frustrated homeowner
Why does it seem to be acceptable for people to bring their dogs to other peoples property to do their business. And what can be done to stop it?
I have spoken to one party several times and have been call an a-hole for bringing it up. Once a dog visits your property every other dog in the neighborhood needs to mark his territory in the same spot. P.S. his property is flawless |
I returned the favor.
|
I don't understand it ... he brings the dog to my property to crap and urine and I'm the a-hole.

Take note of the watering zone on your irrigation system.
When you see them out there quickly go to manual watering station # ?. |
Actually there is something you can do legally and per the Villages Community Development Districts....per their instructions it is illegal for them to allow their dogs on your lawn as it is your property. There are fines that will be imposed, but they suggest you first ask them politely not to allow there dogs on your lawn. If possible take a photo of them with their dog(all legal). If it happens again then just call the VCDD and let them know what happened and what you have done to correct the problem. The VCDD will contact this person and issue a warning. If that doesn't work then they will pay a fine.
We've had the issue and asked those who do not respect others property. We've had people rant and rave about the villages being dog friendly and that means their dogs can do their business where they want(wrong). We've had them tell us that part of our lawn is a legal right of way and they can let their dog use it as their bathroom(wrong). The right of way part of every lawn is for the utilities to gain access to pipes, cables and such for repairs. You pay the taxes right up to the curbing and are required to keep it looking neat. Having lived from Hawaii, to California, Maine, Virginia, N. Carolina, Florida and Japan this is the only place where the "Entitled" feel that what's yours is theirs and what's theirs is theirs. Gracie girl...love your posts...usually...you're completely wrong on this issue...you own a dog??? |

I predict 75 posts to our newest dog poop thread! |
You know how the online paper (which shall not be named-so funny!) posts pics of poor parkers? Without benefit of my 2 cups of coffee this morning, I think it would be funny if it started posting pics of "bad doggies"- NOT their owners, which may get too personal. Bogey Shooter, I hope you're wrong!

I haven't had a dog ( have a cat ) but do love them. In reading this, the thought occurred to me, " just where are people to walk their dogs to relieve themselves?". When Fifi is dancing at the door, you surely won't make it to Doggie Do Run and people complain if she goes at the mail boxes. Surely poop and scoop in the neighborhood is tolerated by most as long as it's not always and only on your yard and not theirs. What am I missing?

When Fifi needs to go -- How about your yard. It is not just poop and scoop, the urine is very damaging and cannot be picked up I think it is disrespectful and inconsiderate to let your pets defecate on other owners property while your property remains untouched

My nephew Crosby is a dog. He is a Golden Retriever. I also have other dog friends. Here is a picture, the first water color I painted a little over a year ago of my nephew Crosby. I will tell him you think I am completely wrong on this issue. What did I say that you disagreed with? I think people should be thoughtful. Crosby's mom doesn't let him go on others yards. |
We are cat lovers, but are surrounded by dog lovers, whom we are friends with. We have never had a problem with a neighbors dog. All of them have been very careful when walking their dogs and having a bag handy for the occasional poop.
Very sorry to hear the OP is having a problem, and I hope that a common ground can be found so this does not escalate. |

GracieGirl please do not try to put any other words into it. It was as stated. If any other words were uttered I did not hear them.
The only harsh words were spoken by the offender, then a equal response was returned by me. |

Let's see it is 3:19, I have been sitting on my lanai since 3am getting work done, and consoling a friend over his son. There have been 16 dogs that have peed on my lawn and the day is not over, so you can't pick up urine, I don't see you carrying water to rinse the spot, so I just can let the lawn die but I have spent $400. Last month to top dress and fix dead spots. So if you don't mind could you leave $5 each time you walk your dog from your yard to mine so I can continue bring back the dead lawn, that you complained about it looked bad. Nope our gray dog now down yet, but he never leaves our yard.

My dog does her business before we go on our walks. However, the exercise gets her going and she will have another #2 while out on our walk. I ALWAYS pick. She also (like most dogs) likes to "mark" along the way....at least a dozen times......very little, but yes, she's peeing a bit. All of the dogs in my neighborhood seem to do the same. All #2's are picked up...ALWAYS.
Now....for those that have a definite problem with this #2 (picked up), or small amounts of #1.....put a small sign out on your lawn. You know, the one with the dog pooping with an \ through it.....or a NO DOGS sign. When I see this sign. (We have one in my neighborhood), I immedietly move across the street. I always keep my pup away from anyone that has a sign. I moved to a dog friendly community and my dog and I will continue to walk my neighborhood. I will continue to pick up any messes just like my neighbors do. By the way...my dog pees all over my lawn and my lawn is beautiful, green and not one brown spot. Don't blame the dogs, get a better landscaper. |

Okay, back to the topic at hand. I was just trying to punch up the numbers. |

Short leash, you control, keep dog(s) on the street and off everyone else's lawn. It's so easy. You're not walking them to "mark," you're walking them for exercise. One of my dogs will not "have another #2" while walking. The other one might "have another #2," but in the street, which is actually easier to pick up. Problem solved. Who's the boss, anyway, the owner or the dog? |

Better still than dogs, why are people allowed to let their criminal low-life sons or daughters live with them? We have some sex-offenders live in our Village and one of them just got arrested again. Perhaps that's another conversation that needs to be discussed in our paradise.
