Mounting automotive tires

Has anyone ordered tires from Tire rack and had them mounted and balanced locally? If so where?

Thank you, VT

CWGUY 05-24-2016 05:30 PM

2 Times. Both times at Tire Kingdom in front of Kohls on 441.
GREAT experience both times. Can even have them delivered there. They will call you when they come in.

Mikeod 05-24-2016 07:25 PM

Same here. It was convenient and painless. Had them delivered to the installer and was notified when they arrived. I set up a time to have them installed. And the installation charges were spelled out before I ordered the tires.

villagetinker 05-24-2016 07:42 PM

I am confused, did you order through Tire Kingdom to get them from Tire Rack, was that how you got the installation charges up front?

Also, I have heard so much negative comments about tire kingdom (colony), I was not even going to consider them.

Thank you, VT

No. Go to the Tire Rack site. They tell you who will do the work in your area and the price they will charge.I picked "Tire Kingdom" and was very happy I did. You pay Tire rack for the tires and Tire Kingdom for the install.

First time I ordered two(2) tires to match what I had. Ordered on one day and they were delivered to my house by noon the next day.Took them to Tire Kingdom in front of Kohls on 441 and across from Lady Lake P.D. (made appointment first) for the mount and balance.

Several months later wanted to replace the other two. Went to Tire Kingdom and told them what I wanted and asked them to beat or match Tire Rack. They looked up my tires and could not get them. They said thanks for letting us try. Then they said order them from Tire Rack again and have them delivered here and we will call you and make an appointment when they come in. They made it VERY PAINLESS both times.

I THINK THE DEALER WITH ALL THE BAD REVIEWS IS "TIRE CHOICE"

I went there with a coupon for an oil change and they tried to sell me everything they had in stock. THE WORST!!!

CWGUY's internet reference took me to Tire Kingdom.

What is Tire Rack and why the interest?

JGVillages 05-25-2016 05:52 AM

Ask Tire Rack about Barnett Tire in Leesburg. Family owned independent business. I have been dealing with them for 10 years and would go nowhere else.

No. My link took you to Tire Rack. Tire Rack lists local places that do the work. Tire Kingdom is listed on their site as one of these places.

Tire Rack is an internet site to buy tires. I think a lot of people are interested in other peoples' experiences with companies they have no knowledge of.

V Tinker asked about them. I had two good transactions with them, so I posted a reply.

Bottom line - both were a pleasure to do business with. I found the exact tire I wanted. I knew the price and the cost of mounting and balancing. I could compare to other places.

Tire Choice is the place to avoid. There have been many negative reviews on this site and I personally have had 2 bad experiences with them.

If you are even in Northern Indiana a trip to Tire Rack is worth it. You can even test drive tires on your car, on their on site test track. Before I got new tires for the Porsche they mounted up about half a dozen sets to drive on before I picked a Bridgestone (and left with them mounted on my wheels).

Top notch company - and if you are local to them, even better.

Thank you 😊I didn't want to appear rude to the poster, there are others though that sentiment doesn't apply.

I purchased new tires for my car last Thursday, but I ran a comparison check first.

I bought four Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 tires. Tire Rack sells them for $585 for a set of 4. Shipping was $56.80 and the Tire Kingdom installation would be $81. That totals $722.

After reading the reviews for Wildwood Tire, many people said they were great. I looked at their website and saw the tires, so I called them on the phone about 3pm for a price. They said those tires installed would be $770 total price and they could have them tomorrow. I said go ahead and order them, they didn't ask for a credit card or any money up front. Next morning I called about 10am and they said the tires are there and come in anytime. I arrived about 11am and was out the door by 12:30.

My impression at first was they must be very slow is why they can do things very fast. After sitting in the visitor area and watching their operation for 90 minutes I realized just the opposite. They sell a lot of tires and the phone and walk-in's were steady.

villagetinker 05-25-2016 04:41 PM

Going to them tomorrow, same story, very good price, tires the next day, and no advance payment. these are for my son in laws truck, just noticed a screw in my BRAND NEW TIRES, so I will get that repaired tomorrow also.

Thanks again for all the info.

Thanks again for all the info.

If you are in Ocala - Discount Tire will remove the screw and repair the tire for free. They do free flat repair for anyone, if you got your tires there or not. Nation Wide.

If you're talking about 'Tire Choice' located in Colony near McDonalds, you've made an excellent choice to stay away.

Not only did they try to up-sell me on a new brake job and a few other things not needed (the only time I took my vehicle there), the young punk acted like I was a mechanical idiot and that since I was 'old' he could snow me with technical terms.

I'm not an ASCE certified mechanic by any means, but I used to do ALL of my maintenance myself. Nowadays of course, it's much easier to let someone else fight with all of the headaches.

I just pity those Villagers who don't know any better and let these ripoff artists talk them into paying for things that they don't need, at some pretty high prices.

Sam's Club, and Costco also, is a good choice for tires if they can get what you want. Their installation, which includes lifetime balance and rotation, is well priced.

I'll second that!

Costco usually has excellent sales on top of the line Michelin tires and I have yet to be dissatisfied with any of their work.

villagetinker 05-26-2016 09:26 AM

Tried Sams club, could not get through to the tire department, and never got a call back. Same at Walmart.

Went to Wildwood tire this morning and got tires.
