Maid service

We built a house of our own design not quit six years ago.

Straight away we started having a housekeeper come every other week and clean house for us. It is the best money we ever spent. We love having a clean house, but neither of us likes to clean.:undecided:

Does anyone use a housekeeping service? What's the cost? Are you happy with their service? Is it hard to get good housekeeping services in TV?

graciegirl 02-16-2009 07:58 AM

House cleaning.

Yes. House cleaning service is certainly available here. This is a city of 75,000 people so you will have no difficulty finding it or lawn service which is about fifty dollars a month. Most people I know clean their own homes. The homes here range from about 1500 to 2500 square feet and have a lot of ceramic tile. This one level home seems so much easier than my three story up north to keep clean and neat.

Every service that you are used to up north is available here.

I use Hometown Cleaning Service as do some friends and we are very happy with them. they are very accomodating, especially if/when you need to change times, dates, etc. Here is their website: (http://www.hometowncleaningservices.com)

The costs vary depending on your sq. footage, type of house, etc.

Dirigo 02-16-2009 09:42 AM

We pay $48 every two weeks for a 1800sf one-level home. Our lady sweeps, vaccums, washes the tile floors, dusts everything but the big screen TV (I do that), cleans the bathrooms, the kitchen (including the microwave over the range), empties the trash in the waste baskets, empties the dishwasher and puts the dishes away. She washes all the windows twice a year.

She doesn't change bedding or do laundry. She would, for the same money, but we don't ask her to.

We do provide cleaning tools and supplies.

What might someone pay for that size of home and for level of service in TV?

Just curious...

I am a HUGE fan of Hometown Cleaning Services, and have found them extremely accomodating and very professional.

They are not responding to phone calls and the cell numbers don't work.

We also are so very pleased with Hometown Cleaning Service and they do a great job, are reliable and go above and beyond the regular chores. I've used cleaning services for many years and consider Hometown the best.

They are a llicensed and insured organization (very important) and are trustworthy.

Anderson Cleaning Service is my cleaning service of choice. Reliable, on-time and will take an occasional reschedule. (352) 669-8404

Taj44 05-07-2009 12:20 PM

We've had good luck with Castle Cleaning (Diane Castle is a Villager and has been doing business in The Villages for 7 years.) 352-750-1929.

movinsoon 05-07-2009 12:55 PM

What about the cost

Will anyone share the approximate cost of basic cleaning service as described by Dirigo for a 1500 - 1880 sq ft house?

gego3650 04-14-2011 11:39 AM

Trudy

Trudy is good and reasonable. I have used her for 4 years and recommend her highly. 205-5615 & 638-3615. Try her, you will be pleased.

Barefoot 04-14-2011 10:14 PM

I used to recommend Hometown Cleaning. Not anymore! Now I use Luke's Kleaning House, and I really like them a lot.

I'd guess at $70.

Halle 04-15-2011 10:37 AM

I also highly recommend Kleaning House. Luke has been cleaning our house for three years and we have always been very satisfied with the job Luke and his crew do.

You can contact Luke at
352 636 1091 or Kleaninghouse@embarq.com

What happened with Hometown?

Hometown is still in business. However they are going through staffing changes and calls aren't returned or their mailbox is full. I'm sure it's a temporary problem, but I've switched to KleaningHouse and love them.

skyguy79 04-15-2011 11:32 AM

We used Hometown in February and there were not only staff problems, but also she was dealing with serious family medical problem. I don't know if the problems are still ongoing or not. Despite those problems she and her boyfriend did get to the house and substituted for staff that would have normally done it, and they did a decent job. I hope the problems are behind her now!

jblum315 04-15-2011 11:39 AM

I've been using Hometown for 2 years, every two weeks. There are always 2 cleaners, sometimes (rarely) 3, and they're done in an hour and a half. Never had a problem with them.

Taj44 04-15-2011 11:56 AM

Just a heads up that Diane Castle (Castle Cleaning) is no longer doing house cleaning.

Dirigo, how do you take care of your big screen tv? What do you do special to clean it?

Thanks, K9

The problem I was having was that I couldn't leave messages in the Hometown mail box as it was full. The owner of Hometown, Susan, is a friend and I wish her well. I called her cell and she told me about the staffing issues. Once the problems are ironed out, I think everything will be fine again.

In the meantime I'm using Kleaning House and they've been great.

swrinfla 04-15-2011 01:01 PM

A word for Daisy Maids (Fruitland Park 314-9070). I've used them almost from the start. Always very thorough. Always on time - sometimes even early, but they call ahead. Usually two gals, but seldom the same ones. Very rarely only one.

Now $125 per visit (once a month). They're here a good hour-and-a-half or a little more.

My only wee small complaint is one that I always had with my service "up north" - things are seldom put back just where I want them!

I am very please with Kleaning house. They have a crew and are in and out quickly--which I like.

I had an e-mail recently from Susan, the owner of Hometown Cleaning. She has been struggling through a lot of staffing changes and family medical problems, as Skyguy mentioned. Hopefully she will now have a path of clear sailing.

I know Susan to be an honest, hard-working woman. I wish her all the best of luck in building her business back up and beyond what it was.

We have a couple in the Villages, Rod and Shirley, who we have had clean every other week for the past year. They do a great job. Our house is a designer model (Whispering Pine) and I believe it's about 1500 sq. feet. We pay $85.

I think it's about $70.

eveter 11-14-2012 01:34 PM

We were told it would cost us $80 to have our 1550 sf house cleaned every two weeks. We think this to be high. Are we wrong? We pay $60 every two weeks up north for a 2800 sf house.

Our home is 1966 sf and we pay Daisy Maids $92 every two weeks! Another cleaning service I would recommend is Hometown Cleaning and you can find their base prices by Clicking Here!

I use to have a residential cleaning co here in TV a few years ago... My prices were $60 to $70 to clean most ranches and Designer homes. It all depended on the type of floors and knickknacks that had to be dusted. We brought our own cleaning supplies, cleaned, disinfected and applies new filters on our vacuums and mops before we entered each home. I had One person to clean a home which took 3 hrs to clean.... We cleaned EVERYTHING, baseboards, fans, window sills, air vents etc... we did not cut corners we cleaned them! We used one rag to clean each room of the home to prevent contamination of germs. We were not the every day basic cleaner. I miss it very much…. Sadly, I had to close up business due to health reasons and it was very hard to find good reliable workers here in Fl.

I know of a Polish Lady that cleans houses, you would have to pick her up though, she would never find Liberty Park. She has no set fee, so you set the rate, and if agreeable by both parties, you are set

Barefoot 11-27-2012 07:59 PM

We recently had our house cleaned by Sunshine Mary, who is a member of TOTV. You can contact her by sending her a PM. She did a good job for us.

I pay $70 every two weeks but they supply their own tools and supplies. I don't use the dishwasher very often but they do wash whatever's in the sink
