Problem at McCallisters
I have a friend who recounted this story to me the other day. He and his wife ordered a baked potato to take home. When they got home they found that under the baked potato was a half eaten potato and a partially opened butter container. They went back with this to show to McCallisters and they received a voucher for a future meal. They then were contacted by the wife of the manager who accused them of trying to rip them off. She told them that they would not honor the voucher and were not welcomed there anymore. I have to believe my friend as he has no reason to lie about this and is not that kind of person. If so I wonder about this women's business acumen. It doesn't make much sense to me why someone would accuse a customer who returned an item that they purchased that they were trying to rip them off.

Something does not "smell" right with this story! Hard to believe any business would do something like.

Sounds like the Manager's wife had better let her husband manage the store. "Freak" story.

Okay, another complaint told by a second party....
|
Seems weird. How could some one put one single baked potato in a bag and not notice that the bag has a 1/2 baked potato and butter in it ?
This just doesn't sound possible. |
We eat at McAlisters once a week. They are exceptional at resolving problems! Their food is terrific and their people are friendly! This story sounds fishy to me.....

I have known this guy for 10 years and he is not the type of person that would make up a story like this. I was just relaying what I was told.

Too much of this story just doesn't seem to fly right. And, I certainly agree that forums like this make it just too easy for anyone to tell a story (even when it is not their story) with the purpose of shooting an arrow at a business.

No restaurant anywhere would wrap up a half eaten baked potato in a to go bag to pass off as food. Your friend is feeding you baloney over a baked potato. |
This doesn't sound right. 1) I have met the wife (I believe they are co-owners) and she has always been very pleasant. 2) I had a minor issue with a sandwich, they left the swiss cheese off a Ruben, and the owner replaced the sandwich and comped the meal. I didn't ask for anything I just commented when he asked how my sandwich was.

I have never eaten at McCallisters & I never intend to- After looking @ their menus and its contents-- all I can say is Happy Heart Attack to you who will eat there- look at the sodium content of their sandwiches-

Somebody should contact this restaurant to get their side of the story. https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn2/McAlis...+Menu-8-15.pdf

McAlisters, not McCallisters. We average eating there about once a week and never have had a problem; always quick, always fresh, always good. Also, who doesn't look at their takeout before heading home with it? Whether it's drive-thru or going inside to get it, we never leave without making sure of what we ordered is correct.

As I said, this story just doesn't make sense. There is just no way this could have happened as told. Sorry, but that is my opinion & I have never eaten there so I have no loyalty one way or the other.

I love it there and I will go again. Until I experience something I don't like.

If there was half eaten potato, sounds like wrong bag with leftovers was given.

I would have no problem eating there. |

Their New Yorker (corned beef and pastrami is great) When it's my time, I'm hoping for a 100% left main lesion---gone in 60 seconds, no fuss. In the meantime, to quote Travolta from "Pulp Fiction"---"pork chops taste good, bacon tastes good" (If that comment doesn't yank VPL out of "retirement", nothing will:1rotfl:) |

We love this place to eat and the people who work there have always been very friendly. We always comment on how well its's run. People make mistakes, have you never been forgiven Mr. First Poster?

Unless you get it first hand I would not count on us getting at the facts. Even then it is often messy. |
Second hand stories concerning one baked potato to go are not post worthy. Now talking about Pulp Fiction, that should be a sticky thread.
"It's a chopper, baby." Although I am boycotting all Quentin films. Got to support the po-po! |

On the original topic, I will have to try this Deli myself some time. McAlister's Deli I really dislike the idea of blacklists and boycotts. They seem very Un American. |
