Mouse problems all sudden?

My mouse won't scroll correctly. When I want to scroll down, it goes down some, then, when I try to scroll down some more it scrolls up or jumps up and down. I have to go over to the down arrow and grab it to scroll down or up pages.

Seems like the mouse doing the opposite of my command when rotating the wheel?

I suspect some upgrade missed it up. When I go into control panel try adjusting don't seem to help? Tried another mouse and it worked for while, which I thought fixed it. But, short time it done the same thing?

If this was 15 years ago I'd say it was RAM. How old is the computer?

villagetinker 01-19-2016 09:56 PM

I have found dust to cause problems like this.

Topspinmo 01-19-2016 10:37 PM

About 3 years, I check for any dust?

Kahuna32162 01-19-2016 10:48 PM

Re Boot, fixes 95% of all problems.

Topspinmo 01-19-2016 11:00 PM

Thanks for the suggestion, but I probably booted up several times? I shut my computer off at least twice week and if not I restart it. But I don't shut it off and unplug it from the outlet, so even though power button in off power still fed to it.

Try a new battery in the mouse?

Perhaps it needs an interior cleaning?

Did you change to Windows 10 - I have had scrolling problems since I did. Have to go into device manager and reset the Human Interface Device continuously. Microsoft is at a loss how to fix it as well.

Is this a wireless mouse?

Topspinmo 01-20-2016 09:34 AM

Yes, Windows 10, but it does it in 8 also. No, not wireless and I used another mouse after short time done the same thing. Haven't had time to check for dust. Wasn't that dusty two months ago when I cleaned i? But, will check again.

Try a different USB port.

Is it a laser mouse or the older mouse wth a ball in the bottom? If a ball, remove and clean the bars of dust and lint.

duhbear 01-20-2016 09:29 PM

Sounds like either a battery problem or a lint problem or both.

Kevin and Luci 01-20-2016 10:25 PM

Time to clean your mouse balls.

Topspinmo 01-21-2016 07:53 AM

no mouse balls, it laser, not wireless so no battery I think. Will try another port. I suspect it's windows 10, didn't have this problem till after up grade.

also, when typing, it sometimes slow to respond skipping letters whn (example) I type (makes me look dumber than I am:024::22yikes:). But, may be the site I'm on due to all the adware/spyware that's down loaded in the background that the antivirus has to sort through. Just going on line and hear get 180 up adware downloads hidden in the back ground snooping where I was surfing before. I also my have something to do with the amount of traffic on site, heavy users IMO equals slow response?? This morning good example SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW to respond!
