Canadian pharmacies
Does anyone know of any reputable Canadian pharmacies and/or gotten any prescription drugs from Canada?
|
With all of the negative news, and the problems with untested drugs, I would never use these. It sounds like you are already aware of the concerns, and as I recall the local "Canadian" stores were specifically named in some of the articles. All I can say is be very careful, and research whomever you are buying from.

Canadian Pharmacy
I have been using Canadian Pharmacy in Vancouver BC for the last 11 years--service is great and we never had any problems. 888-572-0832 Ashley--your physician must fax the prescription to them @ 866-290-2272 and they will mail the medication direct to you--takes around two weeks

I don't know anything about this subject. But wouldn't your physician speak up if he didn't approve? "Great service and no problems",,,how can you beat that? |

It was specifically about Canadian Meds and how most are manufactured in third-world countries. And how many contain harmful products and bear no resemblance to the actual prescription written. There was a store in The Villages featured in the documentary. It's a scary world out there! Be very sure that you know that you're dealing with a reputable company before you put unknown drugs in your body. |
Better option is to have Sam's Club "plus" membership for $100 per year (instead of $45 for regular personal one), and get the prices they offer on the Extra Value Drug List.
Many drugs cost $4 or $10 cash price (no fooling around with insurance, deductibles, etc). See the list of prices in the lower half of this page: Sam |
Some may not be aware that some of the largest drug manufacturers are in 3 rd world locations. One of the largest drug manufacturing locations are in India. The drugs you get at the local pharmacy.
Global Drugs Direct or example source from the same suppliers off shore. Before my wife's cancer medication went generic we were getting it from Global Drug Direct....from India.....in the same box and container that we got at Walgreen's........delivered to the front door. Cost to us with insurance at Walgreen's over $800 for 89 day supply. From Global Drug Direct.......$135 for 90 day supply including shipping. You will not see anything published about the advantages of some of these pharmacies as the domestic supply chain certainly does not want to lose a sale. Then there is the issue of how legal or illegal is it. For me, using a reputable company that sources from the same manufacturer for that amount of savings there is no contest. Do I worry about if it is illegal. First of all the companies that do this are not dumb enough to put their business at risk. They may have to ship from India through Germany or Switzerland to comply......not an issue. Secondly with all the corruption in the medical and pharmaceutical industry here in the USA, I am not concerned about being a priority. Lastly in the current day use of selective enforcement, also no worry....or lmaybe I worry about as much as the folks marching in across the borders worry free. It is a personal decision. And one must do their home work because there are any number of suppliers who do not use USA approved manufacturers. There are thousands of pill mills in Mexico and Canada. By the way that same medication today, the generic from Walgreens is $45 for a 90 day supply......from the same manufacturer. The pharmacy industry kept extending and the government approving the extension of the patent for over 8 years. Legal...yes. Right no. Same way I felt about getting it through Global Drug Direct....legal ?.. ..right yes! I am not proposing others do what I did.....just sharing my experience. |
PS.....not all Rx get that magnitude of savings....do the homework.

You are quite correct about locations of drug production. Most of the production previously made in the US has been moved to numerous location abroad. Ireland, india, and even China. |
This is very helpful. I'd be curious to hear what insight a doctor might add. Maybe that's unfair. But maybe some reputable weblinks might be helpful to learn more and draw your own conclusions.

My pulmonologist suggested I use a Canadian Pharmacy so I call Canadian Meds Lady Lake 352-633-3301. The woman I spoke with was extremely informative. I'm told the manufacturer is Pfizer which is the same as Walgreens Walmart etc. I was even given prices for particular prescription drugs over the phone. I am ordering 2 particular medications.

I used The Canadian Drugstore (TCDS | Canadian Drugstore) for an expensive TEVA drug when I hit the 'donut hole' last year. All went well and I paid 40% less - but now that a new year has started and I'm out of the DH, my cost is less than I paid thru TCDS.
I was given the opportunity to buy products made in India or Turkey. I chose the latter and it shipped from a pharmacy in Turkey. It performed just as well as the TEVA product made in Israel. Cautions and considerations:
I would do it again. |
In ordering drugs from Canada I read where you should look for a company that is a member of Cipa (Certified Canadian International Pharmacy). I dealt with CanadaDrugs.com. Their website lists the origin of the drug. Mine was mfg. in Canada under a license from Pfizer. It appeared to have been shipped through Germany. There were no problems whatsoever.

Is there an independent agency that reviews [for lack of a better name] Canadian Drugstores?

To all of you who are using or plan to use these synthetic, dirty, fake drugs ordered at these store fronts.....in our area. The 60 minute report was an eye opener as to the conditions of manufacturer and the evasive answers given by the store in Belleview.
Go to this site where you may get some information not seen before. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...meds&FORM=VDRE |
I have used Canadadrugs.com. for many years. The have been professional, dependable, and eager to provide the best customer service. The prices on my meds were a fraction of U.S. prices. Some of them were manufactured in England, Canada, and yes India.
Canadadrugs.com carefully sources what they sell, so I was not worried. I did research them extensively before using them. As with any important decision, do your own thorough research, and don't get your information from the press. They are there to make money any way they can, and are not very reliable. |

How Do I Know If An Online Pharmacy Is Legitimate - Consumer Reports Also a lot of good information here: National Association of Boards of Pharmacy |
A couple of years ago we checked their prices and didn't find any "deals". The there was an expose' on t.v. and they didn't have anything good to say about them. As I remember, they'd even profiled local ones..... If you do your due diligence, you will find prices you are looking for.

This looks interesting https://blogs.bing.com/search/2015/0...ne-pharmacies/ https://www.nabp.net/news/web-search...ine-pharmacies Web Search Engine to Warn About Fake Online Pharmacies September 8, 2015 4:35 PM Topics: Counterfeit Drugs and Buying Medicine Online To help consumers avoid potentially unsafe online drug outlets, Bing will provide a new warning message on certain search results in Bing.com. “This warning will appear if a Bing user clicks on a pharmaceutical site that has been cited by the FDA as a fake online pharmacy engaged in illegal activity, such as offering dangerous, unapproved and misbranded prescription drugs to US consumers,” indicates Bing in a blog post. [and more] "Since 2008, NABP has been collecting data on websites selling medicine illegally online to US patients. NABP has reviewed over 11,000 Internet drug outlets, finding that 96.13% of the sites reviewed operate out of compliance with US pharmacy laws and practice standards, and identifying these sites as “Not Recommended.” The Association launched the .Pharmacy Top-Level Domain (TLD) Program to provide consumers around the world a means to identify safe and legal online pharmacies and related resources." I have been using a pharmacy in India for several years after doing LOTS of research on the drug manufacturers they use and the quality control.
We are able to get medications from them that cost MUCH less than the US prices. The meds we buy are the ones that are limited by our insurance or not covered at all. I will not name the meds we buy, but one costs over $100.00 here and I pay $11.00 when I purchase it from India. Another is 80 cents a tablet from India. Our insurance limits the number of tablets we can purchase per month and the price is about $4.00 a tablet here. I have been using AllDayChemist dot com for over 5 yrs. In the beginning, the wait to receive meds was 6+ weeks. I just ordered meds Jan 11th and the 1st of 2 boxes arrived yesterday. This year the shipping was free as an after Christmas special. Even when I do pay shipping it is still much cheaper than purchasing the meds here. I think they have become much popular and can use faster shipping and processing now than when I first started using them. We have 4 different meds we always buy from them and never a problem. They are a legitimate seller and they use drugs from legitimate manufacturers. I am a RN and would not purchase from them until after I vetted them. |
Canada pharmacy
I have used Canada Pharmacy Online and never had a problem. It takes a few weeks to receive so allow extra time.

Dottie did lots of research and I would encourage others to do the same. There are some reputable companies for sure, and also some companies that produce drugs that may cause harm. It pays to do due diligence and check out the online companies before using them. |
This might be my favorite TOTV discussion of all time! Thanks so much to those of you taking the time to share your experiences.

There is a place called Canadian Meds Wildwood at 1102 N Main st. that I have used. Nice mom and pop couple run it. I'm comfortable using a place where I can sit down and assess who I am dealing with. Always had good service and like someone said on this thread the drugs ordered by this company come from the same major suppliers used by many US pharmacies. Their # is 352 399 7002. Closed on Wednesday.

I've been using Northwest Pharmacy in Vancouver for the past 5 years and never had a single problem. One of the medications I take (Pradaxa) has no generic equivalent comes in the exact same factory package as that from the drug store or Optumm Rx, at about 1/3 the cost of drug store prices.
Also - they have generic equivalents for some medications that are not available in the US, much cheaper, and again, I've never had a problem. You.can email them a copy of your prescription or send it by mail if you wish. |
A couple of years ago I had used Canadian Meds in Paradise Shopping Ctr. just before you get to Oakwood Smokehouse on 27/441. A friend of mine who had used them said her Dr. said they were a safe one. The Pharamist's name was Tim. Not sure if he is still there. The number I have is 633-3301, 633-3306. You can go in and ask them all the questions you want about where the particular medication you want comes from, etc.

There are many good pharmacies in Canada that undoubtedly get their drugs from the same overseas locations as Walgreens. I can only speak about Ontario but the reason our drugs are cheaper is not because they are made in a hut somewhere... it's because our drug prices are regulated by a government that believes in universal healthcare. I am still a bit suspicious of on-line sites for me or my dogs but brick and mortar locations exit with 500+ stores province wide (Shoppers Drug Mart and Dell are the two that immediately come to mind.) You could buy from there without concern... I'm not sure about the legalities of cross border drug shopping but I wouldn't hesitate about the quality of the drugs themselves.

We've used Global Pharmacy. 855-475-7782 They will send you a brochure.
|
I use PlanetDrugsDirect.com and have not had any problems.
