We live on a course since we came in 2010 ----
Its all about you !!!! My likes and dislikes ! People say its not good if you live by the tee box --We do not live there but I can see that might get annoying People say and I agree about what side the cart path is on counts -----carts going by all day can be annoying --we are on the opposite side People say are you in the flight path of all the EXCEPTIONAL players ? lol --that can be true --we get hit on the cage on occasion --not a real problem --- sometimes it fun to tease the golfers when they come to find the ball ---if they have a sense of humor . The Two things that are not arguable for us ---- We can sit out side on the Lanai and see the wildlife available to us I can go outside in the morning and have my coffee and look out and not see another fat guy looking back at me !!!! chemicals being applied, and getting blown on to your property nosey golfers looking at you as they pass by golf course homes tend to sell for a premium - are they worth it? |

Type of Course
House on executive course next to cart path might be noisier. A championship course should be quieter. Carts usually drive down the fairway.

Cons: Of course, more expensive for the same house because the lot cost $125,000 more and up. Bond and taxes higher. As others have noted, noise and golf balls can be an issue depending where you buy on the course.
Pros: With the right golf course lot: Beautiful views from your lanai. Very private early morning and late evening. Serene and peaceful. If you have the resources, it becomes a matter of personal preference. You decide for yourself. |
In my 9th home in 16 years, all on the golf course in various spots. I have lived in all possible locations on different holes, my least preferred is 100 yards from the tees on the right side. My favorite is on the green or near the green to watch the approach shots and the putting. I would not buy a home that was not on a course for privacy reasons and the beautiful openness and expansive view. A few people go by but very few even look at your home, they are interested in their games.
While it is certainly a personal thing, if you like the home, buy it!! Good luck. |

There was a prior thread about GC water sprinkler that was out of adjustment and sprayed reclaimed water into the lanai and pool. I live just off a GC, and neighbors have reported the occasional golf cart taking short cut BETWEEN houses. Some have reported people coming right up to the house and looking in, especially when there are renovations going on.
We actually have a road to the back of our house, and enjoy lots of privacy, outside of the occasional car or cart going by, but since they need to keep an eye on the road, they cannot stare in the house or lanai. As pointed out above there are several excellent comments. |
we have a golf course home for sale. On Cane Garden 6 years old great view no cart path ,no tee , no green that all has "traffic" call Lenny 552-3799 if you want to see a great expanded Lantana

we plan on putting a cooler full of beer & ice with a small cash box out on the fence,,,,, buck a beer if u chose to pay ,, if not have ne on me!

We live on a championship golf course. I would recommend a championship course because it gets less traffic. I believe that the executive courses get much more traffic and there are carts on them until dark. On the championship courses the traffic is much less and they are generally off the course well before dark. At least that's our experience living on the course we live on. We really enjoy watching the golfers and at times, when we are out on our lanai, we wave and say hello. We are on the 8th tee so there is a very slim chance of is getting hit with golf balls. We have never had a ball in our yard and won't get bend out of shape of someone were to come in our yard to get one. Plus there are no rear neighbor's! We have a lot of privacy. It doesn't bother us with the maintenance of the course and we cannot think of anything negative about living on a golf course. Our house is set back a ways so we don't experience people looking into our home or being uncomfortable in our pool. I would strongly recommend you take in consideration how close the house is to the cart path, weather it's a executive or championship course and how great the
Possibility is of being in the path of golf balls is. Otherwise, we find it a great place to live! |
I love the view of a golf course.
Being allergic to cut grass :rolleyes: made me go with a lake view which we love. |
Some CYV ARE ELEVATED which prevents golfers from looking into home.

My next door neighbors went on a cruise every six months with as many family members as possible. they would get inside rooms add extra bunks and party hardy. |
We have bought two homes in the Villages. Both homes were on golf courses and both have provided beautiful views. We are currently in an elevated courtyard villa on a tee box of an executive course and the thing I love the most about our house, is the enjoyment of sitting on our lanai.
All houses in the Villages are beautiful in there own way. :) Best of luck on your decision! |

I don't know that a home near a tee is all that bad. I'd be very careful not to get one that is in a lading area for tee shots or close to a green that has a long approach.
If you do end up in one of those areas, I would make sure that you have some kind of protective barrier erected to protect your home and for your personal safety. |

True story because I am telling it on myself... #6 at Churchhill Executive Course is a long par 4. I HOOKED my tee shot off of the roof of one house, the ball bounced and hit the roof of the next house, and then hit the top of a bird cage of the next house. The slope of the bird cage gave the ball enough mommentun to make it just barely back in bounds. I sheepishly went over hit my second shot and moved on....

Living on Golf Course
We live on the 5th tee box of Riley and love it. Also the golf carts go by our house all dayl ong. We enjoy the interaction with the golfers and we have some great conversations with them. One problem is that four lawn mowers come to the 5th tee every morning for maintenance purposes. Cutting the lawn at 6:30 sometimes wakes me up, but one gets used to it in a short time. All in all I think we made the right choice and plan to live on the golf course for a ong time to come.

We are on a championship course with the cart path on our side. We gave up an unobstructed (though not waterfront) view of the Chesapeake Bay when we moved here, so our condition(s) were golf and/or water view. We found both in a lovely resale home. Our house is right on the fairway at the corner of the dogleg approach to the green, so golf balls are a potential problem. I've actually heard the house (roof?) hit twice. We've been here exactly a year and have collected 5 balls up against the enclosed lanai or in between us and the neighbors. I believe that is why the previous owners of our house put in acrylic windows rather than glass when they enclosed the lanai. Our new neighbors recently discovered during their roof inspection that their solar tube lens had been cracked by a flying ball. I love watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets, listening to the frogs, and watching pelicans and other birds land on the pond. I am already up when the maintenance carts go by in the early morning, and when the golfers go by, they are respectful of the out of bounds stakes. I can't think of any reason not to live on a golf course if you've found a house you like.

We seriously considered a model home on the 4th hole of Nancy Lopez . Wonderful view,cart path on the far side and lots of pine trees beyond the green. But then came the new addition to Mulberry. The trees are gone replaced by more homes..to bad..
