the Church teaches. Some call it being a cafeteria catholic but I call it reasoning. Finally I attempt to respect other people's opinions Personal Best Regards: |

Your original rant was answered in detail. Your reply was juvenile at best. Since you do not allow for anyone to answer you point by point without lapsing into a deranged rant, I will ask you the question that you were asked earlier: What have the Democrats accomplished of note, other than give away the farm? And if your really believe your rant about Democrats wishing a balanced budget, why did they never have a budget for the first part of two terms of this administration. We are not far right. Trump is not far right. Like you might have said earlier, he was a Democrat before he was a Republican. I don't believe you know what "far right" means. Convince me that you do and find me someone that you believe is "far right" in congress. I realize that you won't answer my questions, because all you do is try to convince yourself that you are not a flaming liberal, and that you are the only normal one on here. Perhaps you are too young to know what normal is. Normal appears to be a thing of the past, now that we have you "progressives" ha, ha. So, before you get angry at the world and this forum, remember that you don't have to participate. YOu can always put your little smart phone away and go join some radical protest down at Barnes and Noble or something. And yes "there is a world outside the bubble." Where do you think all of us adults originated? And there are others that feel the way we do. It's just that we are senior enough that PC does not matter and the loud "gimmies" of the lazy take away from the unfortunate that have worked hard and had some hardships. You liberals attempt to work guilt trips into any debate, when the fact is that you have grand ideas with no idea of how to pay for them. Taxing the rich is ALWAYS your answer to using the credit card. Either contribute to the debate or live with answers that you don't like. But, you were answered, got your attention, so either be satisfied or .....not. I was kind enough to allow you some attention so learn to live within your limitations. |

As far as the comments about certain posters being un-Christian, I have to agree. Christ spent his life helping the poor, sick and needy. He didn't speak about homosexuality or abortion. He embraced those from the lowest rungs of society by saying that those for whom much had been given, much is expected. He taught love, hope, compassion and forgiveness. He warned against those who would manipulate the word of God for their own selfish ambitions. He opposed greed and encouraged giving. You know, the exact oppose of what Republicans stand for. |

You were kind to me. Why did you say that to make you feel better about yourself? Well, it didn't work. You are totally transparent. For some reason known only to you, you think what you are doing is normal behavior. In the real world when you start very conversation insulting the person you are talking to, that person would tell you to go bleep yourself, and they would be justified in doing so. I answered your questions, because you don't like the answers that isn't my problem. Since all your posts start by insulting someone, why should anyone consider you an adult? I'm angry, and you know this how? Other than Morning Joe, the programs that I watch on TV are sports, and comedies. That makes me angry at the world. That's funny. I am real mad, because people are trying to make me laugh. Well, I am laughing at you. That must make you a comedian. The first rule of a radical is wanting to be entertained by laughing. That is why they are so mad. People can't make them laugh at everything. I don't have a smart phone. I have a flip phone. So, keep on telling me what I am, because you are so good at it. Why should I answer anything that you put forward? You completely ignore anything that doesn't fit in your little world, but I will try. Paul Ryan made demands before he became Speaker of the House. These demands were directed at the people that made Boehner's life unbearable. These demands weren't directed at the Democrats, moderate or conservative Republicans. They were directed at the far right. So, you going to sit there with a straight face and say Paul Ryan didn't know, who he would be dealing with? |

You seem to be so angry, but you still can't seem to communicate any details of what you are blathering on about. Something about not agreeing with Ryan, for some reason. No one has brought up his name in a long time. You seem to jump from one direction to another. As far as addressing your comment, I attempted to answer your different thoughts with directed replies. It is a challenge though. You are all over the place in your anger. I am sorry that no one else was sympathetic enough to allow you a little of their consideration. I did my best to address all of your thoughts(?) and cannot be blamed for not responding the way you wish. I can see why you would probably wish to vote for Hillary, in that you two have a lot in common. Anger issues comes to mind first. At any rate, if you find that you cannot get any satisfaction on this forum, please feel free to attack me at your leisure. My skin has toughened up with age but is still quite resilient. |
