Those restrooms on the golf course. Are they for the general public?
I think this may have been discussed before, but here we go again.
The restrooms along the golf courses, both executive and championship, from time to time, are situated next to public streets. Does that make them public restrooms. If I understand correctly, our amenity fees pay for the ones on the executive courses and the championship operators own the ones on their courses. More than occasionally, construction crews, garbage truck employees, and passers-by in general use them. I understand their need, but! Golfers have only a limited time as they pass the restrooms. Outsiders do not have the same feeling of responsibility as Village residents do. Many times the construction guys are there early in the day, so you know what the purpose is. Sometimes two or more of them are waiting in line. Is there a good answer to this. Are they public restrooms? If they are, then that's the answer. At some courses, outside of the Villages, you need a key to get in. What made me think of this, again, is we just drove past the one along Calumet on the Oakley course and there were two construction trucks and a garbage truck sitting there to use it. JLK |
Toooooo much to think about.
On one hand yes, we pay for the restrooms On the other hand, we pay for the trash pickup and road construction. and when you gotta go.......... you gotta go |
The Villages could always install pay per use toilets at...
...these golf course rest rooms.
I see that one airline is thinking about credit card opening toilets. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29532865/ |

TH this is not only at the golf courses but at the neighborhood pools. I was at the pool in Bonnybrook one day when a lawn crew pulled in to use the facilities. I though nothing of it at the time but noticed it a few more times with other crews at other sites.
|
I'm with you, Bogie. No way should they use the golf course facilities. There are plenty of comfort stations in the construction areas. It should be posted on the door.

Bogie,
:agree:I'm with you....isn't that why contractors have porta-potties on-site? As far as others (Villagers out for a stroll) go, those facilities wouldn't be there if there wasn't a golf course. And golf courses are for golfers, paths included (most of 'em anyway)! Those walking their dog (or spouse) should plan accordingly! |

Allowances should be made by contractors/lawn maintance/etc to provide portable toilets even if they have to be towed in on a trailer in the morning, left in the general work area, and removed by the end of the day. I'm not a snob, nor would I be unkind to a person in need, but I would expect, no, demand, a certain degree of exclusivity in a neighborhood like TV. Access by TV residents only would be easy enough to accomplish using a magnetic strip on an ID card and a card swiping lock on the restroom doors. Is there anything Villagers can do about this outrage? |
I have to agree with Dirigo. The resident id should be used as a pass key. The public restrooms in the town squares aren't that far away. Particularly if you have a car or truck.
|
Would you perfer the workers PEEING behind a bushv? That's what would happen, If someone gets upset because they had to wait a minute to use the John, Sorry it's not that big a deal. This is just my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions.

If, in fact, all restroom facilities in TV are legally considered public facilities then I'll back off and have to accept the situation or decide to look elsewhere for my retirement living. We all have our hot buttons and this one is mine. |

You guys need to put this on the next POA agenda. You guys have too much time on your hands if you are worried about someone using a bathroom.

Well, it speaks to a larger issue. If you own in a home in TV you pay an amenity fee. IMO that fee should allow only Villagers and their guests to use Villages facilities. On our LSP last month we entered several Rec Centers and we were never asked for ID. Some of the receptionists desks were unattended. The pools could be used by anyone as there is not restricted access to them. I read in another post that a woman said she had to get a priority membership to use the country club pools because laborers were sitting by her community pool while they were eating their lunch. And now I'm reading that the restrooms are used by laborers. Why can't the other amenities be as tightly controlled as the golf courses? You have to show you ID more than once before you're allowed to tee off, right? I really do like TV, but I think there is a image of exclusivity that is not the reality. Hey, maybe its just me! What do others think? And yes, I'd have to learn to live with it because TV has so many other things going for it.:coolsmiley: Dirigo |

Question! If two or three or five or eight or 15 construction trucks stopped at your house every day and asked to use your bathroom, would you let them? After all who's worried about someone using a bathroom? |

A long shiny black limousine stops briskly at curbside near one of those outhouses.
The occupant steps quickly out of the rear seat and rushes into the outhouse. The occupant is the President of the U.S., Donald Trump, Sean Connery, whoever he is you idolize him. Do you still have the same complaint he not paying amenities and using the john? Oh yes, he waved at you as you golfed with your buddies. |

I agree. The restrooms are for villagers only. Let's make them go by a tree or bush.

To pee or not to pee? That is the question.
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows and bad aim of construction workers, Or to take up arms against a sea of pee, By going to the POA, the HOA, the PRUS, And through the power of paying the fee to pee, Gain access only by noble plastic card, And henceforth, banish all Restroom signs from TV, Replacing them with signs that say “Swipe & Wipe.” But, in doing so, entitled ones may doom themselves to sleepless nights, Lying awake, inviting madness, Lying awake, wondering when oh when, Will such a deed come back to haunt? Alas, when will the phony, fake ID’s appear? Thus changing all TV Restroom signs, once more, To “Fake and Shake.” Adieu, Boomer |

TH, you know, sometimes English majors just gotta have fun, too. Well, Mr. Tony besmirches English majors. And Garrison Keillor besmirches English majors. And now, oh no!!! And now.......et tu, TH? You guys made me laugh - very creative.
But I think that this could be a real issue. When we played one of the exec course during our Lifestyle Preview, we felt a lot of pressure (no pun intended) to keep up the pace of play. Had I needed to use the facilities in the middle of that round of golf, and found them busy with a line of contractors outside, I would have probably insisted on first in line privileges, and if anyone gave me any lip, I would have immediately driven to the starting booth and complained loudly. A resident driving by needing to use the bathroom is one thing; a line of contractors is another. The latter is unacceptable IMHO. |
