I went to the Social Groups and Chicago Natives and clicked join - waiting for acceptance of my request to join. Didn't realize this was a restricted members group and was membership subject to approval. (Don't let Nonie in!) . |
LOL
Don't want too many Nord Siders in |
Hey! Whats wrong with us nordsiders? Just cause we drink Mogan David wine?????:loco:

Didn't Realize it was restricted
Sorry, I didn't realize I set the group up as a restricted group, didn't mean to.
Of course, all Chicagoans both north and south-siders. Cubs or Sox fans. Just bear with me to unlocking the door for you all. And yes Nonie can come in too. |
Thanks Jim, I know chuck was just razzin me. I did post , hope we get some others to post also. Sure does bring back some great memories!

Chicago Natives Now a Public Group
I just figured out how to make the group public, so you will not need permision or an invite to join the group. Feel free to join us for a trip back to at least what I remember growing up in Chicago.

Try it again Chuck. The group is now public.

(Vrdolyak) zip code was 60617 as a kid Been to Western Ave on St Pat's day Know's what a vienna beef hot diog is? 105th and yates, that's about as south as you go, neighborhood was called South Deering.:coolsmiley: What a great city and we still enjoy it today Respectfully, J.Capporelli Cand. for Commissioner, Sumter County |

Had both Old Style or a flagstaff, but preferred Siebens (Chicago local), brewed near the corner of Larrabee St, & Blackhawk St. Rainbow Beach (3111 E. 77th St.) too far south for me to go as a kid. North Ave. Beach was my stomping ground (North Ave. & Clark St.). Not just a burger, a cheeseburger. Remember SNL cheeburger, cheeburger. Oh that billy goat, too bad for the Cubs. I think my old bus route was 8. Alderman (Bouler) Zip Code 60610. Except when I was a kid we didn't have zip codes, our Mail Zone was 10, in my old neighborhood (near north side). Ever Been to the old Italian festival around Larrabee St. & Clyborn Ave. Nothing better than a vienna beef hot dog, except for maybe an Italian Roast Beef. Hey JCapporelli, why don't you join our "Chicago natives" social group here on TOV. Check it out. |
Can't beat Pementie's Italian Beef in Roseland
Rainbow Cones from shop on Western near Blue Island Ride bike down wood toboggan slide in park at 87th & Western Swank Roller Rink on Western - glide around to "I the Mood" Summer swim pools in the Park District Rec Centers (Grand Crossing, Avalon, etc); swim in winter in an apartment building indoor pool on 71st & Jeffery Crawl inside the breakwater concrete blocks at Rainbow Beach - luckily there is no tide on Lake Michigan Bowling at Stevenson's Lanes (all 2 of them) in basement of Kresge's on 79th near Rhodes theater. Walk the ledge around the Museum of Science and Industry and then to the coal mine, walk thru heart, baby chicks, U505 (I was in the crowd the day it was transported from the lake to the museum), lunch in the basement picnic area, etc, etc 2 cent day at Riverview (too young and chicken to do the Bobs - rode the Grayhound instead) Saturday 25 cartoons at the movie for 25 cents. Walk down the stairs in the 42 story Prudential bldg - tallest in town And much much more There was an alderman with my same first and last name and when I was at Circle, I had a traffic violation stop and the cop let me go because he thought I was a relative of the alderman. . |
Hey, everyone originally from Chicago, bring all this great stuff to our "Chicago Natives" social group. Also feel free to add pictures to our group site. You don't need to be living in Chicago now to join. The site is public and open to all folks that still have Chicago in the heart. I'm going to close this thread in a few days, hoping you will all join the rest of us at "Chicago Natives" Social Group. I wish my wife and I were already down at The Villages, maybe we could start a Chicago Club down there, if there isn't already one available. :024:
|
Hi---just noticed this strand. Both my wife & I are from Chicago; South, as in White Sox territory.
There's a Chicagoland club here in the Villages. The person who organized it has managed to get the group from 57 to 500 members within a year. Once a month get togethers based on a theme decided by one of the 12 Precincts. Plus Sundays at Hacienda Hills to watch Da Bears! It's F-U-N!!! I'll try your site after sending this note. |
Still looking for members
