2017 Yamaha EFI Gas Carts

Wow I just drove the new 2017 Yamaha Very Quiet gas golf cart at The Villages Golf Cart Store in Sumter Landing and it was amazing. Anyone else checked these out yet??

Diver 08-03-2016 05:50 PM

Very quiet, as quiet as an electric. Also they have independent rear suspension, not a solid rear!

JerryLBell 08-04-2016 08:02 AM

I'll be buying a golf card when we move down next year and have lots of questions and get lots of often conflicting answers. I won't even go into the whole gas vs. electric thing. There's a part of me that would really like to go electric but whenever I've visited, about 90% of the carts I see parked at the various town centers are Yamaha gas models. They must be doing something right to appeal to that many people. And I would image that equates to a better resale value. Anyhow...

The original post mentions how great the 2017 Yamaha EFI carts are. I've read mixed things about EFI, mostly that it's hard to justify the cost difference on mileage or performance. Are all of the 2017 Yamahas EFI? If not, are the non-EFI 2017s and quiet as the EFI model? And do they have the independent rear suspension? Any other new features on the 2017s?

Fuel Injected..............nice not having to use a choke and less emission (IMO)

HoosierPa 08-04-2016 06:16 PM

I priced them today with TV Golf Cart store. $10,900 for 2 seater loaded but with basic Sunbrella standard seat and any standard color built to order. Price is up about $600 over the 2016 model. Quite a few other changes in the new 2017 Yamaha besides the quiet technology and independent Rear suspension . I have to check these out. If they are as quiet as the Sales Mgr. expressed to me, it would be tough to justify electric IMO

Always interested in other evaluations/thoughts........let us know after your ride.

biker1 08-07-2016 07:09 AM

My wife and I test drove the 2017. It is very quiet. My wife thought it had a smoother ride than our 2014 Yamaha. It also apparently comes with the high speed gear in the differential installed at the factory. Very smooth acceleration. It has independent rear suspension (as already noted in an earlier post) plus the body is now made of several panels so repair is less costly if the body is damaged.

Quiet gas carts, really, is the gas pump quiet also?
We did a lot of looking, everywhere, we finally bought from AGC carts, locally near the Bonefish Grill.
Love it, quiet, dependable, no fumes, no flywheel clutch to engage, just total smoothness and clean to run. No need for a foot parking brake.
We found also that AGC will come to your house for service the first year, free. Yes. Can you beat that?
We have had our little jewel, EZGo from AGC and we truly love it. Their price was very competitive and they are wonderful to deal with.

I thought this thread was about 2017 Yamaha EFI gas carts!
Do you really think your riding your electric for free?
Most cart dealers offer free 1st year service at home for free!

It was.
Oops, they forgot that it has to be plugged in and batteries replaced ever so often.
Carts and Clubs from Ocala has always been here - for free - whenever I needed an adjustment or service.
Boom

I also got our Yamaha cart from Carts & Clubs and they have been just excellent from the initial sale until the present!

We got our 2015 fully loaded 4 seater Yamaha EFI from the original owner who bought it new through TV.
He eats the 5.5 K depreciation and we get the remainder of the 4 year warranty. Best deal out there, buy used.

WE placed our order yesterday after test drive, WOW, what a difference and improvement. I particularly love the rear fuel exhaust! The sound proofing and insulation is amazing. WE upgraded to reclining bucket seats which are so comfortable. WE can't wait for it to come in!

PaulDenise 09-03-2016 03:47 PM

Congrats! Give us an update when you get it.

I wonder if older carts can be retrofitted with some of the tech to reduce the noise.

I don't find the noise objectionable but I know you can find noise reduction kits on the internet. Basically they are glued in sound deadening blankets that you glue into the engine compartment. It is an air cooled engine so it runs pretty hot. I would expect putting sound deadening material in the engine compartment would cause the engine to run even hotter.

I have a 2014 Yamaha and love it. However, after driving the 2017 I will be ordering one before week's end. Why? The ride, the quiet and some other lesser important but still fun "things". :)

Attaboy tedquick, :eclipsee_gold_cup: don't delay happiness one damn minute. You will have no buyers remorse. Great Cart and Phenomenal Dealer..
even after they have your $$Money$$. Congratulations.

I'm sure the 4 wheel independent suspension on the '17's will make the speed bumps and drainage gutters feel like butta !

Hi, you mentioned the checking them out,,,, so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, have you checked out the morning lines of Yamahas waiting to be serviced, and have you checked the prices for service? We bought elsewhere at AGC carts, got the EzGo electric, love it, love the attention and the prompt service,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, at our house.
AGC carts are next to the Bonefish GRill, but hope your purchase works well for you.

No I don't have to check out the lines I just drive my cart there, they give me a cart to take to drive while they're working on mine. when it's done I go back and get mine and give them their cart back. It's only once a Year so no big deal.

While I am always up for a little fun, bbbbbbbbbbbbbbb sounds like a pretty nice person, perhaps just mis-informed. :) Besides that, my wife has an electric and flat out loves it. You know, the "different strokes . . . . ." thing?

capecodbob 09-22-2016 09:10 AM

Ordering our 2017 Yamaha gas cart today. Shopped all around and Carts and Clubs stands way above the others. Make sure you check them out before you buy. They are worth the look.

HoosierPa 09-22-2016 09:52 AM

Drove the new 2017 Yamaha and we also love it. Almost as quiet as electric. I just don't like the idea of taking the hit on buying new for $13,000 when I can wait a year or 2 and buy a used one for $8,000 (ish)
If only money grew on trees here !

rubicon 09-23-2016 05:29 AM

Perhaps it will never occur but my inclination is to wait to see if this new change over has any glitches.

Club Car went from their very successful and well built DS series to the Precedent in 2004. The cart had a number of failings and according to my repairman who worked many years at the Club Car plant in Atlanta it about sent the company broke. Club Car eventually worked its way out of this mess however, my repair guy always maintained that the club car DS was the best built

capecodbob 09-24-2016 08:12 PM

Well, our 2017 gas Yamaha is due to arrive at the house this coming Monday morning. Can't wait to put some miles on the od. Happened to have just the color we wanted in stock(think they had 2 new ones). Another great buying experience with Carts and Clubs. They are #1 on our list.

Schneil 11-02-2016 07:15 PM

We received our new golf cart and it is better than expected. The factory installed -with factory warranty is far superior to store installed wiring, etc. is such an amazing "security blanket". I know you can get a similar golf cart with store/shop installation, but this family prefers the factory warranty. It is indeed incredibly quiet, all of the neighbors and friends have agreed! The duel reclining and adjustable seats are perfect for the short or long legged drivers without needing the little pillows. The new LED lights are fabulous. All in all, I highly recommend Brandon and his crew at Colony. Enjoy your travels around The Villages.

Carts & Clubs in Ocala

I just bought mine In Ocala!
I saved about $800 and got a much better windshield with the lower fold, no black line, and the vents at the bottom. I looked at the Yamaha at Brownwood and did not like the sunbrella at all. I think they just do a better job.

jane032657 01-24-2017 11:36 AM

I am looking at both Carts and Clubs and TV golf store. They each say their accessories and lights, etc are better than the other. So for those of you with opinion (lol) here is what I am working through:

Does the new valance in TV golf carts have risk of cracking? Clubs and Carts uses the older style soft valance with snaps.

What about the electrical? TV tells me C&C ruins the Yamaha warranty by rewiring. C&C tells me not true and in fact they put in a better wiring system that will not burn things out like TV wiring. T of F?

Light: TV tells me they use cheaper lights at C&C. C&C tell me they use high quality LED lights and not strips and their lights are much brighter. T or F?

Windshield: C&C have a windshield that opens like the old ones but also has vents. TV has a windshield that stays closed on the top but has a pop up open on the bottom. Comments of what you like and why please.

One poster said the Sunbrella material was better at C&C. What do others think who have bought about the quality of the Sunbrella at C&C vs TV? TV says C&C manufacture them cheaply and also use a "dungaree" zipper at C&C, meaning a cheap zipper. T or F and comments.

Mirrors: C&C used round mirrors as they say visibility is wider and better and they mount them inside. Says big foldout mirrors have blind spot that is dangerous. TV says C&C uses cheap round mirrors that are not as good. Comments?

Service: C&C says they have repair trucks every day in TV for service. TV says they give the best service. I have bought carts at TV and used their service and it is excellent. How is C&C service for those who have used it?

I need to hear from people who have the experience with the 2017 carts as things are somewhat different on those carts, so those are the comments I am looking for. Thanks so much! It is crazy making deciding who is telling it like it is on these different topics.

HoosierPa 01-24-2017 06:58 PM

Another point.. I believe C&C sets the speed at
23-34 mph and TV @ 20 (or a little less)

I absolutely believe C&C builds a better quality cart. Hands down. If you are overly concerned about who to have service your cart, TV will service any cart and give you a free loaner.

I was given a 2017 Yamaha loaner from Village Golf Carts to use while mine was being serviced. It was very quiet and smooth except that the exhaust fumes nearly made me ill. I returned the cart and was issued another (this time with the sides rolled up) which wasn't as bad but still quite smelly. I asked the attendant why there wasn't a tail pipe to take the exhaust out to the side or rear of the cart and he stated that the 2017 didn't have a tail pipe. They exhaust right under the muffler. Am I the only one who has had this experience?
