A recent (now closed) thread from a new poster related a bad experience with a person in the TV area. As is so typical, a group of posters began questioning the poster's story and asking for more details. This escalated into demeaning and discrediting the OP. Finally, before the thread was shut down, this group of regulars started feeding off each others posts, belittling and making fun of the OP. What kind of people, who are seniors, do that? I expect that from children that haven't learned manners from their parents. But these people are seniors, that surely know better. All you posters that participated in that immature behavior just substantiated the OP's and any other new reader's concerns regarding TV friendliness. It is that kind of superior, uncaring attitude that reinforces the surrounding locals' opinions of the "grumpy old farts", "entitled holier-than-thou villagers". Shameful!

TOTV is wonderful if you are praising the developer and his accomplishments.

but....if you have an issue with anything....you will be bashed, shamed and told you are a troll.

They will take great efforts into looking at every and all posts you have ever made and come up with a conclusion as to why you are having issues with There beloved developer...

There is a current thread called Buyer Beware - Buying a Villa in the villages is a perfect example of the kind of post you're talking about. There is even an ongoing debate on whether the original poster is a troll or not. Why does someone have to get repeatedly attacked (see graciegirl's posts) just for pointing out something negative and TV?

We are leaving TV 5 years to the day that we moved here. We are leaving fantasy land and the ever growing amount of rude people. Don't worry, we will sell to another rude Teanderthal who can bash and bully people.

Read this over slowly. Then think what you would have told your children when they would come home with a very unusual tale. Would you question the veracity of something that didn't seem plausible?

Not everything posted on here by new and veteran posters is TRUE. There are so many rumors and so much stirring the pot on this and every forum. Everyone has their motivating factors. It is very true that some have way too much faith in the developers, but don't let this white hair fool 'ya. There are many whose motive is to discredit this place for their own motives. Some work for other entities, some are disgruntled realtors that are not allowed to sell properties here and some are just people who like to start trouble. I like what Judge Judy says a lot., "If it doesn't sound right, it is probably a lie." This mindset had me suspicious at times of my own children, but none of them have gone down the drain either. Children, even loved, perfect children do lie. And so do anonymous posters, every once and awhile

When you post on the internet, you better have cast iron knickers and be able to coherently tell your story or you will soon be hoisted on your own petard.

You get where I'm goin. By now you either know me or you don't, but I have a plaque hanging in my house that says among other virtuous things to QUELL RUMORS.

Somebody's gotta do it.

And why is Outlaw acting like he never challenges someone's credibility in a very direct and not nice way?

There is group of frequent posters who appear all "lovey dovey" to each other like a mutual admiration society, but when called upon, the minions join their leader and attack anything that they deem might mar their rose colored view of The Villages, even if it is true. Think about this, some of these people have posted thousands and thousands of times. New posters are especially fair game and the frequent posters comments are meant to demean and intimidate these people. First they attack the new poster then they demand more information so they can attack again. Their real purpose is to silence dissent. These cyber bullies for some reason get a free pass on TOTV. I find it highly distasteful. It is like the mother in law who demeans her daughter in law with constant criticisms veiled as helpful, but meant to overpower the young woman and then when her "sweetie" son comes in the room she is all "lovey dovey."

Personally I always stood up for my children.....they were more important than anything else.....

I prefer to take a sympathic approach to everything before I interagate.

People who post on here are looking for a sympathic ear....give them one.....

Their real purpose is that they grow tired of negativism like this post. They grow tired of erroneous and hypercritical and pot stirring posts. Many feel exactly the same, so they say things like, I agree, and excellent post.

AND talking about bullying, there is a group who all just begin drooling to kick those folks who seem to have a group of friends.

Being hateful is not ever productive. Some of us aren't going to just sit here and let incorrect information go unchallenged. Maybe it is pride of ownership, sense of team, being happy here, recognizing a very good thing.

Or those who don't agree can, and will color it however they please. They are anonymous.

What is all this talk about children? We are all adults here. This reminds me of my mother, a great lady, but she had one major flaw and that was a former teacher, she never stopped correcting us and pointing out how we were wrong or not parenting our children correctly our whole lives. It was tiresome, especially as she aged, and most of the time she was far off base. My wife couldn't stand her as she was especially, quietly reprimanded all the time. My mother treated us like children our entire lives, always correcting, always criticizing. She never considered us adults.

Yes, in their dotage. Too, some could be not taking their meds, suffering side effects from their meds, on the wrong meds, needing meds they don't have or "self medicating", legally or illegally.

Sad but true, the intent of the TOTV is great but the above comment is accurate. Also sad that if you think an action item needs to be shared, then some will jump on you, kill the messenger, and so it goes. It is not unusual to do a factual statement and then some folks come back attacking with all sorts of stuff: Show me the facts, where exactly is that, give us some pictures?
As said before the best Engineering Manager I ever knew in a big company said this: Never mind telling me how great it is, we see all of that, we know of that. Just tell me of potential problems or real problems and show me how you hope to get them solved among your team mates. Good advice and very successful for sure.
