Key Lime Pie

The on line news had an article about a man that sells key lime pie on micro racetrack road, twice a month. Other than driving over there everyday, does anyone know of a definitive schedule or any suggestions.

Thanks

I thought I had his card, but couldn't find it. But his pies are the best. I remember the first time hubby brought one home and I asked where he got it and he told me he bought it from a man in a pickup (earlier days) on the side of the road. Since then we have bought one every time we see the balloons out on roadside. He told us he also sells somewhere in Leesburg twice a month.

Thank you for answering. Still hoping someone can add to the discussion.

It was in the Sun yesterday that Micro-racetrack Rd would be closed this coming week while work is being finished at the new red light intersection with 466A.

I've bought two Key Lime pies in the past month at Walmart on 466. I had been buying Lemon Meringue pies from Walmart but earlier in Feb they didn't have any made but had the Key Lime instead. We bought one and it was great, bought another last week, so I guess it will be a regular for awhile. They are usually on display on a rack between the bananas and the deli counter.

I've also had the Key Lime Cake by Pepperidge Farm and it is really great. They are sometimes hard to fine, but Winn Dixie and Walmart sometimes will have them.

I found his card with this information: TASTE BUDS, THE KEY LIME PIE KING, 352 504 9918.... I agree the pie is great.

Tell me that Key Lime Cake is calorie free and not habit forming.

geeze-oh-man, I forgot about Pep Farm frozen cakes. We used to have the yellow cake with chocolate frosting, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.:mmmm:

Actually one of the best key lime pies are the ones found in the frozen section - Edwards Key Lime pie and at Wal-Mart it can be had for about $5. Great key lime flavor on a Graham cracker pie crust. Try it you'll like it

I stopped and tasted it one time.

We stopped and tasted his Key Lime Pie on Micro Race Track a couple of years ago (he seems to be there more often than he used to be) and it was good, but, not as as good as Publix. The best is at Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach!!

The absolute best is a recipe from Bon Appetit magazine. Takes a bit of work, but what wonderful dish doesn't. BA's Best Key Lime Pie Recipe - Bon App

:agree: My wife and I ate at Joe's Crab Shack in Daytona Beach. We each had the Key Lime Pie. It was fantastic and too big to finish so we took it home and enjoyed it the next day.

Sorry, I found that funny....Joe's Stone Crab on Miami Beach and Joe's Crab Shack chain are two very different animals. At Joe's Stone Crab (opened in 1913), you will see waiters wearing Rolex's (for 6 months work) and a $200 (or more) tab for you and your wife.

Joe's Stone Crab in Miami was mentioned in Ian Fleming's book "Goldfinger".

F.Y.I. ...1/8 of a slice of Edwards Key Lime Pie contains 80% of one's Daily Value of Saturated Fat. Quoted from box of Edwards key Lime Pie.

American Heart Association: "Eating foods that contain saturated fats raises the level of cholesterol in your blood. High levels of LDL cholesterol in your blood increase your risk of heart disease and stroke."

You have now taken all possible joy out of a slice of key lime pie. Food police.

We are in the Keys now and a friend who lives here gave us some 'key' limes. They are very small and tart too....

Mommy, is that you? Where did you leave your recipe for Apple Bacon Dumplings with caramel sauce? We can't find it!

Quick, where is VPL when we need him?

It actually says one slice of pie, and there are eight slices to a pie. If you can't make your own Key Lime pie, Edwards is nearly as good.

A Key Lime pie is the easiest thing in the world to make, and according to Walmart's website they sell fresh Key Limes at the local Walmart. I've tried the bottled Key Lime juice sold at Publix and it isn't very good.

Key Limes are green when they are immature, and turn yellow when ripe. A greenish-yellow lime will work, but yellow is better and will have more juice. Key Limes are quite small, so you want juicy ones. You'll need five or six.

Hey, what more could he want! It's vegetarian, there's fruit, protein from the eggs, fiber from the crackers, and, um, er... well, we won't mention the ɹɐƃns.
