2/25/2016 Republican Debate
I record the debates than view at my leisure. It also provides me the option of fast forwarding when needed.
And last night, more than once I did fast forward. Each time the Rubio, Trump, Cruz shouting and interuption bouts began. In my opinion all three candidates came across as very unprofessional and certainly not presidential. They remineded me of mid school kids in an argument and the best tool at their disposal was...VOLUME! Trump came across last night as not very well prepared. Or he is showing the effect of melting down a little when under constant pummeling. His cliches of believe me I know....or I have done that ......or I hired thousands....came off cheap as non factual anecdotes that at this stage of the campaign are wearing thin. My expectation is that if nominated and then elected he is a smart enough manager to hire good people to do the work of the POTUS. Unlike Obama who has nothing but academics and intellectualizers. And we should all keep in mind even the strongest outsider, which would be Trump, will find out soon enough that saying is one thing and doing perhaps a bit more difficult.......unless or until he does crack the current crony system. Early on he would have an advantage as he does not know....does not need to know...how the crony system of governing works/or not. Therefore he will ask why and why not. And if he maintains his current aggressive persona as POTUS will in fact get more done than the typical crony, politics as usual puppets like Clinton and Rubio. We shall see. I think it is time for the republicans to stop attacking each other and start demonstrating more information about how they will implement some of the promises being made. I think Carson needs to pack it up. Rubio will lose FL. Kasisich will lose Ohio. Cruz may lose TX. After which each will have to reassess their position and ability to win against Trump. |
very good analysis. Trump/Carson is my dream ticket.
|
Since it is rare that a nominee chooses his competition as his VP, it is useless to speculate about a team. If I was to dream of a team, I would suggest Rubio/Kasich.
Rubio has always been professional and knowledgeable in the debates. This boxing exhibition is due in large because of the audience wish for blood. It is NOT most professional candidates that wish to fight. They usually wish to debate, but since Trump insists of taking it to the gutter with his verbiage, the others have had to dive into the gutter to accost him at his level. And ONLY because the voters want it. Voters are more interested in entertainment than who is the best for our country. Trump has absolutely no clue to running the country. He can't just throw money around to get his influence. He can't bankrupt and start over again like he is used to doing. This is NOT a business like he is used to. Everyone likes him because he is outspoken. Glen Beck was popular for a while too. It's a fad, that ultimately peters out. Trump will turn into an embarrassment due to his ego and boorish attitude. He believes that everyone loves him when in reality they fear him. Rubio showed how intelligent he is. He is a gentleman and it was not in his nature to enter the gutter to fight, but he finally did when he realized that Trump will ruin our country near as much as Obama has. It's a shame that Romney hasn't entered the fray, because this country is ready for him now. He has the best of both worlds, business and politics. Too bad. Rubio solidified my vote last night. I was starting to worry, but he showed how he can bob and weave, as well as punch and jab when necessary. There may be too many uninformed voters in Florida, that will vote for the entertainer. Rubio may lose Florida, but not because of my vote. Many folks are angry after Obama, but they need to think about how it has come to this. It's because voters like them on the other side, elected an entertainer rather than a decent politician. Trump believes that we won't need to go to war again if we have a big wall keeping us safe. Good luck with that idea. I'll go for the wall to keep illegals away but the rest of the world still needs an American leader, not an isolationist. |

1. It has been fact checked and shown that it is true that Trump hires illegal immigrants, so he lied about that 2. IRS verified this morning that there is no problem with issuing tax returns while being audited, so he lied about that Add that to that embarrasing alternative he "offered" to Obamacare last night, the fact that he WILL NOT EVERY STAND A CHANCE of winning a general election (new hispanic voters, 80% would never vote for him and Repubs need at least 40% of hispanic vote to come close) why would anyone vote for this man. |

They were sucked into thinking that a black man, more like the everyday person. Totally and completely wrong. Transparency, more open and honest insight to what is going on. Xero. The most divisive, non transparent, more secretive than any more recent presidents. Seven plus years of non delivering accompanied by deterioration of race relations; deterioration of military capability; deterioration of how we stand on the world stage; cowardly coddling of the enemy...islamic terrorism; just another all for him and to hell with America. These are some of the reasons, like Trump or not; real or not; he does resonate with the mood of the American people who are sick and tired of politics and ESPECIALLY Obama politics. |

It is obvious from watching the news and the reporting by a couple of different networks they are revelling in the circus atmosphere of last nights amateur pi$$ing contest.
And of course while they are making the most of the so called future leadership of the USA circus maximus it affords them the luxury of not putting the heat on current events in the democratic race. And the latest Clinton controversy of WSJ tapes release. I must say that Trump's disposition to make fun of, demean almost everybody and eveyone that disagrees with him, along with continual calling them names is too, too much like what we see and hear from democrats. And on this forum. I was willing to give Trump opportunity to at some point rise above the petty pranks and play acting and show a more serious side of his talents. To show that along with his bold and brash side there is a serious, presidential worthiness in his character. I have not seen this from him to date. If this is all we get from him he would not be my choice for nomination. If he wins the nomination of course I will vote for him and hope for the best. On Trumps worst day or days he is head and shoulders above Obama and most members of the current congress. |
I'm going with trump. Sick of all politicians Hillary should be in prison, Bernie socialist , rubio establishment , carson too quiet.
Also I love the fact the wall got higher and yes Mexico can pay for it. |

Simply look at the voting pool and it is simple math. Trump in the race assures a major turn out of more blacks than voted in 2008 and then add the new hispanic voters and Clinton does not even need to do anything but insure turnout. I understand frustration....great talk.....but Trump will leave the Republican party and the entire conservative movement in total shambles and then off he goes to his tower to look down and laugh at you. His comedy routine is just that....a routine. Be very careful of what you wish for. |

So the blacks ace it for Clinton?
Sorry can't buy that. Remember blacks are ONLY 19% of the total population. And if they follow the same pattern as the general electorate a little less than half will vote. And since many have not been rescued as promised by Obama, the dems will lose some to that. And many blacks are not buying the same BS Obama was spewing. And many blacks do not like her or want to vote for a criminal awaiting prosecution. So? NO, she does not have a lock on blacks. The party would like to think the blacks and everybody else are buying the party BS. I also think the non black voters will be out in force to make sure she, the felonious, blood on her hands liar does not get elected. |

That's also my dream ticket - and I'm a Democrat Running against that ticket, Mrs Clinton will win 400+ electoral votes. She will win an electoral landslide larger than Obama's landslide victories over Etchy and McCain |

Sure, there will be no push back from the black community, esepecially when they hear Trumps comments from the past. And of course they will just stay home and not vote or maybe the Clinton and Democratic machine will not remind them of all of this and more |
Heck, in the Democratic primary they are throwing around who is more black and who is more white.
Turnout for blacks will be massive if Trump is nominated |
The entire presidential primary for both parties is clearly a reflection of how unsophisticated the American public is. Unsophisticated and educated are not exclusive of each other as is clearly displayed in this forum. I still ask is this really the best America has to offer?

You say Obama didn't work with Republicans. Read this. Obama's First Term | Republicans for Obama You tell me how any open minded Republican isn't embarrassed by the shouting match that went in at the debate, and continued the next day. The three main candidates acted like 10 year old at a playground during recess. Someone said that Obama's programs aren't going to continue with the next president. If Trump continuing with this act, Hillary will beat him, and Obama's programs will go into high gear. The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. The Republican politics of opposing everything Obama put forward is why we are where we are today. |

I do not get involved with conspiracy theories, but saying Trump is a Democratic operative to hand the election over to them makes sense. Right now, worry about this crude, cheating, lying man from taking over the party. I am embarrassed and so should you be. I am more anti left wing than you, but I assure you, the threat WITHIN the party is the worst thing ever. You should worry on that front. |
There is no reason for all this mean spirited posting.
By this time, the Republicans have all come to the same conclusion as the Democrats: HILLARY (and the USA) wins! Just settle back in your great Villages setting, play some golf, smile, relax with some entertainment at the squares, have a Yeungling or two, and know you will be happy with Hillary at the helm. |

If you think that with Hillary in the White House, that it won't effect you, then you are not very smart or informed. The ramifications will echo all the way into our lifestyle. Goodbye middle class, if she is elected. But the Democrat party was too lazy and stupid to support a decent candidate. They had to pick a criminal and a commie. |

While you feel enjoyment in the fiasco we call public service, I find it disgusting. And recall.....if Clinton vs Trump. The "ladies" of Clinton have their own super pac, their own website and are waiting to attack until general election. Think Trump might help them out just a bit ? Throw in the Clinton machine going after the clown and you have quite a general election. I have a sneaky feeling, they are both so dirty, we may have a complete unknown at the helm for some reason and I cannot back that up. I know both are dirty...and both will fight dirty...which sickens me to the nth degree, Where have our morals gone when two people that are so dispicable can run for President, and where have we gone when people can come on here and defend either on of them. We are talking about two people with NO character of any kind. |

I like NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me"'s solution: Obama appoint Trump to fill Justice Scalia's seat; Repubs will be happy 'cause they can concentrate on having a real Repub run.
