Disappointed at Bonifay
I was told that Bonifay had the best breakfast buffet in The Villages. You couldn't tell my my visit there this morning.
Service was typical Villages slow and the food was mediocre at best. We went to get in line and there were two guys who told us to go ahead because they were waiting for pancakes? Really? Waiting for pancakes? I would think that a place that is supposed to be one of the better restaurants would take measures to ensure that the trays are always full. So we went ahead and I noticed that they had what looked like powered scrambled eggs. Again, this is supposed to be a top shelf place. When I got to the bacon there were three people waiting for bacon. It came out right after I arrived so I let the three people go ahead. The bacon was basically one big lump with all of the pieces stuck together. I went back later and got pancakes. They were about 1/32 of an inch thick and about three inches around. I piled four of them on top of each other to make a real pancake. I also got an omelette and I am amazed at how many places don't know how to make omelettes. It was the typical over cooked liquid eggs with all of the fillings just mixed in. That is not an omelette. It was not very good. Hacienda Hills is much better. They have a carving station and all of the food was better. The only good thing about Bonifay was the price which I was surprised to find was only $8.99 each. They do charge $2.25 for some hot water and one tea bag which I find absolutely ludicrous. But they all do the same thing. They have to make it up somewhere. Anyroad, we won't be going back. |
could never figure out why they charge you for coffee or tea…isn't that included in the buffet price???? sort of a rip off hu ??? bonifay has changed a lot….don't know what happen…but not the same….ever since they did the customer rewards card…things have gone down hill…. now they cancelled the card….guess it didn't work out so well of them...

We've never been to breakfast there but go there quite often after 5pm. We eat at the bar and receive great service and food. We also have the loyalty card and love it, for the savings.

Never been to Bonifay CC. Hacienda has the best breakfast buffet with Orange Blossom running a close second.

Cane Garden - The Best
Cane Garden beats them all for daily breakfast. Sit down. Order from excellent menu with specials.
|
Best by far, Evans Prairie. Cooked to order eggs and omlettes. Belgium waffles. Fresh fruit and great service!! $7.99. Less with coupon
|
We did Bonifay 3 times and didn't like the breakfast buffet.(2 years ago) Evans Prairie seemed much better.
Our number 1 place for breakfast in TV is Sunrise Cafe. We have breakfast out about 4 times a week since it is our favorite meal and the Cafe is the best for friendly servers, food, and prices. |

Rae Rae's is hard to beat!! Outstanding food, but expect a wait. It is a small family owned operation that takes pride in serving excellent home cooked food. The biscuits are worth the trip alone.
They are located on 441 between 466 and 466A. on the West side of the road. Small place, you may miss it the first drive by. Look for the crowd though. They are only open for breakfast, I think. We do enjoy Darrell's. Sometimes service is slow, but they have good food, fair prices and We see lots of refills on the coffee, sodas, tea etc. |
Bob Evans is hard to beat for Breakfast. Their big breakfast has eggs, choice of meat, potatoes or wonderful crepes with fruit. Excellent food and wonderful service.

I use to love buffet's but only if they had an omelette station. I always found the pancakes to be less than appealing, if they have been on the tray warmer too long, ( makes a good discus). Making your own waffle is the best way to go.
I try to stay away from buffets, as I tend to eat too much and never have lunch. I'm good to go until dinner. :icon_hungry: I tend to love breakfast only if it is served fresh but that's me. |
Disappointed at Bonifay
We haven't been to Bonifay in over a year but our experience wasn't as bad as others here post. Perhaps they've changed. My only beef was with the hostess who on several and all occasions had an attitude the size of Cincinnati.

I am a little disinclined to be a fan of several of the restaurants owned by the same company because of three or four disappointing meals. |
I don't like Bonifay and Evans Prairie as well as I like Cane Garden and Mallory. Everyone has their own tastes.

Well, she was an older woman dressed very nicely but she didn't smile and seemed like she didn't want to be there and actually acted snobby. We asked for a booth, she took us to one next to the kitchen doors even though only two booths were occupied at the time. When I asked her for a different table she snatched the menus off the table, turned in a huff never looking at us and quickly walked to another on the opposite side of the seating with us trailing behind trying to catch up. She tossed the menus on our new table and asked us very curtly " is this good enough ? " I looked to my wife and said " yes, it'll be fine". She spun 180 on one foot and marched off to her podium Again, barely acknowledging we had just spoke. The waitress was very pleasant but we'll never forget the podium dragon lady. Our succeeding visits weren't as disturbing but they weren't at all very pleasant. |

We have gone to Cane and to Mallory since we first came here and some of the servers are just so patient and so good at what they do and the food is always just fine there. We all have our favorites. I love the Pizza at Mallory and I love the Asian Chicken stir fry at Cane. |

Aren't Bonifay, Evans Prairie, Orange Blossom CC, and Belle Glade all under the same restauranteur?
I don't think it's a good idea to have that situation. If one goes mediocre, the others will offer the same mediocrity. |
