The restrictive Voter ID law in Texas has been struck down in Texas!

Texas must allow voting for people without ID. This follows Wisconsin's Voter ID law which was also struck down!

Is Florida the next for us to change?

Yeah that`s a really great idea to allow anyone to vote anywhere they want as often as they want and with no ID .

I realize it's a pipe dream and unconstitutional, but I would really like to see a study of let's say 200 voters, 4 from each state, that were permitted to vote without photo ID. Run DMV records, see if they have a valid driver's license. Run credit cards (or more likely EBT cards) and see if there were any alcohol or tobacco purchase. Check the video cameras from their local convenience stores looking for the same. Heck, it might be as easy as setting up a camera at the polling place to see how many arrived by driving their own car. Then, if they don't have a license at least they could be arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation, 3rd degree

It's the electronic voting machines, they can be programmed in advance to produce the "correct" winner. That's why nobody cares who votes, the votes don't matter. Remember: It's not who votes or how they vote that matter, it's WHO COUNTS the votes.

One problem is the misinterpretation of the Declaration of Independence line "All men are created equal". Read what the founding fathers had to say about it. The meaning was "all men are created equal UNDER THE LAW". It is obvious that we are not all equal. Miss America is prettier. Einstein was smarter. Spieth plays better golf. Lady Gaga sings better. But the difference is talent and actions, not skin color or religion. The equality (is supposed) to come if you are standing before a judge and jury, and justice is blind. Yes, at the time. For thousands of years, slavery, not only of Africans, was considered acceptable. Slaves were property, not people. Then as civilization "evolved" it was no longer acceptable and ex-slaves were now considered people and given equal rights. Same became true of women. Now it is true for gays as well.
So, at least in theory, all lingering prejudices aside, almost everyone is equal in front of a court.

Felons should be able to vote if even if they are in prison .
Anyone with a Green Card should be able to vote .
Anyone who is 18 or over should be able to vote but they should not need to provide proof of age or any form of ID .
People in comas should be able to vote by proxy --- anyone can be their proxy -- no ID required
Anyone who is a citizen of a foreign country but has at one time visited the US as a Tourist or has thought that they might someday wish to visit the US should be able to Vote via the Internet or by Proxy .
There is no need to prove that any person has the Proxy of another !
All " Trans " people should be able to vote at least twice --- one as a man and once as a woman .

During the far majority of the many years of slavery on this continent it existed with the approval and encouragement of the British Monarchy .
Do the math . We were not even a Nation until 1789 . The Federal Gvt was very weak by design until Lincoln . The States were superior to the Federal Gvt .
The Fed Gvt was still fighting off the Brits until 1814 . Yes it took another 51 years for slavery to end which was sad but the Fed Gvt had very limited power to do anything .

At the time, NOBODY considered blacks as people. Therefore, the rights of people did not apply. They were seen as draft animals, chattel.

The 3/5ths ruling was to limit the impact of slaves on Congressional representation, it was political. Slaves gave the south "too many" representatives due to the slave population. It wasn't for the census.

The slaves were "released" for one reason and one reason only...mechanization. Machinery replaced the slaves, tractors could do the work of 100 men. it wasn't altruism or philanthropy that freed the slaves, it was politics backed up by their mechanized replacements waiting in the wings.

If voting mattered, they wouldn't let anyone do it, since it doesn't matter, they'll let anyone do it. It does nothing but make you feel good about getting ripped off.

There still are...plenty of them...in AFRICA! The same people who sold us ours are still enslaving others. And WE'RE the "bad guys"?

Slavery wasn't popular in the north because the industries were different. In the north you had more of a skilled industrial society, it didn't lend itself well to mindless idiot slaves who couldn't do...well much of anything other than lifting and carrying. The south was a different story and why it had many more slaves, it was agrarian, it relied on slaves to work the vast fields.

In the north slaves were seen as unfair competition, workers who didn't get paid kept the cost of production down. Other business owners didn't want the unfair competition. And here you thought the slave/free state arguments were about human rights and equality...you were wrong.

The slavery issue was a political issue. Lincoln used it to seize state power. Not unlike Constantine using Christianity.

If you know anything about history you should know a lot of black men owned slaves.

The FIRST slave owner in America was a black man from Virginia. For some reason, this seems to be kept a secret.
