Glenview restaurant rumor
Heard a rumor that the Glenview restaurant is being run by the World Of Beer franchisee effective immediately. Is this true? If so, I hope it will cause an improvement to the food & staff attitudes.

Yes, that's true. They have 3 World of Beers, Hacienda Hills CC and Glenview CC

Thanks! You always have good info...we'll see how the Member-Member dinner is tonight. Talk about a stress test for new management - it's always 100% full.

Might the menu be different than at the three W O B restaurants?

WOW! There goes another great eating establishment. I hope his food is as Good as HH Country Club. Yuck! Worst German food I ever had. WHERE IS CHEF BRIAN WHEN WE NEED HIM?

Disappointed in the way the restaurants are going these days in the villages.

I like that we have lots of choices. Do I like every restaurant ? No. I go to the ones I like and just don't go to the ones I don't. Other people like them and that's good too. |
This certainly is not the news I wanted to hear:sigh:. We have always enjoyed our times at Glenview, we know and like the staff as do so many of their regulars. Right now it is very slow, but in no time at all the seasonal residents will be back, followed by the snow birds and then the place is busy all day, and in the evening people wait outside to get in! If the new management "mess" with the place they could lose big time. I do agree that the menu needs an overhaul and they need a good restaurant manager, but please don't mess with success because you will lose some really good wait staff.
People HATE change. The "birds" love to come back and see the same people in their regular eating establishments. Remember, people vote with their pocket books and it does not take long to ruin an establishment, but it takes a hxxl of a long time to get them back! |
Glenview USED to be one of our favorite restaurants. We have been more than disappointed in the restaurants owned by WOB, so will probably cross that restaurant off the list too. At this rate there aren't going to be ANY good restaurants before too long. IMO.

Richard and Karen not only sold out of Glenview, they sold their portion of Mallory Hill CC too.

Skip - Did WOB grab the Mallory piece too?

Well new ownership of Glenview explains the noticeable and not favorable changes on our recent visits. Sadly, Hacienda Hills has gone downhill & Glennview is following. It's a shame!

We were there last night. We are lounge lizards and enjoy the liveliness of Glenview lounge. There were no seats available at the bar, most of the booths were occupied and there were only one or two tables available. I think the seasonal people are making their way back and business will pick up in the coming weeks. However, at one time in the way distant past, I was the Admin to someone who owned six Sheraton Hotels at the time when Sheraton was a good businessman's hotel. Through that experience I know just a tiny bit about running a decent profitable restaurant and Glenview needs a good deep cleaning and polishing, the ladies room seems to always have a problem in one of the cubicles, and some decent fresh floral greenery would help. As for staff, they need a good Hostess to greet and meet people at the door and she needs a good gopher to interact with people while seating them. They also DESPERATELY need a restaurant manager who knows what a restaurant manager does in the real world. The one they have now is absolutely useless, we have never seen him go around to the tables to see if his customers are satisfied with their meals or to just say "Good Evening, thank you for dining with us". I am hoping that the new owner, having made this investment, will gradually see that changes need to be made. I think Glenview has just about everything to make it a thriving business. The stand alone lounge/bar area not only has bar stools, but booths and tables; the Porch, which I prefer to call the Garden Room, could be delightful with a little tweaking, and the formal dining room is very elegant and reminiscent of the old private gentleman's clubs that were very popular in Boston in the old days - unfortunately, right now it looks tired and sad. Last, but not least, IMHO the wait staff have been the mainstay of Glenview for a long time now and have kept many of us coming back. And I have one more thing to say ..... when will people acknowledge that the year round residents are their bread and butter, we may not make them much money, but we pay the utilities which keep the place going, and the least the manager could do is acknowledge our presence. |
