Breakfast ideas for visiter
Will be visiting Villages on the 13th for the 4th time and staying one nite at the Holiday Inn Express. They offer a free breakfast but would rather go to a restaurant for a better selection. Been to Two Jays several times only because thats the only place I know of. Can anyone suggest other places in The Villages for a good breakfast?
Will be moving there in two years or less for sure from south Fla. It will be the longest 2 years of my life as we can't wait to retire, move there and enjoy all the activities, especially riding my motorcycle. |
Katie Bells has a nice buffet.
|
RJ Gators at Lake Sumter Landing is now serving breakfast. Haven't been there myself so I can't vouch for their breakfast foods but they do have the "patio seating" so you can sit outside if it is not too cool.
|
The Veranda at the Sales Center at LSL has a delicious quiche.
|
We have always enjoyed the breakfasts at the Veranda. It would be my choice.
|
Perkins on 441 is pleasant
The country clubs usually have buffets Panera Bread for a sit around and watch the crowd while having a bagel; ditto for Starbucks. Can't loose with Too Jays, again. Cracker Barrel Billy's Coffee shop across 441 from Cracker Barrel Ikea furniture store at Millenia Mall in Orlando - nice Swedish breakfast's Lotsa choices, depends on your mood. . |
We love Billys, just north of Holiday Inn express on 27. Best fresh waffles (banana walnut mmmmm) and great fresh home fried potatoes. The bacon is the thinest I have ever seen though. No credit cards accepted. Cash only. Worth the wait if busy! I also like Cracker Barrel across the street from Billys! Eggs in a basket are my favorite, sour dough bread and cheesy hash browns! Great thick bacon. yum. Perkins has the best eggs benedict. These are just my personal likes. Have a great visit!!
|
Little Bits and Son Rise Cafe are also good choices.
|
Another vote of Katie Belle's buffet. They serve until 11:00 am. Drinks are extra but the guys who make the omelettes do a super job and the banana pudding is really good.
Billy's is good but you better be seriously hungry -- their servings are HUGE! |
I believe Golden Corral has a huge buffet breakfast on the weekends..
Better check first! |
I'd suggest The Waterfront Inn or outside on The Verandah at LSL if you want a little ambience.
Bob Evans, Golden Corral, Sonrise, etc. have OK breakfasts but zero atmosphere. |
Thanks for all the replies, now we have too many choices. I guess we will have to eventually try them all.
|
Billy's is excellent and the breakfast buffet at Katie Belles's is also fabulous.
|
Ah a catagory that I know alot about so my wife says!
1. Katie Belles buffet and you don't have to show your Villages ID. $5.99 during the week dollar more on the week-ends. :eclipsee_gold_cup: 2. Country Cottage located South of 466 on 27/441 West side of the road. ;) 3. Lil Bites located East of the new Beall's in Buffalo Ridge Facing the East.:icon_hungry: 4. Son Rise located in front of Publix at Southern Trace facing West. 5. RJ Gators at LSL. 6. Perkins 2 locations 466 in front of new Walmart and 441/27 South of golf cart bridge. The above are in my order of preference. The new IHOP is open at Southern Trace (haven't been there yet) |
Indy Guy, since you are an out-to-breakfast aficionado, have you run into The Village Idiots, who reportedly eat in their pajamas??
|
Katie Belles
Don't you need a resident I.D. to get into katie Belle's? The OP said they were staying at Holiday Inn so I assume they wont have one.

We had breakfast there yesterday. It took an hour to arrive after we finally were able to order. This was at 1:30 PM. The waitress said the kitchen was "backed up". When it finally arrived, the food was slimy, tasteless and undercooked. The "toast" wasn't even toasted. The service was dreadful. We asked for napkins twice and never got them. We asked for more water three times and never got it. I don't like complaining to management and never do it. If I don't like a place, I just never go there again. And I'll never go back to Perkins. I'm sure they were probably just having a bad day. But there are so many great places to eat in TV! |
Don't know if the quiche at Veranda is homemade but YUM! Nice and relaxing outside as well.

So many choices. Actually I eliminate buffets cause I like to order off the menu. I really don't like to go to chains while up there that I go often to down here in S fla. such as Perkins, Dennys, Crackerbarrel, etc.
I thank everyone for their suggestions, and am looking forward to our visit and a good breakfast, my favorite meal. What we plan to do is arrive Sat the 13th, check in to the motel, have a good dinner then go dancing at Spanish Springs, then go over to Lake Sumter for some more dancing and ice cream at Haagen Daz. The next morning go to breakfast, and drive home to get back in time to watch some football. Once I move there, I'll wonder how I ever had time to go to work. |
Billy's Cafe and Katie Belle's tie in my opinion. Depends on if you like a buffet (Katie Belle's) or not (Billy's). Both offer bountiful quantities of quality food at reasonable prices.
|
Indy-Guy,
The only one you may have overlooked is Orange Blossom CC. They have a great buffet breakfast on Sunday and even better, they take reservations. George |
Regarding Billy's Cafe - they have a good breakfast and are comparable to many truck stops and small town cafes. Which is fine with me, just didn't want Newbies to think it was something it wasn't.

RJ Gator's serves a pretty good breakfast in LSL. Not many know about it yet so there is no waiting. 4 of us ate there the other day with no complaints. Even serve a good Bloody Mary.
Hacienda Hills CC also now serves breakfast but haven't been there yet. |
Katie Belle's for breakfast was the best that I have had in the week that I have been here. I stopped there today on the recommendations of the good folks here on TOTV and they did not let me down. The omelet was great and made just the way I like then. Then a side trip to the buffet tables to see what they had to offer and I decided on a slice of French toast with just a touch of strawberry topping. Next was a trip to the fresh fruit to complete the meal. I think I could have sat there all day and just drank the coffee. When I looked at the bill it was $7.70 (less tip) for a very enjoyable breakfast. I was full and will not need lunch and the quality was far superior to that of Perkins and Bob Evans. And it cost less. Thanks TOTV.

I have a motorcycle and ride with The Village Nomads. We ride to breakfast every Wed and Sat mornings at 8:30. Leave from Mulberry rec ctr parking lot. Some ride their cars. Join us.
|
That reminds me of when I was living in Logan Square outside the Chicago Loop going to U of I. A bunch of local leather jackets hung around a bar near where I lived and called themselves a motorcycle gang - not a bike larger than a Schwinn in the whole group! LOL

TooJays in Spanish Springs (not LSL) - without a doubt
|
Harleyrider2,
I'd love to join you all on a ride if I'm up there on my bike at that time. Actually I've been following the Nomads web site for several months now. The Nomads seems very similar to the South Fla Riders Club which I'm a member. We welcome all type of bikes and are very active. I ride on average 15,000 miles a year with them. I really like the long rides and overnighters. Also belong to the Honda Riders Club of America and the Iron Butt Association. The Village Nomads, along with the Wingers were a big reason I decieded to more to the villages rather than someplace else. I like having many friends to ride with. I've got less than 2 years to go to retire and am counting the days. Take care and ride safe. Les |
JohnN,
Why is breakfast at TooJay's in SS better than in LSL? We love the breakfast at LSL, but if SS is better we will drive on up the road a bit! Karen |
Karen, pick me up on the way!!!
|
For a special breakfast I would suggest breakfast at Amelia's at the Waterfront Inn. I love the atmosphere of the hotel, and if it is warm enough outside you can enjoy watching the lake while dining on the Veranda; or you can get a table inside with a view of the lake. It is one of my favorite places in The Ville. You can also linger over coffee in the lobby. A great place to treat yourself and to enjoy the art of exceptional living that The Ville offers!
