need to find a good hairdresser/salon

I am having the hardest time finding a hairdresser who listens to what the customer wants not what they think is best. I have been to 4 different salons and they all did not do what I wanted but what they thought I needed. For instance, I wanted a haircut, showed her a picture and got nothing like that picture. I want a certain color but they all think (even up north I had problems) I need to have a darker color than I want.

Anyway, enough rant. Does anyone know of a hairdresser who listens to what their customer wants? I'm really tired of coloring my own hair.

I've been to several here also and my hair looks worse with every different person who comes 'highly recommended'! Same thing, my hair looks nothing like the picture I show them and my color fades within a week.. I thought it was longer but looked at my calendar today & realized it was a week only! Sorry I don't have a recommendation but I have sympathy! Good luck!

I am happy with Erica at the Urban Hair Studio right off of 466 and 301. Samantha is another popular stylist there. $$$$

Tuscany Salon and Day Spa in Lake Sumter Landing.

I had a ridiculously hard time also when we first moved to TV. Someone mentioned on TOTV that they loved Josephine at Urban Hair in Oxford. I live in Buttonwood but make the drive as I have had my hair ruined at least 5 times previously. She is the best I have found.

Larissa is my go to gal for a few years now - tell her what you want and she does it! Perfect 10 Salon in Fruitland Park (across from Neerly New). She is reasonable, too. 352-217-6819.

I feel your pain. I'm trying Urban Hair tomorrow, but they put me with someone whose name I haven't seen recommended on here. I will say that when I called to make the appt, I was asked a lot of questions about my hair and I've never had anyone take the time to do that when I was making an appt.

If your man wants a licensed barber who can also do hot shaves, my husband recommends Steve at Steve's Barber Shop on Huey Street in Wildwood. Good haircuts, reasonably priced. You can Google the name and make an appointment online.

As for hair salons for women, good luck.

If you color your hair and you are happy with your northern hairdresser, before you move to TV, see if you can get your color formula, including the brand of color, and the processing time. -- Your hairdresser might not be allowed to give it to you because of local competition. But you should be able to get it under certain circumstances, like if you are moving or going to be gone for an extended time and if you are a long-established client. (and a good tipper)

Knowing the brand of the salon color you have been happy with is really important. For instance, the only color that my highly resistant hair will grab is Wella. Not all salons use Wella.

My up-north formula is in my purse, right behind my insurance cards.

Boomer.....who really wishes she could just go gently into that gray hair. It would be so much easier.

Just wanted to come back and say I loved the cut and color I got at Urban Hair Studio. I went to Myra and she was fantastic. She took a LOT of time to find out what I wanted.
Cut, highlights and lowlights is $105 but they have a new customer $10 special right now.

How much does Lindsey charge for a haircut and blow dry?

Great suggestions. Since I just did my own hair this past weekend, I will be sure to check a couple of these out next month. Thanks

Myra at Urban Hair Studio (352-748-0040) is terrific.

I have never recommended a hairstylist here in TV, but after having been to Myra three times this winter, I know that she is exactly what I have been looking for.

Myra is an experienced stylist who understands the chemistry of color and she does a great haircut, too. She knows how to listen and communicate.

Once I knew that Myra knows what she is doing, I asked for suggestions and I really like what she suggested and then did for my highlights and base color.

Urban Hair is a Wella salon. Wella is the only product that will work on my resistant hair.

I am so glad to have found Myra at Urban Hair Studio.

You Get what you pay for. I gave up with the places around here. I have been going to Orlando and sm very happy with Lizzy at Educe Salon. She listens.

Sable99 04-16-2016 03:50 PM

Keeping for future reference! Keep them coming!

terimquick 05-23-2016 02:50 PM

Another vote for Erica at Urban Hair Studio. She listens and gives a great cut. She's also the first person I've found who gets my color right, so finally--a hair dresser who does it all! It took me over a year of trying different people and places before I found Erica. I don't like the location, but I'm gladly driving out there for Erica!

pbkmaine 05-23-2016 04:46 PM

Rose at Bella's did a great job on my curly hair.

SandyFielder 05-27-2016 09:27 AM

I totally understand what you are going through. When I moved to the villages, I tried 4 hairdressers until I found one that was perfect. I met someone who had a fabulous hair cut and great color, and she referred me to her hairdresser. I have been going there for over a year now, and never once have I had a issue. My hair is beautiful, and healthy. Her name is Erica Miller 352-457-5892. she is in a building near the corner of 466 and 301. Her address is 4036 County Road 106, and is listed as in Oxford. If you call her, tell her Sandy Fielder referred you. You won't be disappointed.

deestatham 06-28-2016 08:25 PM

Sandy - I read your post about your hair dresser, Erica Miller. I just moved here and can't find a good hair dresser. I wear a short, spikey hairdo. Does she cut something like that? How old is she? Thanks so much!

I have never had a haircut like Dana gives at K-Rae's Salon (next to Comcast, across the hwy from Wal-Mart on 441). I haven't had my hair colored by her, so I can't answer that question, but I have had it frosted and she did a great job.

I went through a lot of hair dressers when I moved to TV and after going to Dana I stopped looking. She knows how to cut hair - women and men.

rosygail 07-27-2016 11:08 AM

ANother vote for Erica Miller at Urban. I brough her my color and perm info from my former hairdresser up North and she was able to duplicate my style/color perfectly. It took a couple of times to get to just right. So you should give anyone more than 1 shot at it. I get color, cut and perm...all in one visit!
