I take it these are the yards to the holes. Why three alternatives?

It sounds like you are referring to yardages from three different tees on one hole, to the center of the green.

Why three though? I know womens' and mens' golf playing is different from the golf tournaments I have seen on TV even if some of the ladies can hit as far as some of the men. Stats | LPGA | Ladies Professional Golf Association

If you are a skier I can explain it in skier terms. What level is comfortable for you, beginner, novice, intermediate or expert ?

Not a skier but did work at Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program between Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada. I do remember the different trails around there for skiers.

That seems to be a good comparison. Tal, if you'll notice, the country clubs have five sets of tees. If you stand on the forward tee and look back at the back tee box, the level of expertise necessary to play from there becomes quite evident. The executive courses have three tee boxes and sometimes they are not very far apart. It's usually a matter of not having enough room for tee boxes placed way back. And the higher number of not so accomplished golfers that play them.

I have right handed and left handed clubs, balls and tees so you don't need anything to try it out.

When do you want to play? I don't have a cart so we are walking unless you have a cart.

That would take super human patience and I am not sure the players around here would refrain from making many remarks. I have not picked up a golf club since maybe 16 or so. Most of my golfing was 12 or under doing putt-putt.

Belmont Golf Course | Swing By Swing

These numbers are from the third hole approaches on Belmont. You can see the same kind of patterns of greens on various other golf courses in the Villages. They have the numbers on plaques from the greens where you tee off. But there is also a post with these numbers on them as well near the place where you tee off for the holes.

I see these are the Champion, Men's and Women's tee off spots from the Swing by Swing web-site as it shows these three numbers for Belmont Hole 3.

Those numbers on each of the tee box plates are from that particular plate to the center of the green. The three numbers on the pole at the tee box simply tell you the yardage of the hole from each tee. And I'll add, the yardage numbers on the scorecard, tee marker, and ground plates should all match. The most important thing the golfer will look at is the plate in the ground, then estimate his/her yardage based on where the tee markers are in relation to the plate and whether the pin on the green is in the front, middle, or back of the green.

Three alternatives are provided on each hole of an Executive course. But I could be wrong in my explanation.
Usually, newbies golf from the green tee markers which are closest to the flag.
Some of us never progress any farther than the greens no matter how long we've been playing. :ohdear:
The middle gold tee markers are further from the flag.
The black tee markers are furthest from the flag and are for those with a stronger swing.

I have found on the par threes in TV, that when they move the tee markers forward or backward on the tee boxes, they move the pins the same direction and the yardages stay fairly constant.

I did not notice the colors. I will have to look again on the Belmont course when the balls are not flying around. Thanks Barefoot.

Some of these holes have four areas where you can tee off as on the 4th Hole of the Belmont Golf Course???

Some have 5 teeing areas to choose from. It's amazing they look so good with golfers from sunrise to sunset. Somebody told me the teeing area has a slab of concrete underneath it. Is that true?
