Best Football Movies.

Do you have a favorite football movie? I kind of liked Draft Day because 224 kept on coming up. That is the number of players each year in the NFL Draft. NFL Draft 2016 - ESPN |

North Dallas Forty

North Dallas Forty was good, I read the book before seeing the movie. At that time the film reminded me of my time while in the Army, in fact the whole 70's now seems like a fog to me. The Replacements was filmed at the home of my favorite team, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore where the Ravens play. I remember there was a casting call for extras and anyone showing up could sit in the stands, I didn't go. I wanted to like that film, but it seemed pretty lame to me. Even with one of my favorite actors Gene Hackman couldn't save that film. Brian's Song was a real tearjerker, I've seen it a few times. It had the feeling of a made for TV movie, which I believe it was. Draft Day I saw in the theater at Lake Sumter when it was released. It was good for the most part, they tried their best to capture the spirit and energy of the NFL Draft.
In my mind, there are only two really excellent sports films, I don't even like basketball but found Hoosiers to be the best all time sports movie. Since it doesn't fit the category of football films, I'm not a Fighting Irish fan, but I loved the film Rudy, my choice for best football movie and second best sports film. http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...VmN3ThPgRNyATf |

In my first post I started to put in Remember the Titans but then I remembered Brian's Song.

Any Given Sunday had to be the worst. I walked out half way through. All the camera shaking and phony pounding sounds drove me crazy.
And Cameron Dias as the team owner was terrible casting. I'm surprised that Al Pacino was involved in a mess like that. |
