"No Dumping" Dog yard signs

Have you noticed the proliferation of the little doggie signs in peoples yards that say "No Dumping PLease" with a cut out sign of a dog hunched over in a compromising position? Hmmm they are starting to multiply one would think they are alive and mate at night.
As a villager I thought there were restrictive covenants against statuary and signs in yards???? Okay so maybe not (depending on village of course) but really people are you that anal (sorry for the pun here) that you don't want a neighbor dog in your yard? Okay of course they should pick up the poop and carry a doggie bag if they walk their dog but shouldn't the sign read "Pick up your dog poop" rather than "no dumping"? Is your grass that special?

I haven't noticed more of those signs, but I am happy that people are using them. For those that are "anal" about the dog poop on their lawn, it's the thing to do. My pup may have an occasional "accident" on a neighbors lawn. However, if I see one of those stupid signs.....she is on the other side of the road far away from the lawn with the sign.
I personally don't think those little signs are considered an ornamental yard thing...or a yard sign.
I'm lucky that my neighborhood is very dog friendly. We ALL pick up after our pups.....ALWAYS!!!!

Unusual post for your first.....welcome to TOTV????

When I see something like this, I always wonder. Yes I do.

I don't know about the signs but, it is my yard, and I don't want someone's dog doing its business there. Why can't you just have it go n your own yard. Is your grass that special?

Thankfully, I haven't noticed. I have to wonder why anyone would.

Well, my yard is my private yard. I don't go down and whiz on anyone elses. Dogs on leashes says to me the owner is allowing his dog to go onto my yard.

I love dogs I really do and if I didn`t travel so much I would have one or perhaps even two .

However their urine kills the grass and it just seems odd that an owner/ dog parent would think that it is A-OK to kill their neighbor`s grass day after day .

I agree! I had a neighbor that kept going to my lawn and he is across the street. I told him that he better stop this and that to train his dog to do his business on his own lawn. He got mad and said how do I know when my dog will go! Gee now his dog is trained to pop on his own lawn, driveway etc. Dog owners who let their dogs go on other peoples lawns that is my property! We spend enough to keep it nice.

I would say no special grass.
But all said and done
It's Their Grass

I can't believe no one posts about the cigarette and cigar trash everywhere. I walk my dogs everyday. If by mistake they poop somewhere other than their own yard( never in a private yard) if I can help it. I pick it up and carry it home. Once every few weeks or less I might see poop not picked up. The other trash I see is gross not to mention poisonous to wild life.
Never understood the poop threads even before I ever owned a dog

golf2140 06-06-2016 09:37 PM

I have had dog's from the pound all my life. One time he was on a long cable in the rear yard and it came apart. I followed his trail in the rain / snow for hours. I found him four hours later. He was a mutt, but our mutt We were both cold and wet. When we moved to The Villages we saw that it was not fair to have a dog, because our yards cannot be fenced nor are they large enough and I din't want to walk him / her on my neighbors property.

To the OP's point, I think if you call the district office, they will have the owners remove those "obnoxious and tacky signs".

Schneil 06-07-2016 03:04 AM

For your pets health, please keep them on your grass only! They can pick up a variety of diseases from other animals. I have a corner lot with a sidewalk, a great number of people walk their pets here. Animals are territorial and want to re-scent. Consequently my grass not only have droppings, but also urine burnt out areas. But, as I started my dialog, keep your dogs on your own grass. My dog passed away, he was infected by another's dogs dropping on our property. I would love to post a sign: "a sick dog has infected this property, for your pets safety please...."
