Spanish Springs Sales Center - moved
I was passing through Spanish Springs today and noticed the large Sales Center was empty...with a note on the door that its function has moved to the corner of Main St and Paige Pl (the old HR building).
There was prior discussion on TOTV about the Sales Center turning into a Hotel. Perhaps this is step one in its evolution. Anybody know any real facts or timelines about the plans for this beautiful building? |
I haven't heard anything new about the old building....but they have been working very hard and fast to get the new offices done....the colors are GREAT...it is really brightening up SS.
The thought of turning the building into a hotel is a good one...however the new Marriott may not be too happy with it. It would be gorgeous though!! |
When we moved here last November,we had to go to the SS sales office to pick up some documents and get our ID cards. They told us then the sales center was moving to the HR building. Speculation was the sales center would become a hotel.

What goes around comes around
That is where the sales center was when we bought here 7 plus years ago.
If they turn the other building into a hotel it will be one more step (and a major one) toward making us a tourist destination. Not a happy thought. Let's hope it is just a rumor although I don't know what other use the building might have. |
Since there will always be homes for sale in TV's, we have to accept that some 'marketing' will always be needed. Be thankful there are such nice places for prospective home buyers to stay, as well as friends and relatives.
I seriously doubt it will ever be marketed as a 'vacation' or 'tourist' spot. Granted it is a nice golf destination but with places like Myrtle Beach around I think there are many nicer golf destinations. |
Nicer golf....maybe....but not as inexpensive in my opinion....
It does seem that TV's is turning into more of a destination tourist attraction....BUT.....it does not compare to anywhere in the country....and where else can you ride around in a golf cart....like you can here! TV's has to change with the times....and the times are changing!!! They have been smart enough to come this far....would doubt they would do something that would make this paradise anything less..... JMHO!!! |
Cassie
It certainly seems as though your entire day is spent monitoring and replying to every thread as well as starting your own on numerous issues. Just a casual observation. Some of your info is helpful but most seems slanted towards inciting heated discussions where you conveniently add your comments intended to further a contentious issue. eg. Carolyn Kennedy and the Daily Sun Do you really have another life, or is your mission here to divide us through discord, regardless of your protestations of understanding, harmony, etc.??. Just curious as you seem to have dominated the totv recently. |
We heard from our TV sales rep some months ago that the plan was for a hotel conversion.
Wonder when the monorail and water park go in? Nightly laser shows from LSL will be starting? Maybe they weren't kidding about "Disneyland for adults". |
Cassie can defend herself but I read her two posts in this thread over and over and found nothing that was even slightly 'heated'. ??
Back to the thread - I've made other observations about TV becoming a vacation destination. I don't feel that it is necessarily bad though. Using Myrtle Beach as an example I know that a lot of people own permanent homes in that area and the couple that I know love it. People will still want to own in TV despite the vacationers. |

Captain, I hear they're going to use the Buffalo Field beside Bob Evans on 466 for the Water Park. :evil6: |
Thanks BF - I guess I just don't get around enough.

When we were last over, we asked about the hotel. Our sales rep told us that the local council would not give planning permission for this. Hope they do not have a change of mind!

I 'heard' the plumbing in place would not be sufficient for a hotel. Maybe Joe will get the job!:evil6:

Way to go Chuckster,I agree with you 100 percent, there are a few others in the same category
|
What is the local council? That's a new one.

This is what I remember. They originally built the sales office to convert into a hotel but when Marriott did their examination they decided that the plumbing was not sufficient to support all of the new needs of a hotel. That is when they built the Courtyard hotel next door to the theater. I had then heard that they were going to turn the sales office into offices. Now the rumor is a hotel again. |
When we first came to TV, our sales rep told us that the Sales Center would eventually be turned into a hotel. Several months ago the word I got from an employee of TV was that Zirbe's old space was being turned into the newest version of the Sales Center. According to them - that is where it was years ago any way. When I asked about the hotel rumor they said that TV couldn't go that route as the building currently exists because of the lack of a sprinkler system and that it would be used for offices for TV instead.

Passing time
I am home on call for the birthing center. I enjoy passing time reading the talk of the villages. Please keep everyones thoughts and concerns coming.
Sometimes my words dont express the correct emotion. |
I'm having trouble
understanding this "vacation destination" thing being mentioned here.
What are people going to do on vacation in TV? I thought the owners paid for the amenities and now the "family" have the right to let short time guests use the amenities forever? Isn't the idea that eventually the amenities would be controlled buy the owners? Are the property owners going to get a reduction on the amenity fees if TV is a resort that all can come to? I thought TV was a community not a Disney theme park for adults?:shocked: |
I'm sure the restaurants and businesses would love to have an influx of tourists and not havng to rely on regulars and the high season to survive. Personally, I don't mind tourists, visitors, locals or guests -- I think they're part of what makes TV special. Most of our residents and guests are kind and considerate people. Those that aren't are few and far between and, if they're just visiting, at least we know they will be leaving shortly. Besides, I'm willing to bet many that might come as touristas will end up drinking the water and start looking to buy. Has happened more than once.

GNU - I think the idea of 'vacationers' is a little too narrow. Let's think about what happens now:
Someone can rent a nice house, with/without a nice view, with a garage for the car, a kitchen for an occasional home cooked meal, a lanai to relax on etc. This can be had for the whole month of April for example for less than $100 per night (sometimes as low as $50). Most rentals come with the transfer of the owners ID card for $50 extra. With this card both renters can use the executive golf courses only paying the daily trail fee, play the championship courses for the resident price, they can use any of the neighborhood pools, they can use the pickleball, tennis facilities at the rec centers etc. They can use TV as a base of operations to do day trips to Disney, the Space Center, Daytona, Tampa etc. It's not just TV management that is turning TV into a vacation spot it is all the snowbirds who rent their homes while they are not there. Do the math, it's affordable. I'm not talking about young families vacationing but for the older adult couple who want a long term vacation, it's a bargain. But as Red mentioned, at least it keeps the population count up in the 'off' season for all the businesses. |
There is a little sales center that is across the street from the Colony center in a strip mall. Probably will transform and MOVE into the new Brownwood when the area south of 466 and north of 466A is filled in.
There is no new development happening at this time north of 466. Correct me if I'm wrong. |
I think we all have to remember that the Town Squares are open to the public and are not supported by our amenities fees. We don't "own" the Squares. They need lots of outside business to remain profitable.
I think it is sad to see empty buildings, like Dominics & Whiskey Creek. |

I agree with everything you've said, Russ, and the rent for all the fun to be had is very reasonable but that being said I believe it's a good thing that the snowbirds are able to rent to vacationers. Mr. Peachie and I are not in TV's fulltime at this point and we do not rent out our villa in our absence. There are some neighbors across the street and down a bit that definitely have rental units. We have seen perhaps 5 or 6 different couples move into these units for a month or more and it is a good thing, IMHO. On the whole , the renters are excited to be here, are very respectful of TV's, (there are always a few gnats in the forest), and most importantly, have money to spend which is the elixir that attracts more restaurants, businesses and keeps the bloom on TV rose. These rentals also allow many snowbirds to purchase here which gives TV's it's sense of vitality. Driving by row after row of dark homes is an invitation for trouble if most of the homes in many neighborhoods stand empty. There is a wonderful feeling now when we are in TV's, I don't know what the magic is but we sure hope is keeps going on. :a040: |

Now, that is a wonderful way to put it. Great post! |
I've heard that the sales center is being turned into offices on the second floor and shops/boutiques on the bottom.

Sales Center Conversion
No. Not offices. Not a hotel. Not shops either.
There are two things missing in The Villages. La Riena Center will be the new prison. Now we just have to find vacant land to put the other missing link, the cemetery. Skip |
Ok so it the sales office is in their new building....is the Human Resource office still upstairs?
thanks...... |
