children in the villages?
Im wondering which of the Villages allows kids to live there? a friend is interested in moving here..and they have a child..
but both she and hubby are over 55 OH well I just called and office said no neighborhoods allows kids.. but he said there are neighborhoods nearby that do...anyone know where? |
Here are some all age communities in the immediate vicinity:
New homes.... Buffalo Ridge - CR 101 adjacent to TV, across from and north of Crispers. Villages of parkwood... also on CR 101 but further north up near doggie do run run. Lakeside Landings??? off of Rainey Trail, southwest of Belvedere Older neighborhoods.... Spring Arbor(?) on CR 466 between LaZamora Gate and Rolling Acres; also, a small subdivision (something with Oak in it) near Target shopping center on 441. |

You got it 07....Bison Valley, Spring Arbor and Oak Meadows are ALL family friendly villages. These are sold vy property of the villages. Lakeside Landing and Courtney Villages are condo/townhome complexes. Villages of Parkwood are immediately behind Bison Valley. All seem wonderful and all are indeed family friendly. |

AAhhh...this is very true...NO Villages Fees....however if you are in a Villages owned family area...there are NO amenities!! No pools....No rec centers...but 2 are golf cart accessible!! Villages of Parkwood are suppose to have amenities soon and I don't know if there are fees attached....probably! Lakeside Landing has a GREAT pool....and rec center....but there are fees there as well. Bottom line in my opinion is...no matter where you live...No Fees...No Fun.... |
Yeeekkkkkkks!
oooo.... Children in The Villages! Sounds like a Stephen King thriller to me!
|
The rules are different if you have children over 19 that are living with you in The Villages. If you have children over 19 they can live with you.

No place to run and hide anymore!! |

Not to worry they have their own neighborhoods....and they probably won't be hanging out at Katie Bells...but you may see them at the grocery stores.... But where would all these kids live if not in the area...and how smart the developers were to build them a place to live...and make money on it. Personally I think because of the school system and the beautfiully built homes here it is an ideal place to raise a child. What better place to teach your child(ren) how to respect their elders!! Just my opinion....and I think there may be a few others that agree....but the idea of the book....it is a GREAT one...and I started writing one a couple of months ago...:agree: |

Dont take me too seriously, I was a kid once! Actually I have three grandchildren that I adore! Just need to come to The Villages for some peace and quiet from time to time. |
Elders is a term not meant to apply to just older people.
The elders to teach them to respect first are their parents. THEN comes grown ups like us seniors who live in TV.
I enjoy children very much but what I don't enjoy is the stress of raising them and watching them be raised. It is the hardest job in the world and finally we have done it. It wears me out to see the guiding, the decisions, the bargaining, the directing, the repeating, the bartering, the bantering, the badgering and the lack of sleep, worry, sacrifice, time management and hard work it takes to raise a child well. I want to leave that behind when I am here. I totally respect the young parents of today. I know first hand how hard the job is. |

Peace....yes there is much of that in TV's.....but not so much quiet....except around 5-6 AM.....:icon_wink: |
TV is an "age restricted, 55 +, golf cart" community. To get that designation, they must meet certain state (maybe federal?) requirements - which they did. Having gotten that designation, some "good" things happen like we can drive unregistered golf carts on many public roads within our community. One of the restrictions TV must meet to get and maintain this designation is "No children". That means NO, NADA, NONE living in TV under age 19 - just 30 day visits allowed. Children over 19 - different story. As your friends are both 55+, I am going to presume they used the term "children" loosely and were not referring to the under-19 variety. I suspect the individual who answered their question about "children" did not make the same presumption. I would have then re-ask their question with a complete explanation of "their children" (age) and see what answer they get then.

I also don't know if there is a monthly fee for the amenities and upkeep of the public areas, pool and club house etc. thanks GG! |
Parkwood Amenities fee
Hi all! I have been researching a move to Villages of Parkwood and inquired of the monthly homeowners fee listed on their website. I was told it is $50 per mth. Didn't sound too bad to me. :) :a040:
Vicki |
Yes Parkwood is suppose to start the fees at 50.00 monthly. They are suppose to have alot of things there like pools, rec center,,, wieght room and so on. The problem is, dont see 50.00 taking care of all that. they have 378 homes planned. Talking with the Owners of the place, very well could increase quite a bit. Just dont know about paying all that and being able to touch my neighbors house from my livingroom window. Kinda wierd how they set the houses up there.
I live in Bison Valley and checked all other places out first. I cant think of a place other than Bison Valley I would reather be in. A very nice area right next to everything possible. Got Cart access to all places, that is something Parkwood dont have unless your cart in road legal, and that might be coming to an end from what i hear. Kids in Parkwood driving golf carts down cr-101 on the sidewalk. SCSO said not happening. Parkwood is considered Wildwood and Bison Valley is Oxford. Wildwood Police patroll Parkwood and SCSO Bison Valley |

Every now and then it slips out.. I have been working along with The Villages for about 12 years now, might as well live as close as possible..... |
Well, welcome Gmoney. Like having some young folks here to give a different perspective. Sure, might as well live close by. Why don't you come to the TOTV lunch sometime? Next one is this Friday at Crispers. We'd love to meet you.

I am betting G and I are not the only "younger" generation(30's-40's) representatives here...actually there are a lot of the younger people on TOTV and in the immediate area....they are just a little quieter than some of us....hehehehe...imagine ME quiet!! I think it is good to blend many generations....just my opinion again! Just one of the many reasons why I love this area! |

I would not live any where else. Wife and Kids love it here. We have lived in Bison since Last Feb. Moved over from Leesburg. |

The area along with the schools make this place a must for us and most families. Quite a few families in Bison that are from up north, and they love it here. Most have parents that live in The Villages and moved here to be close to them. And yes the Charter School is very nice. And Just to note: The Charter Middle School Golden Girls went to State Competition this past weekend. They are now State Champs in The Kick and Hip Hop Dance routines. They also earned the Judges Award with their Jazz Routine. Represented The Villages area with Pride!!!!!!!!!!! |

I have been following the Golden Girls, and to win dance competitions on a state level is no small feat! These young women are athletes in the finest shape. Since title nine took place and schools were required to get as many girls as boys into athletic programs, dance teams and drill teams have become more prolific and better and better. Cheer leading is a challenging sport as well. It requires hours of conditioning, years of dance, and gymnastics to be on one of these teams. I congratulate the coaches and the girls and I LOVE YOUR NAME!!
Good for you Golden Girls!! |
Gracie,
I think they ought to outlaw that yellow font color. My eyes are fried after taking a quick look at your post!!! I'm leaving now to go put my sunglasses on. |
