how young ???

How young were you when you moved to TV ? My wife and I ( both 56 ) are moving there asap and we are just curious as to the average age people move there. Some friends of ours just moved there and they are in their early 70s and they feel like they are teenagers again. They are having a blast !! Guess TV does that to you !

junebug7 02-21-2009 08:04 AM

My husband and I are moving to TV full-time next June and we will be 55 then. :pepper2:

Tal loves setting up surveys. This looks like a good opportunity for another one!

I'm ready!

I'm 53 and just counting the days until I get to TV.

Being a single person, it will take more time to plan the move and find a job - but oh yeah, I'm ready and I'll get there, hopefully sooner than later.

We were 66 & 64. We both agree that living in TV has taken 10 years off our chronological age. I think that it stems from being 10 times more active than we were in Connecticut.

how young

My wife and I are 58 and 56. Do you feel that the new areas draw younger? i guess that may not be a fair questioin ----- WHO WANTS TO LEAVE. If you want to buy there are places available in all areas of the Villages. Come on down. AGE HAS NO BARRIERS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RCT 02-21-2009 09:59 AM

Age

I moved here in June '08, 49 yrs old, will be 50 in June. My partner is older than me. I was thinking of dyeing my hair grey/white to blend in better, but decided against it when I found out alot of people dye their hair to natural color!! We live in Villas of Spanish springs, and average age in our section is about 60. Age sure doesn't seem to mean anything here. Have met people 30 years older than I with way more energy!!! People in The Villages don't die of old age, they die of exhaustion!!!

Hawkwind 02-21-2009 10:25 AM

Age is a relative thing, you are as old as you feel. It is almost a guarantee that you will feel a whole lot younger and be more active at TV than anywhere else. Forget the numbers and enjoy life in TV, you will never regret it.

Hadley is for babies?

I do believe that the new areas draw younger..for the most part. There are people on our block from mid fifties to 70ish and our houses are six months old. Mostly younger on the spectrum though.

How about your block..chime in.

I don't know how to break this to you gently, but I think you will be sorry if you wait.

How old were you

We retired first in Calif. for eight years and were 72 and 73 when we moved to the Villages. Live in the new area and not a problem with the age as long as you are active in meeting people. We belong to several clubs, golf, bocce, pickleball, etc. Our kids (5) have a hard time keeping up with us. Just returned from CALIF. where hubby hit the slopes in Tahoe with daughter. He is 76 now so guess it must be the Village water. I really wanted to join but have a knee replacemant. Health issues will slow you down but you can still get out and enjoy the sun, groups, entertainment, etc. without a problem. Always try to have a positive mental attitude and you will never feel left out. :pepper2:

70 & 71......the new does not draw the young....

demographics will show the same cross section of ages bought in the so called historic distric as well as the area North of 466. Too many people on the "new" side seem to forget that once upon a time each Village was NEW!!!

There is no doubt, TV compared to mant other retirement communities does in fact make most feel younger as TV provides so mant venues for people to be active.

No matter where you live...there is no secret that activity is the fountain of youth....folloed very closely by attitude.\\You are only old when you think you are old.

BTK

We are 56 and (will be 54) when we move in April '09. Also from MA, ME, CT.

We bought when we were both 49 and moved in 2 years later... had to sell the house up north 1st.

colleenj 02-22-2009 07:08 AM

I am 51 and bought a house on the "historic side" last year. People of all ages in my neighborhood which is great. "Age is like height..it is a number we can't do anything about so ignore it and live!!!"

jkomoros 02-22-2009 10:02 AM

I just turned 58 in January and my husband turned 60 in early February.

My parents moved into a continuing care center here in Alexandria, VA, to be close to us, and in the five years they have been there, it's done wonders for my mom. The community and new friends are great, the planned activities all through the week are wonderful, and my mom's days are filled with fun things to do. I was looking for something similar for people our age, and I'm positive TV fits the bill. I have a neighbor and several friends who say they are going to "age in place" and I feel sorry for them when there are places like TV in which to live!

I'm 67 and a widow. I want to move to TV to be as active as possible with like-minded women and men, who enjoy all of the activities and warm weather. Does this mean I'd be happier on the north side, so that I won't be run over by the youngsters on the south side? ;) Phoebeis

NO, my dear, you will be happy wherever you are. (And I graduated from Columbus, Ohio South High School in 1957!) We live in Hadley and love it!!!
