Green fees on the rise
I just picked up the 2016 green fee schedule. I see that are going to increase again. I have a request, Palmer and several executive courses are closed because of poor condition. We played Oakleigh today and it was in pretty good shape. Has anyone played other executive courses and found them to be in good condition ??

Palmetto is fine.

Played Escambia this morning; everything was great. Played Redfish Run Wednesday, greens putted great but were dead, as is understandable with them having been sprayed to kill them in preparation of re-doing them. Bonifay Pensacola/Destin was great on Tuesday. Irrigation of the courses is doing its best to keep up with the no rain we're getting but we're needing a good soaking rain.

As for championship courses, Glenview's Tally Ho & Fox Run (especially the greens) are in pretty decent shape.

Warren.
Today, May 1st, the prices/rates on Championship golf courses here in The Villages officially drop until December 1st. Your homework is to work on a title for this information. |
Does anyone expect prices on anything not to rise? Has the cost of gas and oil, labor, chemicals, electricity, and all of the other things that it takes to maintain a golf course gone up? Have taxes gone up?
I don't understand why anyone would be surprised that a price of something would go up. I also hear a lot of people on this forum complain about the condition of the golf courses. It might be because they are being run on too small a budget. Maybe an increase in fess will result in better conditions. I don't know either way, but I do know that a car that cost $30,000 today could have been bought for about $3,000 forty years ago. |

Prices going up??!!?? Where? On what? Who ever heard of such a thing?!?

The increase that seems a little excessive is for golf cart rental. Up 50% from $10 to $15 - per person. I know most of us own carts but occasionally I need to rent one - guests, cart being serviced, etc.

What would personally concern me more, is the cost of filling the fuel tank of that rig in your avatar. :p |
