Lawn and pest control
anyone know anything about Hometown Landscaping and Pest Control? How are they and are they prompt?

Do not do what they promise! They don't return phone calls and when you call them, all u can ever talk to is the receptionist. The landscaping they do is LOVELY, but the rest of their services are terrible, along with their attitude and lies. |

I have used four. The absolute best is Deans. I would not even consider anyone else.

Run as fast as you can! Period... I was with them on
their first day... for 6 months they were very good in all respects.. Now almost 3 years later... They should not be allow to work in 'TV" At one time it was reported they had a silent partner called Marty of Service Smart. |
Hard to find a lawn care company that will mow, edge, trim shrubs, fertilize and treat pests. I am with Service Smart and not very happy with them. Can someone recommend and all in one company? I am a snowbird otherwise I would do it myself. Thanks for the help!

Service Smart Lawn Service does not provide smart service
Service Smart of Ocala, FL had been our Lawn/Pest Control Company for two (2) years. Paid in full up front. Nevertheless, "Had" is the operative word. When they start out they are wonderful -- green lush lawn, no weeds, no bugs. As time goes on, so do they. Service people still come out when there is a problem--but the problem is still there when they leave again and again. I had finally had it in in June of this year and canceled their service. I requested the balance of the year refund -- nothing happened. I contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB). On June 14, 2016, Ken Smith, Owner of Service Smart advised the BBB that he was issuing a refund for the remainder of my agreement. His payments are as good as his service: it is now August 2, 2016, and I still have NOT received the refund. . . Neighbor had the same problem; he gave up on the refund. I refuse; it is now a matter of principal. I paid in full in good faith -- they do not seem to know the meaning. I will not tell you not to use them, as your experience may be better than mine; I will just say, as time passes, Service Smart does not keep up with smart service . . . Good Luck!!. For the last 15 months we've used Falcon Lawn & Pest. They do lawns and pest control for us, including taking care of our double Sylvester Palm and trimming extensive hedges. If you want more info or a free estimate, www Falconpest.com or email Info@falconpest.com. |

Does anyone know about Truly Nolen Pest Control? They appear to be located near The Villages but I can't find any posts regarding their services.

I agree do not get Service Smart. We have nothing but problems with their scheduling. We have a contract saying they will come once a month for trim, weeding, and pest. Well that does not happen. We have to call constantly to get them to come. They promise Monday and do not show up. Our contract is up in January and hope to find another company.

Good thing we have these forums. What is it about Florida services? The first half of the relationship is good, then it's all downhill...
I had bad experiences with Home inspection Real estate agent Charitable furniture donation Trash hauling New flooring .... TG for Empty Nest caretakers; they're holding this whole project together for me. (absentee) |

In the past, many posters on TOTV have warned against yearly contracts. |

-- Bob C Update: I've been with Falcon for two months now and I am generally happy with the service. They show up like clockwork every week, do a good job and I get a nice professional invoice in my email shortly after they leave. With Fertigator I never really knew if they had come or not unless I was physically there to witness it. On the other hand, I am noticing some bare spots developing in the lawn that were never there before. Its difficult to know what may be causing that. It could be the drought I suppose. I'm wondering if I need to water more (but my irrigation water usage is already pretty high, 14,400 gallons last month for my corner lot). |

I'm with Massey and am disappointed. Will try Dean's next or Falcon....based on Villager recommendations. Thank you for suggestions.:)

We have tried Deans, Massey, and currently Service Smart. All three are the same, talk a good game, start out ok, but then slide into slipshod work and work routines. So all I can share is who not to use. Still looking ourselve too.

We have Deans and headed into our 3rd year.....very cooperative, provide good service and if you take their advice your place will look great. No up front cost or contract. You pay when you get the service and can cancel any time. I was a bit hard headed in the beginning and didn't take their advice and had some issues with my stuff. When I finally started to listen my stuff started to look good. What worked in PA doesn't work in Florida, what thrived up there dies down here. Deans will be our provider for a long time.

Is anyone currently contracting with Service Smar AND pleased with them? I understand the business changed hands and is suppose to be better. Their promises sound good but former track record is scary. Curious as to if the new owner has turned their reputation around. Thanks.
