Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark

Some friends and I played Fox Run at Glenwood Golf Course today. From the 4th hole, all the way past the 7th hole, we could hear dogs at or near the Doggy Doo Run park barking and barking and barking and barking. Really loud!!!!

It wasn't a problem for us because we were through there in a fairly short period of time, but, we discussed, what about all the people who live along that area. How can they stand that all day long, every day?

The train passes my house, but is gone in a minute or two, but those dogs........GAWD........they didn't stop. I can't imagine what it must be like to try to sit outside and listen to that.

Barefoot 10-25-2008 10:04 PM

I think the Dog Park was operating and approved before the houses were built. And I would guess DDRR has the appropriate zoning in place.

But I don't know, I'll leave it up to the expert (Tal) to replyl

juneroses 10-26-2008 07:38 AM

I've biked along 101 and heard the continual barking of dogs also BUT it was coming from a property across from DDR and not from DDR. (Disclaimer: I have absolutely no connection with DDR).

Taltarzac 10-26-2008 07:46 AM

This dog park borders farmland.

The Doggie Doo Run Run is at the corner of CR101 and CR104 and has its east side shared with Fox Run at Glenview Golf Course as well as its north side partially shared with it.

The two areas though were most of the barking is as well as the residential area owned by one of the Doggie Doo Run Run partners-- Gene and Scott--are closer to CR101 than to the golf course. These are the 2 areas for small and large dogs as well as the dog day care areas.

There are horses, pigs, breeding dogs and other animals close by at neighboring farms near CR101 and CR104. As JuneRoses mentioned though there are noisy dogs at nearby farms as well.

You even hear a braying ass from time to time that seems louder than any of the dogs' barks.

There were even reindeer at one time near the Doggie Doo Run Run.

The Doggie Run Run did change its hours from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. to accommodate noise complaints. It closes at 6 p.m.

Juneroses, good observation.

Talkhost, IMHO, I think that the noise you are hearing when you golf isn't coming from DDRR at all. I've been at DDRR when there was no one else there and it was totally quiet there. And I've heard constant barking coming from the west side of CR 101 ... across the road from DDRR. I think there must be some type of boarding or breeding facility there.

When I feel like "getting away from it all", I head for DDRR and it's very serene environment. I sit on a swing in the back field, that borders the golf course, and it is usually extremely quiet there.

All dogs are accompanied by their owners. Even when it is very busy at DDRR, I've never heard a lot of barking going on.

Taltarzac 10-26-2008 08:06 AM

The farm that became Doggie Doo Run Run...

used to be a pig farm from the scuttlebutt at Doggie Doo Run Run.

The pig farm predates the Villages' houses but I would doubt that Doggie Doo Run Run does.

I'd personally rather have barking dogs any day than the smell of a pig farm. barf

Taltarzac 10-26-2008 08:24 AM

Actually Barefoot...

I talked with a neighbor of the Doggie Doo Run Run last week who was out barking at my dog-- the man was trying to get my dog to bark-- who said that he had 15 pigs and that his sow had recently given birth to piglets. I am not sure that this 15 pigs included the piglets or not.

Is 15 pigs a pig farm???

I have never smelled anything from the house where the man said last week he had 15 pigs.

Talk Host 10-26-2008 08:37 AM

I've never seen a barking pig.:a20:

Tal,

The braying asses you talked about near the Doggie Run?

Do they post on the forum?

Its the back field that adjoins the Fox River Run section of Glenview Golf Course.

Barefoot mentions the back field of Doggie Doo Run Run which does abut Fox River. Every time I have been there it has been quite quiet as far as barking dogs go.

I was at Doggie Doo Run Run yesterday afternoon and the only barking dogs I heard-- except when I entered the walkway into the DDRR-- were dogs barking from neighboring farms.

You do hear what sounds like a pig being slaughtered too.

I am not sure this happens on the political forum of TOTV but you sometimes hear what sounds like a pig being slaughtered at Doggie Doo Run Run.:laugh:

Barefoot 10-29-2008 05:37 PM

The last two afternoons at Doggie Doo Run Run have been extremely quiet.

All braying asses have obviously been otherwise occupied.

Taltarzac 11-08-2008 09:38 AM

Braying asses. Hear for yourself.

The Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR) is just off the Intersection of CR101 and CR104 if anyone is interested in checking out the braying asses and other noises there for yourself. http://doggiedoorun.homestead.com/home.html

Caveat: some of the information as well as the pictures on this DDRR web-site are outdated by quite a bit.

This park is about 3/4 of a mile north of CR466. CR101 runs parallel to US 301 between Oxford and County Line Road (CR102).

Your non-aggressive pooch will probably love you for it as long as your dog gets along with other dogs.

Still have not heard all that much barking while at DDRR compared with what you hear from farms and some homes (in the Villages even) surrounding Doggie Doo Run Run.

schotzyb 11-08-2008 09:45 AM

Bark, bark, bark, bark,

I am usually there twice a day and have witnessed very little barking considering the number of dogs there at times.

I am at DDRR every day. Usually in Big Dog's paddock. With my two dogs, one large and one small.

If you are there every day, I've probably met you!! But didn't realize you're a member of TOTV. What is your dog's name?

schotzyb 11-08-2008 10:14 AM

Bark, bark, bark, bark,

Her name is Ringo. Nice name for a girl, huh?. Already named when we rescued her. She is a Border Collie/ Collie mix.

On that smelly note, Hancle704...

You do have to really watch where you are walking at Doggie Doo Run Run as even though you are supposed to mark you dog's duty with a flag so that DDRR employees can pick it up, not all dog park users flag it as they are often too busy socializing, cannot locate where their dogs went, or simply do not follow the rules.

Barefoot 11-08-2008 01:36 PM

I'd love to know what other TOTV members use Doggie Doo Run Run.

I know that Tal goes a lot, but he is usually in small dogs so I don't see him much. I actually met JohnZ there at "Bark in the Park" last year; such a nice guy. Where are you JohnZ?? We miss your posts.

I know F16 said he'd take Patience there. And JohnnyM was saying that eventually he plans to take Prancer there.

Anyone else a DDRR fan?

Taltarzac 11-08-2008 03:10 PM

Barefoot I have seen Kathie1 there at DDRR.

Kathie1 has been at DDRR without her small dogs though.

I am not aware of any other small dog park section TOTVers even though I cannot say that I talk a lot about TOTV at the dog park. I have mentioned TOTV once in a while to people at DDRR but the usual discussions at DDRR are about health of DDRR people, the weather, politics, various people's technology problems and/or car troubles, and the dogs at DDRR.

Best Mom 11-08-2008 09:45 PM

My love Benson (cute 8 year old pug) goes to DDRR and just loves it. He likes the people as much as the other dogs. Course we are still in NY, but Benson get sooo... excited when I even say DDRR up here, he starts to whine.

Great place!

Taltarzac 11-09-2008 01:12 PM

There has been an award winning pet photographer at Doggie Doo Run Run...

...the last few days taking pictures of the pooches in both the small and big dog sections. She does good work from what I have seen of the portraits she has taken of pets at Doggie Doo Run Run.

This is one of her award winning pictures from a few years ago of a pet. It is the 5th place one "Why Maraner"
in this web-site. http://www.nationalphotoawards.com/j...stwinners.html

Ringo? The guy with the big nose and glasses?

misspris 12-30-2008 08:58 PM

About those barking dogs.......

I was reading posts from earlier in the fall and came across the bark, bark, bark one. Since we moved here in the Summer we have heard those dogs even in the middle of the night and early in the morning (like 4:00 A.M.) Many of our neighbors have complained, even to the police. Apparently something worked because recently they have been better. We back up to 101 and we love the area but if you were a light sleeper those dogs could drive you up the wall. BTW....many thanks to those responsible for 'quieter trains'. That a plus too!
