Make a lot of people happy!

Doctor Who 01-10-2016 05:52 PM

I would certainly learn the difference between a 1,000,000 and a 1,000,000,000 very quickly.

tomwed 01-10-2016 05:53 PM

Well, according to Trump, he's worth $10 billion. If the average price of home here was $200k [that's a little low] I would own one and he would own the other 50,000.

I think 5,000 houses would be enough for everyone I know.

Respectfully, I would add three more zeros to my new fortune. A million doesn't go as far as it used to. Could you imagine?

$1,000,000=A million
$1,000,000,000=A billion.

I just need enough to get us to TV.

I would purchase a new Electric and a new Gas cart then decide which one is better.

Cisco Kid 01-10-2016 06:44 PM

I would move to TV.
It is 8* here

I'd do a buyout and keep the cows on 466A

Ecuadog 01-10-2016 10:14 PM

I'd spend most of it on whisky and wild women. The rest I'd spend foolishly.

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 01-11-2016 10:01 AM

Many people have difficulty understand just how much a billion is.

I once heard this example. One million dollars in one hundred dollar bills would create a stack one foot high. One billion dollars in one hundred dollar bills would create a stack as tall as the Empire State building without the antenna.

dewilson58 01-11-2016 10:36 AM

Say the population of the USA is 300,000,000..............spread the $1.3B to everyone, that's $4.3mil each.

ajbrown 01-11-2016 10:55 AM

Just kidding around....

That's why Dr. B. said "Many people have difficulty understand just how much a billion is. "

If I win the lottery, you're on your way down here.

Now if only I could remember to play...

tomwed 01-11-2016 12:44 PM

My only hope is that a relative or friend wins and gives some to me. The odds are about the same.

blueash 01-11-2016 12:54 PM

Fun with Math

I once heard this example. One million dollars in one hundred dollar bills would create a stack one foot high. One billion dollars in one hundred dollar bills would create a stack as tall as the Empire State building without the antenna.

The thickness of a $1 bill is .0043 inches, or 1000 bills is 4.3 inches thick. If the bills are $100 bills then 100,000 dollars is 4.3 inches and one million dollars is 43 inches thick not 12 inches. One billion is 1000 times one million, so one billion in bills is 43 * 1000 inches = 43000 inches. The Empire State building is 1,250 feet high, not including the antenna which is 15,000 inches. So.... One billion dollars in 100 dollar bills is, if my math is correct, almost 3 Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other. This assumes that the 100 dollar bill is the same thickness as the one dollar bill, and that the bills are flat and with no space between bills.

Actually Tom, I think the odds are worse if a third party is involved, and in some families the relative as an intermediary is the kiss of death.

Actually Dr B may wish to check his story. A US $100 bill is about .0043 inches thick.

I leave the math to the rest of you...

Besides, when you fold that wallet in half it will be twice as high.

Can it be that different?

With a billion dollars, you are coming to The Villages?

I _may_ keep a house here just to swing in once in a while to hang with some of the little people :a20:

Would have to upgrade my lot so I can land my helicopter for a quick get way. Once I am that rich, I would not be able to deal with greens running at 7 for long :duck:

Duckfinger2 01-11-2016 01:52 PM

Who ever wins the one billion, will find out they have more relatives and friends they never met before !

I know every year we get a little shorter. But you don't have to call us little people. [insert extra small winking emoticon]
