Grand Children in the Area

I am sure this has been discussed many times in the past. However as I am still new to this website I will ask for myself. My daughter is recently widowed (at age 38) and has talked about moving to this area. Whiule I would love to spend more time with her and the grandkids, I am not sure of the best places for them to live. Her husband left her well cared for financially so I don't think career is the primary objective to moving here. I think she just wants to be closer to her family, which is understandable. I just want to make sure I know the "rules" prior to their arrival.

Does anyone else have children and grandchildren in the area. She has looked at both The Bison Valley neighborhood and The Villages of Parkwood.

The grands would need to go to the Charter School, so I am sure a job will be needed.

Does anyone know anything about these places?

KathieI 01-05-2009 08:19 PM

Felix, if you PM Cassie, I think she could give you a lot of information.

Cassie325 01-05-2009 09:21 PM

Yes...Felix feel free to PM me...

I will give you what I can....but bottom line is that it will be wonderful for you to have your family here...it is nice to know there is some beautiful family housing both from The Villages....and from other organizations.

Bison Valley is golf cart accessible....Villages of Parkwood is as well IF you have a street legal cart.

harleysville 01-08-2009 09:16 PM

Looking for family housing too

Hi,

I am also searching for family housing and also employment near The Villages this year. My parents have lived there for 3 years and are encouraging us to move there from PA. We're ready but want to be smart about it. I will send a PM to Cassie - sounds like you're the one to ask.

Thanks!
Vicki

The Villages Charter School
http://www.thevillagescharterschool....traloffice.asp

Bison Valley web site:
http://www.bisonvalleyvillage.com/

Bison Valley has 2 to 4 bedroom homes. Very Nice. Built by The Villages and owned by The Villages. You can get a Golf Cart and ride anywhere from Bison Valley.

Very nice area. I live in Bison Valley. Kids in Charter School. can tell you all you need.

Good Luck

Cassie325 01-09-2009 12:03 PM

I KNEW I was not the only one with kids on this sight!!

G-what grade are the kids in? We have looked at Bison Valley...it is beautiful! The homes are just the same as in many of the Villages homes. When we were looking we went through the same process...choosing interior...exterior etc....same pricing it seems....just no pool...unless you have one added to the home sight.

Any talk of adding a "family" pool in Bison Valley?

Please PM me more about your Charter School experience...our girl just started this week at the Middle school....so far so good!!

Any talk of adding a "family" pool in Bison Valley?

And a gym?

Cassie325 01-09-2009 01:12 PM

Bogie...that is a great idea!! Personally I think TV's should build a rec center with pool, etc for families....they can then charge an amenties fee or membership fee if the family lives outside of the Family neighborhoods.

They could then host the summer camps there as well. Who does one talk to about this? I would buy in Bison Valley in a second if I thought there was going to be a pool, rec center etc....I would pay the amenities fees as it is worth it!!

GMONEY 01-09-2009 02:38 PM

The pool question has been asked. There is spot on the back road that is designated as a park, but no plans have been made to do anything with it yet. alot want a pool, then some dont. We are fighting to have lights put at the entry to Bison Valley. so dark at night, that is the only thing i have against that place. Love living there. Alot of nice people in there already.
If you go to the map on the website, look at lot 15. Now that is a deal. That is a big house. Lantana, 4 bdr 2 bath. over 2500 living. 245,000. i wish i could buy that one. DOnt know about the gym deal. I hear there is maybe a gym coming to Buffalo Ridge?????
The POA is run by TV also.

What do you mean "the POA is run by TV also"??

GMONEY 01-09-2009 04:25 PM

Porperty Owners Ass. They are who enforce the restrictions. Basically same as Villages.

downeaster 01-09-2009 05:17 PM

More on POA

The POA does not enforce anything. Go to http://www.poa4us.org/ to learn more about them.

GMONEY 01-12-2009 06:14 AM

LEts say they are the ones who monitor our Deal, i have the letter to prove it..

villages07 01-12-2009 07:30 AM

I think there was a little misunderstanding here....

When Gmoney said The Villages runs the POA, he/she meant the POA for Bison Valley; POA being used here in a generic sense.

Downeast thought GMoney meant the specific POA organization in The Villages, which is, most certainly, not connected with The Villages Developer.

Russ_Boston 01-12-2009 08:46 AM

I could have made some money betting that one. I knew as soon as the letters POA hit the pages there would be misunderstanding. I knew what was meant by it but some people just see POA or VHA and get their dander up!

I think it is rather amusing.

If the admins ever want to raise page views just put those initials anywhere in a thread and watch those web clicks add up.

Are the residents of Bison Valley Village allowed to use pools in TVs?

Cassie325 01-23-2009 12:05 PM

Not unless they have a in area Guest Pass and are with the actual resident of the villages that provided the guest pass for them. For instance if Grandma provides the guest pass for little Amanda who lives in Bison Valley with her mom, then Amanda can only go to a pool with Grandma. Amanda and her mom can not go on their own.

This is my understanding.

GMONEY 01-23-2009 03:35 PM

That is correct. We are not allowed to use any of the villages amenities. We dont get none of that, unlike i have heard in the past. There are however families that live in Bison that have realitives that live in The Villages so they get them in.
We have a Golf Cart access and that is it. Heck we cant even get them to put up lights at the entry. at night you cant even see the Bison Valley sign. Parkwood has light everywhere and The Villages on the right of us is all bright with lights. We are like the Black Hole.

harleysville 01-23-2009 07:12 PM

Parkwood amenities

I know Village of Parkwood is a fairly new community. My question is have they built the clubhouse, kids play area, pool, etc. or are these items going to be constructed in the future?

Does anyone know how many houses total they expect to build in Parkwood?

Many thanks!
Vicki

BUT what a beautiful black hole it is!! Looks no different than any other Village.....oh wait except the lack of a neighborhood pool...and ofcourse the lights....but it is beautiful.

ONE great thing I noticed when I drove by this morning....residents are allowed to put fences up around their back yard!! This is great for your privacy....

We are going to look at the 4 bedroom Lantana on Monday......we may be neighbors....

Oh I met another couple that is building in there....great couple with 2 boys!! You will love them!

Vicki~~I believe Parkwood had an open house to present their rec center....but I can't find it!! I know they plan on building a lot of homes....just do not know the time frame. They own a lot of land!! It will be gorgeous once it is complete! I am looking at a home in their on Monday as well! I will give you details then!!

G~~when Vicki comes for a visit we should all get together to meet...I will invite the other couple as well.....

I believe parkwood is 378 homes. no club house yet. phase 2 is on hold now in Parkwood.

if you like reaching out your window and touching your neighbor on the shoulder while he sites on his couch, Parkwood is the place to go.

That Lantanna by the cart path is real nice. big house for the price. i told my wife the other day I wanted that one. They just listed Lot 64 behind me for 189,000. Over 1900 living whispering Pine. 3/2/2

Felix the Cat 01-30-2009 10:19 PM

Well I love the responses I have recieved from this. I have actually met several wonderful young people from the Bison Valley village. I am thrilled to know such wonderful people live there and will be encouraging my daughter to look at it. I think it is so wonderful that the developer has made such nice homes available for families. I can not wait until they move here.

There is actually a woman about my age there as well so her grandchildren can move in when the time is right. Her daughter is very ill and it seems that at some point Grandma will be taking over the raising of the children. She kept her home in Duval but also bought a home in BV. God Bless her and all of you who have given encouragement.

Is there a rule about letting the family stay at my home with me while the villages builds their new home. What of it takes longer than 30 days?

SABRMnLgs 01-31-2009 12:20 AM

You can be sure .........

In response to "Felix" regarding how long the kids can stay, ..... you can almost be sure someone with a pencil, a piece of paper and a set of binoculars will be counting on their fingers to the minute how long your kids stay with you. They got rules here you wouldn't believe.
Had a very large "stink" about a 6 month old baby on here just a few months ago. The GP were actually reported by a neighbor. But I won't get into that again.
