So sorry to hear this. Wish you all the best.

I am so sorry. I understand. I wish there were words.

I'm so sorry for your loss
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay Her gentle head upon my knee And share her silent thoughts with me... She'll come no longer to my call Retrieve no more her favorite ball A voice far greater than my own Has called her to His golden throne. Although my eyes are filled with tears I thank Him for the happy years He let her spend down here with me And for her love and loyalty When it is time for me to go And join her there, this much I know... I shall not fear the transient dark For she will greet me with her bark. (--Author Unknown--) |

We had to put our beloved Shih-Tzu, Sable, down 3 years ago; one of the hardest things we've ever done. So sorry for your loss; there's nothing like the love of a pet.

So sorry for your loss.

There is a pain and a grief that only pet lovers know when the time comes to part with God's little creature He entrusted to us for awhile. I am so sorry for your loss. I post not because I think it will make anything better for you, but only that you know I and all the good folks above have experienced this painful tragedy. I pray for God's grace to help you and your family through this bad time.
I congratulate you for posting. |
All of us pet lover's / owner's know exactly how you feel. Thoughts and prayers with you during this difficult time. I'm sure she had a wonderful life.
|
so sorry for your loss. It's always hard losing our babies. My thoughts are with you.

I was hoping this wasn't a goodbye to Bonyta; I know how much you loved her. When I lose a dog, it takes a chunk out of my heart. I find it helps a bit if I make a little memorial with a candle, a poem, a picture, her collar, etc. It just makes me feel like I'm honoring her memory. I'm so sorry. |
I am so sorry, Bosoxfan. You must be heartbroken. I can surmise from your posts how much you loved her, and that you gave her a wonderful life. That's all we can do until someone finds a way to make our pets live forever. Rest in peace, Bonyta.

Add our condolences to those above. We have never recovered from losing our last beautiful yellow lab, and I still feel her around me.

Sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that. I recall occasionally seeing her riding around in the golf cart before you moved 'south'. Everyone that has had dogs understands your pain... be well...
|
Sorry to hear of your loss. Our condolences to you.

Knowing the love of a dog is heart warming in itself, but I just wanted to send you a warm hug on this Sunday morning.
|
I know exactly how you feel. On Christmas Eve in 1959 when I was 9, our neighbor knocked on the front door and said I think I hit your dog. My dad messed up and didn't watch her. It wa a black cocker spaniel who was 10, I had grown with that dog.
The last time was in 2009 when we lost our 12 year old black cocker spaniel to cancer. I took a year to get over it and not cry when I saw a photo or look at a piece of her hair I kept. At first I wanted to go right out and get another dog. We waited and said it would be easier after we moved to Florida. We bought a CYV in anticipation of getting a dog. However, the more time has passed the more I don't want a dog and all the worry. I've never had children so my dog was alway my child. |
In january of 2007 we lost our chocolate lab Patches to cancer. He was 14. Each day after the house just seemed to get emptier. In two weeks my wife and I, and our cat welcomed bouncing puppy Bailey into our home. All 16 pounds of him. I've lived all my life with a dog except when I was in the service. When I was about 8 or 9 My father and I found a german shepard puppy wandering with other puppys in a junkyard. He was the only one we could coax to the car. We took him to the vet and since his feet were cut and sore from scrambling around in the scrap we treated his feet and named him " Foots". He was a beautiful black and tan and was very loyal, friendly, and protective.

Since the day I got an apartment in college, I have never been without a pet. They bring such joy to our family, and we will never be without one. Or two...
|
I just got through reading about Joshua's Place (story in the paper this morning). I have a feeling I may be in the market to give a needy Golden a home, although I swore up and down I could not put myself through the loss again!

At one time I had three dogs, two cats and two horses. Those days are long gone, of course. When my current two dear dogs depart this world, we will probably concentrate on rescuing older dogs. Also, I've also filled out an application to foster. |

I know losing a pet is extremely sad, but the joy they bring is worth it. |

Bosoxfan, perhaps when you are ready for another dog, you would consider a german shepherd dog rescue. Some people must fill the hole in their heart immediately (me). Others need more time to grieve. |
For those of us that have lost our beloved pets, we feel your sorrow and pain. So sorry for your loss.

Why dogs live a short life according to a 6 year old
I love this story from a post on Facebook:
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.” Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.” |

It's a tough job; you have my admiration. |
I want to thank you all for your kind words of condolence. My wife and I are very appreciative!!

Bosoxfan, My condolences to you any your wife. Bonyta was a very lucky dog to have had such caring guardians. Perhaps this poem, The Rainbow Bridge, will bring you some comfort.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... |

Bosox, we will miss seeing Bonyta as we pass your house. I will always remember her in the sunglasses riding in your cart. She was such a sweet girl.
She was fortunate to have had family who loved her so much. Give each other a hug and know that it was time and that you did what was best for her. |
