Cobie Smulders seems a good choice for the Major Susan Turner character or someone like that in the movie coming out in October 2016.

I have been an avid reader of the Reacher series from the beginning, so selling out and casting Cruise in the part was simply ridiculous. :oops:

Reachers size (6'5"/250 lbs) has been an integral part of every book, but just because the producers want to make money with a big name star...they cast that shrimp Cruise?! :mad:

Sorry, but I refuse to go to any more Reacher movies and have to fight the vision of Cruise every time I read or reread one of his books. :(

I go to the movies but I treat them as totally separate from the books. I, too, wish they had cast that series appropriately.

I am a little biased as Tom Cruise stayed on my e-mail list for years. Not saying he actually read anything I sent him though. And that was more than a decade ago.

Lee Child just says that Jack Reacher is an unstoppable force and so is Tom Cruise in his portrayal.

it's not even Tom's height that's the problem--it's his all over look. He's slight of build and the contrast to the Reacher character couldn't be more striking. Jason Statham's is 5'10" but would be believable as Reacher.

I got an e-mail from someone claiming to be George Clooney back around 2002 or 2003. Now, he would not be a good Jack Reacher. And the e-mail was probably sent by a Dallas, Texas actress (not Florida's Dallas) I was writing back then who was day dreaming of dating George Clooney. "George Clooney" claimed he was dating Vanessa D. Probably Vannesa D's fantasy even if she was/is very attractive.

Re-reading a Reacher book should take about 15 minutes

A little longer than that. I am usually doing a lot of stuff each day.

It read to me as a thinly disguised putdown if you don't have a Dawkins, Levitt, Voltaire, etc. book on your night stand.

Did not seem that to me. I have 4 degrees worth of heavy reading. I still challenge myself to a Classic every once in a while.

hopefully, it wasn't a put down, just an exaggeration. I read the last one on a plane to Seattle and they make good travel books.

Jim Carrey is another actor who was on my e-mail list for a long time. I was hoping he would win that Oscar he seemed to be striving for through some good roles he had had especially Man on the Moon and The Truman Show. Jim Carrey - Rotten Tomatoes

Now I doubt if anyone would take a Jack Reacher played by Jim Carrey seriously because of all the baggage Jim Carrey carries to any role he plays.

Got a Facebook private message over the weekend (7-22, 7-23) from a kick-ass actress who would make a good Jack Reacher.

Someone could have hacked her though so I will not say more. She went dark after friending me on Facebook and sending her private message. Which I answered.

She does have some Villages' Scottish connections.

Looking forward to the movie you are working on now. And I really admire some of the people you are cast with for this movie as well as your last one.

And if it is someone playing games. Well the joke is on you as this should get back to her in time as I know that I am on various people's radar because of my 224 613 Project and the 25.5 years I have put on it. In this world though it is best to be very careful. And I appreciate the caution. I did have a very good weekend thinking about possibilities. I need to keep this cryptic but make sure I document it somehow and TOTV makes a nice diary of sorts.

And there are Villages' connections to this. Her last movie opened in the Villages in 2016. I saw it later on DVD a few weeks ago. She had a good performance.
